I'm looking at the list of Golden Boy Opponents, and everything seems to be leading right into a Amir Khan fight.
ESPN is reporting Devon Alexander has fractured his hand from Saturday's fight. He's out
Matthysse vs Garcia looks like it's going to be made for September 7th
Lamont Peterson vs Zab Judah looks like could be the undercard or Matthysse vs Garcia.
The Canelo fight isn't happening (yet).
The winner of Maidana vs Lopez? Highly unlikely...
There's only one name that comes to mind...

I don't know why there'd be an outcry regarding a potential Mayweather - Khan fight. Outside of Alvarez, Mayweather - Khan is the most intriguing match-up.
Let's be honest, Mayweather would easily outpoint Garcia and Matthysse as they don't have the speed, jab, or length to trouble Mayweather.
Khan's jab, combined with his speed, height, and reach, could give Mayweather a few problems, and I believe he'd definitely steal a few early rounds unless he was caught, but Mayweather is hardly the biggest puncher in the world, and he wouldn't run Khan down like Maidana, Peterson, or Diaz.
I see Mayweather winning in a 7-5/8-4 type of decision. Khan would have little chance of winning, but he'd bring the best out of Mayweather and make it an exciting fight that's for sure.
Floyd is a great puncher and deadly accurate which makes up for 1 punch KO power he would place his punches perfect on Khan.

I'm okay with Alexander. Devon is a good fighter; he's not very exciting, so what? He does what he does with his skills, and put a stomp on Maidana.
Floyd vs. Alexander I'm coming around to; especially if the alternative is Khan.
ps Alexander has to beat Berto though.
pss just kidding; I actually enjoy Floyd's fights a lot, just get annoyed at his ultra fans
You're ok with Alexander but not Khan? We're talking about an exciting fighter, with a huge British fan base vs a boring fighter with no fan base. Alexander has hardly proved more than Khan if you are honest and say he didn't deserve the wins against Kotelnik and Matthysse.
On a pure fighting standpoint, Khan and Alexander are at a similar level, but Khan is faster, stronger, and has a better jab. He's 500% more exciting. That alone should put him ahead of the wholly uninspiring Alexander.
For probably the 1,000,000th time in this thread Khan can't fight him because of Ramadan.
On a side note Devon has a much bigger dan base than both Ortiz and the Ghost so don't give me thay. Devon draws better than almost all fighters when he fights at or around St. Louis.

The actual sleeper in K-9 Bundrage cause of what Floyd did to his wife you could sell that fight not one i want see. I just want them to save the Canelo fight until next until I go go back to Vegas.
Who are these people you talk about? Numbers say 7-1 underdog that out of every 7 people only 1 thought Guerrero had a chance to put it in perspective so you can understand how odds work: out of 700 people only 100 thought Guerrero had a chance if that.
That's not how betting works.
LOL..Wrong.
When Floyd/Alexander was announced a lot people were begging for him to fight Guerrero because it was the lesser of two evils. They thought Guerrero would push him more because he had an exciting style.
Didn't really look so exciting on May 4th did he? Serves them mother ****ers right. You got what you asked for.
Now your going to get Danny Garcia, another slow flat footed fighter because he's "more exciting" and "popular" than Devon.

I still have faith that it's Canelo next.
If it is, after that it will be the Matthysse-Garcia winner.
After that, the Khan-Alexander winner.
I think this is the "Plan" Schaefer is constantly referring to.
Here's what should happen for Floyd's last 5 fights.....
September 2013: Canelo Alvarez
May 2014: Lucas-Garcia winner, maybe even enough time to have the winner fight a possible Ortiz/Guerrero winner in December or January.
Fall 2014: Khan-Alexander winner vs someone like Berto/Brook, and who ever came out of that
May 2015: Someone like Keith Thurman if he puts together a streak of wins possibly
Fall 2015: Manny Pacquiao, he will have fulfilled his last 4 fights with Arum by this time, and I don't think Floyd or Manny will leave all the money on the table this fight could possibly generate.

