Mayweather did lots of bragging about himself only fighting guys at the weight they fight at and are comfortable at. He did lots of trashing of Pacquiao for fighting Cotto at a top weight of 145 for Cotto's welterweight title. Then Mayweather, who is the current WBA 154 pound superchamp tells Canelo they will fight for the 154 pound title at 147 or no fight. They settled on 152 so Mayweather is having Canelo lose the same two pounds that he and some of his fans gave Manny so much crap about. He is a liar and a hypocrite but 152 is not so bad and good for Schaefer for getting this great fight made. Schaefer said he would put this fight together and I did not think he could, but he did. Both Mayweather and Canelo gave in and I give Floyd credit for taking this dangerous fight against a bigger, much younger fighter.

Floyd has fought at 154 with no problems. But because Canelo is actually in his prime unlike DLH and Cotto it suddenly became a problem. Alovarez is NOT in his prime, he's a 22 year old kid with his best days to come in the next 4-6 years. He had NO amateur career, and is learning on the job. Yes the ignorant casual fans have been urging him to fight the top men for the past 2-3 years when he was obviously not ready. He's only had one real test, Trout, and he needs at least 3-4 more. He's being fed into this fight far too quickly, something like David Reid and Fernando Vargas against Trinidad, although a better case can be made for Vargas who, at least, had beaten a few top men.
