Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roy jones jr

Jones would stop Sugarman???? Really??? How???? Jones total bouts 64-------Stopped 4 times. Sugarmans total 200------Stopped ONCE!!! by attrition!! I can't easily pick who wins but the fact is when Jones lost all the muscle to fight Tarver and came in horridly gaunt, he shortened his career and punch resistance so those KO's are not of Jones at his best. Again, people need to stop picking one fighter at their worst to compare to another. Prime Jones NO ONE stops and prime Jones was not even a 175 pounder. At 168, he was a human miracle. But Jones found out the same as Byrd who took Heavyweight shots and then lost weight and folded to a 175 pound obscure club fighter, and Leonard who was hit by MONSTER punchers folded when he went down from high Middleweight to 154 against Camacho. Same with Dawson.....losing weight does serious damage on what a fighter can withstand and Jones damaged his perfect fighting machine for the rest of his career by what he did to make weight for that first Tarver fight and took about 5 years off his career. I don't know who wins but I suspect Jones would at 168. As far as greateness, I go with Robinson and Ali tied as the best ever.

This is a silly fantasy bout but serious comparinsion of excellent athletes the difference is in the fighting ability!! No one out fights Sugar Ray Robinson and a Roy Jones who's main attribute is speed and cleverness would be in with a fighter that excells at those points also!!! The greatest fighter ever spent MORE time as a Middleweight than as a Welterweight! Robinson is considered the best Welter & Middle ever, the reason he might be debated against is when someone doesn't have the skills to evaluate boxing talents and boxing IQ!!! Most fans don't know the difference between a rowing jab or crossover steps than they do about "looking overb the fence" or backing out in a straight line" !!!! Simple boxing observations and correct techniques are never part of a conversation because most have NO idea about the technical dynamics in the sport!!! Ray Robinson is the same size height and at 160 the day of the fight would hit harder with both hands than Roy would!!! Roy can't clown with the greatest because he could be a sleep at any moment!!! hahaha!!!!! Sugarman catches up by 10th and the fight is stopped! Roy Jones has never faced anyone with the skills and the work rate of a Sugarman!!! Ray.

If you are going to look at both fighters, LOOK AT THEM AT THEIR BEST, don't pick one when he was not at his best. Jones fought guys with solid jabs and won.

Roy Jones would win at 160 pounds in my opinion. Robinson may have been the best welterweight of all time but not the best middleweight of all time. He lost middleweight fights to guys that were not as good as Roy Jones. A prime Robinson lost his middleweight title to Randy Turpin. He came from behind to KO Turpin in the 10th round of a rematch but I don't think Turpin would ever beat Jones. A 32 year old Robinson lost a fight by a wide margin to Ralph Jones who was not a top ten rated middleweight. He never fought Ralph Jones again. Robinson also lost his middleweight title to welterweight champion Carmen Basilio. No welterweight could ever beat Roy Jones in my opinion.

I still think H2H Roy could beat any MW in the history of boxing, just by being athletic. I could see SRR giving him major problems, and sapping his energy by round 6-7. lol.... yeah by running..... look.... i know roy's camp said.... he had one hand against bernard in their first fight.... but roy still looked bad.... and although the scores were favorable to roy, it was a close fight.... bernard did something.... something old school.... he doubled up his jab and closed the distance on roy.... now bernard isn't as fast as guys like ray rob.... montell griffin backed roy up to the ropes using his jab..... u think ray robinson would have done the same? plus rays left hook.... go to the body.... go to the body.... feint to the body.... go to the head.....

ray fought at middle in a time when same day weigh in's was the thing. roy is a natural supermiddle/light heavy. ok.... you meant weight.... but in this scenario, i guess we're assuming all things are equal.....

That was it for roy, he only fights tough guys to get a belt Beat hopkins for toney's vacant belt but never defended against someone legit Beat Toney for his biggest win and never fought the other top guys when champ Beat bums to get his Light heavy belt (40 year mcCallum) Lou Del valle, but he did clean out the 175 division except for Michalewski but i dont blame roy for that Beat Ruiz at heavy but never defended Barely beat tarver, then got ko'd by tarver and Johnson, then took the fights everyone wanted to see in the past like hopkins 2, Calzaghe, tito Roy only headlined like 2 PPV in his prime and they were a decade apart, in between toney and ruiz he fought BS competition

It'd be close. ray was a little smaller then roy. ray had a better chin, but dealt with guys that didn't hit as hard as roy, on the flipside i don't think roy fought anyone that hit as hard as ray either. ray was 5'11, just like roy.....
