Both fighters coming off losses.....
Pacquiao coming off back to back defeats.... and the worst knock out defeat of his career....
and Rios being exposed as a one-dimensional slugger, tailor made for Pacquiao....
Rios is a 'some-what' credible name for Pacquiao to regain his confidence...
Sure he's tough.... but Margarito's a great example of what tough gets you against Pacquaio....
Rios is a young fighter, who's moving up a weight division and is probably too brave for his own good and could face a career threatening defeat... is it worth it?
and for those who think Pacquiao's slipped... or lost a step.... fighting guys like Marquez, Mayweather, Martinez, Ward is a far different proposition from facing the likes of Rios and Margarito....
Sure, they'll work hard and have some success but ultimately they're there to be hit all day....
This is effectivelly Pacquiao fighting a smaller version of Margarito.... Margarito's only advantage against Pacquiao was size.... Rios doesn't even have that.... it's a horrible fight, in terms of the fighters being evenly matched....
I'd be more excited to hear Manny was retiring. Not because I don't like him, but because I do.
Scary seeing anyone stretched out motionless like he was for so long. He has nothing left to prove, even a fight with Mayweather only pads a bank account that should feed his great-great-great grandchildren and send them to college.
So, no, I'm not excited. Should be a decent fight, but I don't want to see Manny in the ring again for his own good. He's given me plenty of entertainment and I hope he takes care of himself.
It happens man. Duran got iced nasty, and went on to have a productive rest of the career, right? PWill ate everything sharpshooter Lara hit him with, and kept swinging like Sergio never happened. OTOH you could be right, Pac has earned the right not to be nannied.

Only reasons to be excited is that its an all action fight..
Dont fans want action fights-it doesnt get any better than this
I posted earlier that everyone will be interested to see how manny will be after the ko..
remember Roy jones got iced by tarver, came back for a tuneup vs glen johnson and got iced even more brutally, glen johnson was never elite but always came to fight, so does rios, so its not a given that manny walks thru rios... He might get ko'd again
Only way to know is to buy the ppv
Personally im very excited about all the unknowns in this fight
oba carr is nobody at all to write home about, so i'm not sure what your point is.
by the rhetoric i'm picking up from the rest of thread it appears as though this is some sort of roundabout way of discrediting manny pacquiao?
Oba Carr would own Rios , I thought in a roundabout way it was about putting Rios into true perspective as an opponent for an elite fighter , Rios is a B grade fighter that got beat by B grade fighters , now he is fighting Manny in a PPV , why should Manny be given credit for it ? when he could have fought the guy that beat Rios or he should have fought at least a WW .
same here, not excited but will watch it coz I'm curious if Manny has anything left and I'm sure this will not be a boring fight...

this matchup is a stylistic dream...two guys with massive ko power who always fight with a warrior's mentality, i f/ckin' love it.
sadly, it's a bit of a mismatch though. i only wish bam bam had a little more speed and was more technically proficient. this will be a hattonesque type of fight.
Even if Rios isn't quite up to the same level of quality as PacMan's last few fights he still brings a lot to the table. He is going to come to fight and I figure this will turn into a firefight. That said I think Rios won't be able to handle Pacquaio's power and will get KO'd before the 7th round.
Rios is a tune up. He's done nothing of note at 140 let alone 147
Carr vs Delahoya was a better fight and that was off of PPV for christ sakes :lol1:

Not really but I will watch because I am a boxing fan and I know Rios will do what ever he can to at least try to win

i wasn't trying to "expose" anybody, and that's really not what happened. i'm not here to own "flowmos, pactuurds, etc."
oscar was off ppv twice in the 2000s, i believe, and a few more times in the 90's when he was a ppv type draw.
my only point is that brandon rios is not a tune up. stevie forbes was a tune up. rios is at least in his prime and very good fighter.
this should be a hellish fight. i just don't like that i have to pay 70 for it.
Even Bernard Hopkins said Rios is no tune up and super dangerous fighter for Pacquiao coming off that type of KO, and all the Flowmos were hating on him because he gave some props to Manny their enemy calling him brave for fighting Rios while they were calling it a tune up or bum fight.
It should make for fireworks as long as it lasts. I think the PPV from Macau is going to be a massive flop though.
maybe.
excited about it? no, but i think a lotta boxing fans are curious to see how much JMM's KO has affected Pac.
Anybody complaining about this fight is an idiot...
Pac just got laid out, Rios has an entertaining style, and is in his prime....
Yeah sure it will probably look like manny-david diaz fight but who no one knows how the ko will affect manny
Remember THE GREAT ROY JONES got ko'd by tarver and then took a tuneup with Johnson and got Ko'd again even more brutally.... And it was the end of Roy as an elite fighter..
Same thing can happen to Manny in this fight with rios
I'm only intrigued to see where Manny Pacquaio is at. Does he have anything left?
I'm not very excited about the actual fight but like all Pacquaio fights, I'll be watching.
Not right now, no. But when it's an hour away I will be.
I'm righting Pacquiao off as completely finished after that devastating KO to Marquez, if he comes back and looks great it will be huge for boxing. I'd love to see Rios land at least 1 big shot and see Pacquiao take it like nothing.

yeah i know, you exposed him accidentally, by bothering to read his stuff carefully :lol1:
And right, the difference between Forbes and this is that this one will be fun to watch, guaranteed
Hey you just missed New England exposing you and your "off on the timing" facts

He. Was Sble to fight PAC bc he signed to top rank. Arum will not work with Floyd and dlh so stop acting like Floyd didnt try to make the fight
Floyd did try to make the fight, he even went on camera say he only wanted the best and he wanted PAC. Well the next day he did say he never said that but all that count was he said he wanted PAC!:lol1:
I'm not really stoked for the fight, but I will definitely watch it because it will be an entertaining fight. Pac needs to bounce back from his KO loss I don't think Rios will pose major problems to him.
