The more I watch this fight the more I feel it was a disgrace. Poor Kessler was writhing in pain with those brutal cuts, and not one was caused by his feather fisted punches.
IMO in Denmark he would have been disqualified.
Who else agrees?
lol at all Froch fans for the last couple days trying to discredit Ward for woping everybody in his weigh class.Hopkings or Ward are gonna mercykill Froch:buttkick:
Warnings -> deduction -> DQ
It wouldve been fair, but Ward wouldnt have done it enough to get DQ'd if the ref had been better.
Ward took advantage of a **** ref. Kessler would never beat him but as a fan of Ward, i cant honestly appreciate that fight

I don't have a problem appreciating it, Ward was beating the crap out of Kessler for about 3 or 4 rounds before there were any headbutts. The headbutts had nothing to do with who won the fight. Ward was that much better.
I've seen hundreds of fighters fight worse than that and have nothing said to them. So no, he shouldn't have. I won't argue with anyone that says he should have at least been warned and especially not with those who say he should have had a point deducted for that one headbutt where he definitely flew in headfirst on purpose.
It's been a while since I've seen the fight but there was definitely one headbutt that I can recall being completely intentional. He charged in like an excited billy goat. Kessler should have started throwing subtle elbows when he rushed in with his head.
Like I said, he closed the distance to neutralize Kessler's offense. Kessler's own trainer told him to do the same thing against Froch : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YmG0vi2F0c#t=50m5s
Everybody knows what this routine is about and who the nationalists are behind all the crying about headbutts and Ward cheating in the Kessler fight. Ward destroyed Kessler - he utterly dominated him with incredible ease. That was Calzaghe's "best win" up until that moment. Now Calzaghe's "best win" is him losing to Hopkins. :lol1:
Jack Reese is one of the greatest referee's of all time.......We are lucky to have him in the sport. Jack Reese, Steve Schmoger, Eddie Cotton, and Arthur Mercante Jr. are all tremendous referee's and deserve to be in the hall of fame
Apart from Smoger, those are some of the most rediculous refsin the sport.
Cotton in Lewis/Tyson - Wow!
Oakland, CA - Ward in the avi. Wouldnt expect you to have an agenda......
hell no
the headbutts obviously didn't do Kessler any good
but Ward didn't need that to beat him
Ward's a boxer but he's rough on the inside, shit happens
without the headbutts, Kessler still wasn't gonna win that fight

Isn't the rule that you get a point deducted for 20 clinches?
Ward initiated 90+ clinches and leaped in with his head 4-5 times and cut Kesslers face to bits.
Simple answer, yes he should have been DQ'd.
Only Battling Nelson and butt hurt Brit's think he should have. True story.
Which leaves Americans lol, and they're hardly going to say he should have been disqualified.
Anyway, there is a Canadian and I think a couple of Mexicans on the thread who think he should have been dealt with by the officials.
I like Andre Ward, he beat Froch fair and square but they did Kessler dirty in CA.
DQ'ed? Please..
A point taken away would have been appropriate, two would be a stretch but not out of the question in denmark. A DQ would be absurd anywhere, there werent as many headbutts as kessler fans and ward haters want to pretend there were. Also some werent any more wards fault then they were kesslers but people just blame ward for all of them regardless.
Headbutts or not ward outclassed kessler in evey area, it wasnt even competetive. Obsessing over a few fouls that werent called doesnt change the fact that ward is ten times the fighter kessler ever was and would dominate him anywhere under any circumstances. Anyone who denies that is just delusional.
i know that trashing ward is in right now, and that hugging on froch's generous manhood is enjoyable.
still, we've got to make sure we mention that kessler initiated a ton of those clinches himself, and he played along with virtually all of them.
unless one guy is herculean strong, it takes two to clinch. you can keep your hands free and continue to punch if you want to.
None were intentional that I can remember, even then, all the warning or point deductions in the world wouldn't have made it close, Kessler got schooled, think people need to move on. Another thing, if Kessler felt victimized then he should have taken it upon himself to fight dirty.
Gonna re-watch the fight again, it's been that long.
He wasn't warned. The perverted thing about it, was that it was Kessler who was told by the ref. that he was about to be DQ'ed.
That was the single worst referee performance in the last decade.
Obviously you've never seen Mares vs Agbeko 1
