Lara and Trout are probably #2 and #3 in the super welterweight division with not much separating them. Both are technically sound boxers with good accuracy and speed. Lara just beat tough pressure fighter Alfredo Angulo in a tough fight in which he had to recover from two stiff knockdowns, while Trout gave a very solid effort against Canelo Alvarez and even was seen as winning by some observers.
While it might not be the most entertaining styles matchup, who do you think would come out ahead between these two skilled southpaws? I would favor Lara after seeing the focus and recovery he showed against Angulo tonight, but who knows how it would go?
Lara fairly easily.
Lara does everything better. He's faster, stronger, better technique, more accurate.
Trout has volume. That's it.
Trout has far better head-movement and lateral movement, from what I've seen of Lara today.
It could be competitive if Trout utilized his angles. If he didn't - Lara has much better handspeed and pop which would make the difference.