Not interested in that, Alexander would be the weakest puncher Floyd would have faced since? Alexander has enough to more than warrant Khan's respect, actually hurt him, but Floyd's respect for Alexander's power will be at an all time low, I wouldn't be shocked if Floyd got him out of there. By the way, I wouldn't care for the fight in that, not many options out there, out of the 5 fights I reckon we'll be discontent with at least 2 of them but it's whatever man.
you may be right, he may not respect his power at all. I can't argue with that, I've already thought about it, but this division is just so lacking in realistic competition Alexander doesn't look all that bad anymore. And again, I'm actually coming around to the idea that he could bring something different to the table that a lot of these other guys are lacking. And if he does fight and beat one of these other welters, perhaps Guerrero or maybe Berto, it legitimizes his shot at Floyd and makes it a more acceptable option (and maybe Khan although not really welter yet and I probably shouldn't have said winner of that fight "should" get a shot at Floyd considering Khan's recent lapses, but if won in good fashion it can be sold.)
Garcia-Matthysse should be fighting one another. Khan won't return until December it appears. If not Canelo, Alexander is the only option. You say his style isn't favorable (to whom? Floyd? Fans? they pay to watch Floyd box), well, I actually find the match-up...for lack of a better word, fresh. I know I disregarded the prospect of that fight just months ago, but I'm willing to believe Alexander will try something different, and that's intriguing to me. Even Floyd was laughing about how all these guys come with basically the same gameplan, walk forward and try to pressure him, on All Access. I imagine Alexander would give Floyd a somewhat different look. He's an athletic guy, he has good stamina, he can box a little bit. We can't get Floyd-Bradley, why not Alexander then? He's really the only boxer there for Floyd to fight other than Trout. He's not necessarily the ideal boxer I'd have wanted Floyd to face, but he's what's out there so :dunno: I'm curious enough. Now would it generate much interest? I dunno, probably just as much as Guerrero did, who apparently only had 3 fans and if that was a "financial success" then why not?
Ideally this fight would make better sense if he had beat Brook...if Khan-Alexander happens then winner should be given a shot.

Being serious for a second, a spectacular win over Karass arguably puts him back in the picture.
LMAO that would be hilarious. Especially if he came out trying to use his ****ty attempt at the shoulder roll.
If Floyd doesn't fight Canelo then who does he fight?
Bradley and JMM are signed to fight, GBP is trying to get Matthysse and Garcia lined up for 9/7, Floyd is only moving up to 154 for a mega fight so that leaves basically everyone out that isn't named Cotto or Canelo, the timing of Paulie Broner leaves that winner sitting out due to timing, Martinez is out the rest of the year, and Khan has Ramadan.
So the only realistic options outside of Canelo are Alexander and a rematch with Cotto. Maybe Trout I guess, but I doubt Floyd fights the guy Canelo beat. I mean who am I missing?

i argued with you countless times that the margarito fight was not as lucrative as taking the baldomir fight just based on the fact that baldomir had the ring championship and the wbc (i think)
sometimes i couldnt imagine being this dude, spending literally on your time on site obessing over one man, making homsexual and bigoted/racial remarks over and over all day every day. its almost pathetic to a great degree.
Yeah, I argued with all of these guys I apparently "Hang off the nuts of" :lol1:
Day in, day out. Plenty of those posts will still be there to this day.
Any one that's been on here a while and even the new guys will tell you I've critisized Mayweather when there has been reason to critisize I.e Margarito in 2006 and Johsnton in the early 00's.
But of course, that's an "invention" :lol1:
There is pretty much no one.
That's why I think Canelo is next.
Yeah, Canelo is obviously the front runner to land the fight. However, this wouldn't be the first time the best fight out there fails to get made :theyareon
Interesting if true, but I'm sure they wouldnt have had any problem pulling out of the brook fight in favour of a much more lucrative fight with Floyd. I would suggest they were promised the fight after RG. Whatever is the case, I called this one a long time ago.
Like I said, no idea if it was true or not, but that's what they said. I imagine part of the reason Floyd wanted Devon was because he had a title and if they had pulled out of the Brook fight he would have been stripped.

Angel Garcia would help sell the fight.
Khan has been stopped way too many times, and didn't impress against Diaz on top of that.
Alexander, doesn't have a favorable style, doesn't really stand out as a fighter.
It's likely to be Garcia, undefeated sells and Angel makes for good television whether you like him or not.
