I was watching Canelo vs Trout again, as I normally like to study fighters when a big fight is announced, and I am actually more certain that Trout would give Floyd problems then Canelo. I am not saying I don't think Canelo will do well, but I am not certain he will. With Trout, I think that southpaw jab, the skills, the speed would make for a very technical and complicated fight for Floyd, it may be boring but it would be highly competitive and a fight where Floyd might struggle to overcome Trout's size and jab.
I would like to see this fight, I think Trout should try and get himself in with another name fighter, maybe one of the other champions, or a Mosley and get himself back in position to fight the winner. He hardly disgraced himself against Canelo, it was a close fight and hard to score. I also thought Trout's win over Cotto was just as impressive as Mayweather's.
Catchweight king? :nono: this isn't a Pac related question, this is about Floyd & Trout, aprende a leer bien vato.
He's contesting for 4 belts at 152, including the lineal one. That's more bigger CW belts than Pac for his whole career, in one huge CW extravaganza, fit for a CW King
The Catchweight King wouldn't fight Trout at the 154 limit.

Even though Canelo beat Trout, Trout stylisticlly presents Mayweather with more problems. He's a southpaw counter puncher. Not saying he could beat Mayweather, just that Mayweather wouldn't of fought him if he won against Canelo.
Winky, Pernell Whitaker, Marvin Hagler, but it is a rarity so you are right.
Im with u on Winky but when I think great jab I think Hearns, Vernon Forrest, and Cotto.
Yeah but you have to remember that Trout wasn't expecting that kind of a fight from Alvarez (he even said it post fight). He was expecting Alvarez to come right at him and try to bang the body, he was caught off guard. With Floyd, there is no question that you are going to have a moving target.
Well that's the difference between Trout and Mayweather; even if Mayweather came in with a particular game plan, he'd quickly adjust once he realized it wouldn't work. Most recent successes against FMJ have been early in the fight (Judah, Hatton, Mosley). Cotto had more consistent-yet-marginal successes throughout the fight. Of course, you could pull some triangle theories on Cotto-Trout-(Alvarez), but I'm not convinced. The only guarantee is that Trout v. FMJ would be considered a snoozefest and casual fans would boycott the fight.

miguel cotto. the best southpaw jab out surprised u forgot.
EDIT: nevermind. cotto usually fights ortho but his ortho jab is great. smh long night for me
That great southpaw jab that landed about 15% against Canelo. You cant say great jab and southpaw in the same sentence. Beside Micheal Moore how many southpaws have a great jab? Not many.

Trout is a match up nightmare for Floyd. Trout can just use his length and reach advantage to jab Floyd all night long. It would make for a boring fight but Trout can realistically pull it off.
Even though I can't stand Trout's style, I do admit that he'd be troubling against anyone at 154, not Floyd though and I doubt the outcome would change against Canelo as well.
if alvarez can sit on the ropes and make trout miss every punch, im not so sure
