HBO to showtime-:killyou:
Also what network televise Lebedev-Jones.
Fair enough, but how is that showtimes fault or to HBO's credit?
People are praising networks when they have little to do with how the fight turns out. If you look at this year so far and fights scheduled for the rest of the year, Showtime > HBO by a mile.
I would never even discuss this if people weren't falsely crediting or discrediting each network. And honestly, I'm really just trying to understand how and why people are even arguing about this... It's unbelievable to me, and I can't wrap my head around it..
If you don't have both networks, how can you call yourself a hardcore boxing fan?
Bu that's not true. Showtime has put on more quality fights this year. HBO has just been fortunate for more of their fights to turn out as FOTY.
You are acting as if HBO is making all the decisions and match making. They buy the fight if it interests them. That's it, and basically at this point they have to buy mostly top rank fights.
Showtime > HBO as far as quality fights this year. HBO and showtime have delivered nothing but a paycheck. How exciting the fight is, was up to the fighters and to a lesser extent the promoters.
Dude I can't agree with you here..Bradley Marquez is one of the most meaningful fights that can happen for the rest of the yr..Unless Mayweather fights Alvarez..Pac vs Rios also can compete with Garcia vs Matt's(in terms of action and significance)I think they are pretty evenly match(meaning the networks)and they can keep giving us some great fights..
I mean how meaningful was Matt's Peterson..Just as meaningful as Froch Kessler and Bradley Prov are..It could set up a big Froch Ward fight in the UK,Bradley Prov set up Bradley Marquez..I really can't agree with you that Showtime put on the more meaningful fights bro..I also can't agree with you that they have the more meaningful fights moving forward..
BTW I have both networks,I have to say imo HBO is doing a slightly better job..Give it to the fighters or whatever, but for my money,HBO has put on the better shows..
Maybe, but the fights turned out better..That's just the way the cookie crumbles sometime..I said both Networks have put together some good fights, but HBO has out shined Showtime in the action that was delivered..
Which is why most of the FOTY fights have been on HBO..Both have made some really good match-ups..HBO delivered better fights..That's the only point I'm making..

Showtimes fights were much better quality of competition. HBO had some FOTY cands but.... lets be real rios-alvarado is two mid lvl fighters and you knew it'd be a war. Bradley-Prov turned into a foty but... nothing to do with HBO it was scheduled as a one sided schooling but Bradley fought dumb and made it good. TBH Showtime is putting the more quality fights together by FAR, just turns out the mis-matches hbo are putting together don't always go as planned, is how I see it. Either way watch both... enjoy the sport....
The Networks wanted this kinda comp tho..They directly went after one another when they started dealing with mainly one promoter..Like it or not they both issued a challenge to the other..It is a great thing for the fans tho,and forcing the best fights to made tbh..
Just for the sake of argument. How exactly has HBO been better this.year. Arguably the best fight was considered a huge mismatch.

and i hope they keep competing to make great fights win win for the fans
:boxing:
I never said showtime needs to step up (and im not a fanboy just love great fights) ,theyve put up great matchups, but those great matchups didnt live up to the hype like
canelo-trout,may-ghost,mares-leon,garcia-judah,peterson-matthyese alexander-purdy
those were good fights but none better than hbo's.
hbo may have put up a lot mismatches and repeated rematches
but at least they gave fans something to remember.
showtime put up great matchups, its the fighters that didnt deliver
hbo put up mismatches, but the fighters delivered.:cool2:

Showtime were already doing big thing with their limited budget like the super six and Bantamweight tournament and now HBO cut their boxing budget while Showtime put more money in the sport
What a mess Mayweather did to boxing. Fans now argue about networks. Showtime put all their eggs in one basket spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a diva, sprinkling crumbs on their other fighters and that is good? The Mares undercard was more entertaining than the main event. How much did Mares and Deleon got? It will make you puke.no one is arguing im simply giving props,if showtime did this i would have gave them props as well.
:afro:
Showtime has put on more relevant fights though. So again. Still missing the point.
And the only reason I am debating this is because all kinds of HBO fan boys are saying showtime needs to step it up. Step what up? They have put on tons of great fights this year. Has HBO had a few more that could be considered foty. Yes, but what does that have to do with giving the fans god fights? Not every fight can be foty.I never said showtime needs to step up (and im not a fanboy just love great fights) ,theyve put up great matchups, but those great matchups didnt live up to the hype like

Who cares who had "more" fights this
year, Quality Over Quantity!!
And Im not a hbo fanboy, its a good thing networks are competing, win win for the fans, i just gotta give HBO their props, theyre hosting great fights.:boxing:

No, the fighters give the fights the fans want, and there have been plenty on each station.. Which to me is irrelevant to which station it was. And actually, Showtime has had more big fights this year, and more fights scheduled then HBo also.
i'm honestly extremely confused how this has turned into some fan boy competition between networks?Who cares who had "more" fights this
year, Quality Over Quantity!!

Oh please child would you just chiiilll:bottle::bottle:
Who cares if it was a mismatch,in the end it was FOTY candidate for a reason,
and thats what boxing is all about,GREAT FIGHTS!!!!
And thats how HBO been better this year, cuz they gave the fans THE FIGHTS TO REMEMBER!!

It has always been that way. Always will be that way! Its only gonna get worst for Showtime now that Floyd is with them.
You just :killyou: your own "logic." Cognitive dissonance is strong with you.
It's obvious that the Promotional and the Networks want some kind of Comp..So it's no wonder people are looking at it this way..TBH HBO has had the better fights..Even tho both Networks have made some really good fight..
Nothing wrong with stating who is doing better at the moment..

The thinh is though showtime has put on more fights, has more fights scheduled and they are just as if not more legit then showtimes. I'm still failing to see why people would choose sides in something like this.
