So I was puffing a L watching the Bradley/Provodnikov fight again and I noticed after the fight Tim's face was swollen badly. I checked the Compubox stats and it said Provodnikov landed 186/514 Powerpunches. His total punches landed were 216/676. I then wanted to check the Bradley/Pacquiao Compubox stats because I always felt that after that fight Bradley had a very clean face and his overall demeanor seemed fresh and lively after the fight (not like someone who'd been in a war with Manny Pac-Man) And the stats say Pacquiao landed 190/493 Powerpunches and 253/751 Total punches. So my question is How did Pacquiao and Provodnikov land about the same amount of Powershots, and Pac actually landed 50 more shots total in the fight than Provodnikov Yet Bradley is speaking fresh after the Pac Fight, but Slurring his speech and dazed after the Prov fight. I know the elementary answer most of you will fire off is "Provo hits harder than Pac-Man" (which Roach confirmed) and "Timmy had a concussion" but I'm more curious about how a 147lb "Pac-Monster" supposedly lands that many times on Bradley during a fight, yet Bradley wasn't ever badly hurt during the fight or bruised as much as in the Provodnikov fight. You can't say much about scar tissue because these fights are less than a year apart, not like the fights were fought with many wars in between. I'm not saying Bradley won the Pac fight, but what I am saying is that 1 of 3 things occured 1) Pac received credit for punches he didn't land and Compubox had it wrong that night 2) Pac Man doesn't hit like the monster we think he does, Or 3) Bradley's facial skin decided to be tough when he fought Pac, but decided to be weak the night he fought Provodnikov 9 months later (which I highly doubt)
For the Record I scored it 7 to 5 for Pac, but I feel this fight may have been far from the Robbery we were told it was. Let me know your comments or thoughts.
Bradley blocked a ton of Pac's shots that Compubox gave him credit for. Pac probably landed like 120 punches on Bradley the entire fight.
^^^^This is the way I've been feeling. Could it be possible that the 3 judges ringside that night didn't really see Pac-Man legitimately landing that much, and the HBO commentators, the crowd roaring when Pac-Man would throw anything, Compubox, and Pac-Man's overall popularity fooled everyone into thinking this was a landslide victory and a complete robbery. I read a lot about psychology, and most times we aren't aware we getting mind-phucked.
Compubox counted punches that didn't land, i wish they or someone would watch over the fight again and give us the accurate numbers after the fights. People use these numbers way too much as "fact" when they are pure garbage. If you watch the same fight from another broadcaster that doesn't use Compubox the numbers are usually a lot different, it's hard to see a lot of what is being blocked and what isn't during a live fight.
Bradley was being much more defensive against Pac. He tried to make a statement against Provodnikov by going toe to toe and that damn near got him knocked out. Prov landed the much more cleaner and harder punches in comparison to the ones Pac landed.
Compubox is not something to be taken seriously.
Exactly--- They are there for entertainment but dont really mean much.. plus who knows how accurate they are
This is probably about right there was many rounds (from say 3-10) that Provodnikov didn't really do anything but stalk Bradley and Manny is a lot faster and throws combinations but I do feel Provodnikov did land the cleaner, harder shots.
Round 6 he hurt Tim bad.
Ruslan made Tim fight him. Tim didnt want to fight like that. He just had no choice at certain times during the fight. Let's not say Tim choose to dismissing the fact that Ruslan was relentless.
Never rely on compubox numbers. It's pretty much just a reference point. Based on compubox, any punch that isn't a jab is a power punch. It doesn't take into account any other factors like how well the punch landed or how hard it was thrown. It was clear to me that Ruslan was able to hit Bradley with the harder punches because Bradley gave him more opportunities.
These were two very different fights. Bradley tried to trade with Ruslan in certain rounds and he paid the price severely. Other rounds he boxed and was barely touched. In the Pac fight, Bradley seemed weary of his power from round 1. After the first time he got caught, Bradley kept his distance.
Big difference was Bradley didn't want to show any respect for Provodnikov. He made himself open and didn't have any concerns of getting hit. If he did that in the Pac fight, he would have been dropped with Pac's combos.
I remember 2 shots, pac hurt him but as soon as bradley got hurt, he was excellent in getting at a safe distance and also being aware if that makes sense
pac easily for me won the fight, it was 8-4 for pac, or 9-3 I think I had it, I think 99 percent of the press row also had pac winning
the truth is, if a prime pac was in there, when he hurt bradley, he could have stepped forward quicker and threw more punches to finish him off like he did vs cotto, but pac was on the way down leading up to the fight, he is a part time fighter and it showed a few times
with rusian, bradley got hurt, but instead of moving back and getting back together, he stood there and slugged, led him to take the 3rd big punch after the 1st and 2nd.
thats what hurts a guy like bradley, the first one, he was kind of okay with but the 2nd or 3rd, it showed on his face what it did imo
CompuBox can't account for the severity of the punches. Provodnikov connected with harder shots and hurt Bradley way more than Pacquiao. I don't put any faith in the accuracy of CompuBox. It's another useless tool sports programs use to fill dead air time. It gives the sportscasters something to talk about when nothing is going on.

Maybe Manny didn't land as clean. Bradley was ducking and dodgin anyway he could against Pacquiao, so the harder shots could have rolled off more. With Ruslan he stood toe to toe and took everything Provod could dish outI would agree with this. They count any punch that lands and is not a jab as a power punch. It does not matter if the guy ran into a perfect bomb or if he was moving away from a punch and did not get the full impact it still counts as one punch. Pacquiao is a very hard puncher as Mosley or Cotto could tell you. Rusian may hit even harder with his best punches.
Of course Pacquiao landed more, he is alot faster and more accurate. The numers are impressive considering Bradley ran from Pacquiao and walked into Provodnikov's punches. If he fought Pacquiao the way he fought Provodnikov, he would have been knocked out early. He would need the judges to give him a bad decision.
