Sorry, but I'm reading to much BS regarding Floyd / Canelo fight and thought I'd put across some facts:
1. Canelo should not fight at 147. He is not a WW.
2. He should not fight at Catch Weight - ( Floyd doesn't fight at Catch Weight and has criticized those who do ).
3. Floyd holds a title at 154 and is universally ranked at number 2.
4. Canelo is the Lineal champ and ranked at number 1.
5. This is a LEGITIMATE fight.
6.I'm sick of hearing Canelos fight night weight - he can make the 154 weigh in and THAT is what matters - These are the rules. Simple.
7. If Floyd doesn't want the fight he shouldn't fight at 154 again - it's that simple.
There's no need to be pedantic.
I think most people would agree that Canelo is the Lineal Champ or the best in the division despite how close the Trout fight was.
No you don't understand. The closeness of the fight was regards to "universally ranked no.2". Just saying people can see it another way.
Canelo isn't the lineal champ because Trout-Canelo was not no.1 against no.2 He simply isn't the lineal champion at 154. Like I said, Mayweather was ranked over Trout. TBRB ranked Canelo at no.5 at 154 at the time of the fight. You're confusing Lineage with the idea who ppl think is the best in the division. There's set criteria for lineage, and Trout-Canelo was far from it, even if the 154 fighters haven't fought much yet
I think the Canelo fight will happen but probably later down the line towards the end of Floyds run. If he has to drop the JMW belt because of inactivity I believe he will. At 36 I'm sure it becomes more taxing to move between 154 to 147 and vice versa every fight.
Either that or he fights Canelo next then leaves the JMW division right after and finishes his career at WW. I honestly dont see him jumping back and forth every 6 months between divisions.
And to further add to #7. he should be stripped of the 154 strap if he has no intentions of defending it.
He didn't defend his WBC belt in about a year and a half. Point is, belts stay where the money is.
This is just posturing on Floyds side. Its all part of negotiations. There will be give and take on both sides. When its all said and done weight wont be an issue. Floyd did the same thing with Manny back in 09. He asked for 154 with 10 oz gloves but they ended up working out 147 with 8 oz gloves. No need to be concerned yet. If the fight takes place it will be at 154.
but that fight didn't happen...

I have a feeling if the 147 demand is true then its just a way of getting Canelo to agree to other terms such as money, ring size, etc...
Floyd's people know this fight will not be accepted at 147, they are just looking to see all they can get from the B side.
Its not a legitimate demand, but a legitimate negotiation tactic. Hopefully we get the fight...
It is a legit fight but its obvious to anybody that Mayweathers best weight is not 154, he fought there before but he didn't look his best when he did. If Alvarez was a 147 lb fighter people wouldn't give him much of a chance to beat Mayweather, its the size advantage on fight night they want to see. Im not saying Alvarez should go to 147 either, that would be stupid, I just mean if he was the same fighter he is now fighting at 147 instead of 154.
I don't think I would watch Canelo fight at 147. They must fight at 154 or there's no fight to make. I think it will happen though. We just have to be patient during negotiations. Remember talks are in their infant stages.
Nop. Canelo is not the lineal champ. He has the RING belt which means nothing. Trout was not ranked over Mayweather at 154. There was no universal rank 2 in the division so a lineage couldn't or shouldn't be started. Mayweather-Canelo would start a lineage. Don't confuse the RING belt with Lineal champ - lineal champions have meaning still.
'Universally' is a strong term considering the Canelo-Trout fight and the huge clear split in who ppl thought won there.
There's no need to be pedantic.

OK - scratch points 1 and 2. The rest still apply.
100%.... Mayweather should fight Canelo at 154, he has a belt there and it's a money fight no arguments there.
These reports are still rumours not facts and they are coming from Canelos manager which says a lot.

Honestly, it's been over a year without one single defense of the title.
