I voted for Golovkin, but that was based more on the hardcore fan in me, as Golovkin's not only undefeated, but exciting to watch, and if he can knock off 2-3 more high profile opponents in exciting fashion
a fight between him and Ward should sell itself. Undefeated's going at it as always fun to watch. Though it probably won't get too mainstream.
Mayweather might not be the most exciting fighter, but his fights sell because of his technical mastery and I believe being undefeated is an additional selling point for Floyd.
Ward won the Super 6 and beat Dawson .. but all this time he's missing is really hurting his chances to capitalize on it and maybe become a Superstar. Then again Ward was never really a big draw, and the dude was an Olympic champ to boot.
Some boxers just aren't terribly popular and at 29, it looks like Andre Ward is going to have trouble becoming mainstream/getting on PPV.
**though Chavez Jr or Golivkin would be big fights for Ward
Either Golovkin or Chavez. Golovkin because of what he brings to the table and especially if he keeps winning. Chavez because he has a bigger following. With that said, Ward doesn't break a sweat in either fight.
As great as he is, he has no spice. Very little it factor. There are nice guys in sports that are also all time greats but he just comes off more as Tim Duncan than Derek Jeter. He needs a strong and loud antagonist if he really wants to sell ppv.
Ward is getting more exciting, I think he knew that was a problem. His last fight was awesome, he stopped dawson (weight drained or not, I was actually rooting for dawson pissed off lol) Maybe if he gets a big exposure fight on HBO against someone like GGG he could do a PPV with Chavez or any other top dog
Yeah I definitely felt he brought a more fan friendly style in the Dawson fight. I'm hoping this continues, but he has a long road back with the shoulder injury he had. Like to see him get back in the mix soon. I think a fight against GGG would be very interesting. Golovkin is a smarter fighter than people give him credit for plus he'll have the power to keep Ward honest. But knowing Ward, he'll smother GGG power with lots of holding. He'll probably win, but it will be an ugly win. I highly doubt he'll open up like he did in the Dawson fight, because he knows he could be in trouble. Make it happen HBO!
Martinez pulled 600k viewers for the Murray fight and Chavez Jr still managed to do all by himself 500k PPV buys. He was also facing Canelo the same night and he still managed to do the same numbers of the Cotto-Margarito fight.. Ward-Chavez Jr with a good 24/7 can easily do more than 600k PPV buys.
That was before Chavez lost. Once fighters lose, interest drops. And now he would be fighting a bigger, better and to some less entertaining fighter in Ward compared to Martinez. Idk if this would be a good ppv.
None. Wards great but he would do horrible ppv numbers. Especially since he doesn't really have a ppv dance partner.

You could be right even though Ward deserves to have just as many PPV fights as other top fighters.
fights aren't ppv worthy so much as fighters are. People just dont seem to gravitate towards him.
Ward could get a PPV fight in the UK or Europe with Froch/Kessler. He's quite popular here
He may be boring, but so is Mayweather. You watch for the technical mastery more so than the fight. The only thing Mayweather has more is his personality which makes ppl watch him to lose, which Ward would never establish anything like
Definitely Chavez, Jr. I'm actually surprised how many of you guys find Ward boring. A few months ago, everyone was saying he's P4P #1, they love watching his fights, etc. I like Ward, but his fights can be just horrible to watch. The Froch fight was exciting(because of Froch imo), but a lot of his previous fights were snoozefests (the Green fight, my god). Chavez, Jr. would definitely help sell the PPV. But really, who can Ward fight around his division that would get people excited? His only downfall is being in such a limited weight class. Could you imaging his options if he fought around 147-160? Then he could sell a PPV no problem because he'd have a B side in the promotions.

Ward-Chavez is the only PPV fight Ward might ever have.

GGG would be the best, but Chavez will probably happen and sell more.
I would also like to see the Dawson and Froch rematches but not at PPV unles Froch demolishes Kessler and Dawson looks back in action too
What Andre Ward fight would make a good PPV fight?
Ward isn't an "A" side yet so the only fighter you listed that would even qualify for ppv right now is chavez jr. Maybe after that in a year if golovkin is still ubnbeaten maybe ward could be the a side against him.
none. if i'm paying anything more than my regular cable/internet bill to watch a fight, it's to see it in person. imagine if you had to pay to watch the superbowl or world series on tv? andre ward vs ANYONE is most certainly not the superbowl of boxing so i'm good on paying to see that.
