Just as Lennon was transitioning from introducing Robert and then Mayweather, Floyd walked by Hopkins and was pointing to his dome to suggest "Be smart, be smart in this fight".
Obviously Golden Boy profits off of Mayweather's events and they want him to win. But does anyone know of the relationship between Floyd and Hopkins? I am just curious to know if Floyd or Hopkins have had respect and good things to say about each other. Floyd's obviously a veteran, future HOFer and professional. But Hopkins knows a thing or two about preservation and still going strong near 50 that Floyd could continue to learn from.
DLH now, I think deep down he hates both of them but because he promotes them he puts on the act that he likes them.
I think he respects B-Hop, but I agree that he hates Floyd deep down. I think Oscar still looks at Floyd like he's a young punk, but gives B-Hop that grown man respect.
They do that to build the fight up so people would pay for it. I mean that much is obvious. If that was true then Floyd would be talking major trash about GB. He knows they are playing their parts by selling the fight so that everyone can profit more. What would it look like if GB said hey Floyd is just gonna walk through this guy? No one would buy the fight if they felt Floyd was going to win because a good chunk of the people who buys his fights wants to see him lose.
yeah i understand that part ofwhat your saying they selling the fight but im saying when the fight is already sold look into the crowd and you will see them hoping floyd looses, meaning if floyd looses he lower his eliteness and someone else that they actually have control over can be the new cash cow like Canelo maybe thats how i see it

I think the point he was trying to make, went way over your head.
In my eyes Hopkins or Golden boy always go against Floyd no matter who he fights if you watch any past fights such as Hatton leading up to the Guerrero look in to crowd when someone does good against floyd and you will see cheers from Golden boy and Company and fake smiles after floyd wins lol but in the guerrero fight hopkins might have been neutral in that one not sure

Hopkins made some comments about Floyd not fighting Pacquiao a while back and how he owed it to the sport to make the fight.
Floyd probably didn't like that but I don't recall him saying anything specific about Hopkins in the past.

Both have ego's and there's always been a competitive intensity between them and they've had some back and forth in the media a few times.
But, they've also shown a lot of respect for each other on many occasions. It's clear they have a lot of respect for each other.
Yeah they both got egos and I dont think they really like each other based on some comments they make but I dont think they flat out hate each other either. Some boxers are friends, some arent, theyre just in the arent category.

all i remember is floyd being butthurt at hopkins because hopkins brought mosley over after the marquez fight.
"C'mon man, we played basketball together!"

Yeah thats true he had an aching vagina after that one.
They actually have a true love/hate relationship. One minute they are praising eachother and the next they are going at eachothers throat. I haven't heard any beef in a long time though so I think they are cool now

If he was I think Floyd might even see that as an insult. Why the fu#k would Floyd Mayweather need anyone to tell him to fight smart?

I don't know of they are close or anything like that. But both have a respect for each other in "hitting and not getting hit". These 2 are the last of the old school type of fighters.

Anyone notice Hopkins telling Floyd to use his head before Ghost fight? | BoxingScene Community
