He's pretty clearly tied to the Bosch clinic, and Major League Baseball is planning to suspend certain players also tied to this same clinic for 100 games. Bosch even gave him a note, when he was scheduled to fight Brandon Rios, when he should "Start cleanup".
This article that ran in yahoo sports yesterdaystates " could admit to using all sorts of performance enhancers, but as long as he provides a clean sample following Saturday's bout, he has nothing to fear in terms of suspension, now or ever."
If boxing was serious about stopping drug cheats, they would blackball him. With a win over Perez, there's even talk of him receiving an interim title. Give me a break!
Whether anything comes of this or not it should give fans a good look into the type of athlete Gamboa is.
He is lazy is the ring and lazy and looking for shortcuts in his training.
Two years ago he looked like he might be a special fighter, now he is just another lazy Cuban who is satisfied just to have made it.

MMA is probably worse. Just looking at MMA fighters you can tell. There's a couple of well known MMA stars basically allowed to use testosterone because the have low levels. In most cases when a young athlete has low testosterone it's usually from steroid use. Steroids shut down your bodies' own production of testosterone and other hormones. Usually to the point where your body stops producing it permanently. Boxing isn't serious about cleaning up the sport. I'll bet if you test a lot of the KO artists in boxing you'll likely find PED use. As long as there are sensational KOs they'll hardly do anything about it. Unless one of the superstars get caught.
Cano and Gio by evidence got cleared and their names where all over that list, but just as well Gamboa could be guilty but nobody is going to ask Bosch about Gamboa cause is not the MLB business and like you said Boxing don't give 2 fks they don't punish people who actually test positive, Gamboa has never tested positive and has an Olympic background.
Ofc haters gonna hate and as soon as the rumor stated he was Roider of the year because their fighters are pedestrian dogsh*t in comparison to him but i do genuinely would like to know and most likely wont get to.
Interesting, looks like Anthony Bosch is going to finally talk.
NEW YORK -- The founder of a Miami anti-aging clinic has agreed to talk to Major League Baseball about players linked to performance-enhancing drugs, a person familiar with the case told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.
The person declined to be identified because the investigation was still ongoing.
Information that Anthony Bosch provides MLB on players who came to the now-closed Biogenesis of America clinic could lead to suspensions. Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun, Nelson Cruz and Melky Cabrera are among the players whose names have been tied to the clinic.
The agreement between Bosch and MLB was first reported by ESPN.

Same reason, when holyfield was caught buying drugs was not bad
same reason floyd was tested positive, when pederson and others were tested, golden boy protects their fighters by putting in contract clauses only allowing them to know!
other promoters would do the same in terms of their contracts

2 fighters testing positive for steroids didn't even get suspended. Testing has basically proved to be a failure in boxing. Nobody honestly gives a crap, it's all for show
This is what it comes down to. Everyone knows it's going on, but nobody cares. The only reason Major League Baseball is doing anything about PEDs is because of the public and governmental attention it received starting with McGwire-Sosa. The powers-that-be at MLB knew about the issue for years and looked the other way. It made for a more exciting product and, therefore, bigger bucks. If an organization as powerful as MLB took that approach, boxing, with its uncoordinated and corrupt sanctioning bodies, can't be expected to do anything worthwhile.

At least one big-name baseball player involved in the Bosch scandal was cleared by MLB: Gio Gonzalez. That in itself should tell you that just because someone was named doesn't mean they're guilty. Gamboa's situation doesn't look good, no doubt, but you can't convict a person on the strength of circumstantial evidence. MLB's investigation will have no bearing on Yuri's particular case. They're only interested in their own affairs. As far as boxing is concerned, if a fighter doesn't fail a drug test before or after a fight, he's good to go.
Because he has never failed a drug test.
Peterson has failed, Berto has failed...yet Gamboa is seemingly looked at worse for speculation. We'll see what comes of the investigation and go from there.
Boxing has always been a corrupt sport and I don't think that will ever change. Its a sport over-run by individuals who only care about the financial side of things, they could care care less about the well being of the sport.

Gamboa, though, has no worries about action being taken against him no matter what the results of the investigation turn up. Under state athletic commission rules, a fighter can not be fined or suspended retroactively once he or she passes a drug test.
Shane Mosley used PEDs before a 2003 fight with Oscar De La Hoya (AP)That actually happened once. Shane Mosley defeated Oscar De La Hoya in 2003 in Las Vegas and passed his drug test administered by the Nevada Athletic Commission. But then the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) scandal broke in 2004 and it turned out that Mosley used the cream and the clear, designer steroids created by BALCO founder Victor Conte that were undetectable at the time.
Because Mosley passed his test given following the fight by the Nevada commission, even his admission to the grand jury was not enough to allow Nevada to penalize him for his usage. He went on with his career as if the steroid usage never occurred. The same will be true of Gamboa and every other fighter who may be implicated.

It isn't. If someone gets suspended by one governing authority they can apply for a license from any number of others, they won't test year round and there's no extra money gained by cleaning up the sport. No incentive to test and incapable of enforcing punishments.
It's never going to happen in our lifetimes.
