According to this article he wants Roach to train him for his next fight, possibly vs. Canelo.
I don't understand why he wants to keep changing corners, it's not the trainer's fault he's fighting out of his weigh class and that he gasses out by the 9th round
All he has to do is get with Mickey Bey and the money team, and get Floyd sr to train him, I heard Bey had the highest testosterone level in Nevada. I wonder what they give them there in the Mayweather boxing club.
lol he probably sleeps in like a giant test tube
I didn't like his choice of Pedro Diaz as his trainer but he has done good for Cotto other than his fight with Trout which he looked overweight and slow but I don't think that was the trainers fault. Cotto is little for that weight class, he will lose either way
Cotto on PEDS would be scary!

I dont understand this. Diaz is the man. I guess cotto wont ever take full blame for a loss.
He doesn't like to be told or bossed around. Everyone knows this about Cotto, and Pedro Diaz scolds him and he didn't like it. So he moved on again, Roach will keep his mouth shut because he wants that paycheck just like he did with Chavez Jr, and Pacquiao, I miss the old Roach, the one who didn't take sh1t from anyone, now he loves those big paychecks that he won't ever show discipline to his fighters anymore.
he wont find a better trainer for himself than Pedro Diaz...
absolutely... notice how many of roach's fighters have been losing lately? Roach isn't that great of a trainer IMO. Diaz is EXCELLENT and helped Cotto give Floyd a very difficult fight. Diaz works Cotto hard.... very stupid move.

Odd choice, Pedro helped him improve big time, he probably likes that Roach well let him do whatever the hell he wants to do in camp, saw it on 24/7 how Roach lets Pacquiao and Chavez run camp which is how Cotto likes it no discipline he hates being told what to do.
Also I heard Roach kicked Alex Ariza out of Wild card, so the key component is the Tandem Roch and Alex, without Alex Ariza, Cotto's conditioning will be crap.
But Cotto better be prepared to travel to the Philippines to train with Manny Pacquiao, Ruslan Provodnikov, Chavez Jr, and Zou Shiming lol.
I doubt he will like that.
Im staring to think this **** is mental for him. Is like he put the blame on his trainer to avoid losing confidence in himself but if it helps him win fights who cares.
Losing to Margs the first time did damage to his psyche he has seemingly never recovered from, even the rematch didn't completely heal it.
Cotto doesn't like to be yelled at and constantly pushed, even though he needs it. A reason he had issues with his uncle and he said Diaz does it during the Mayweather 24/7. It's why he like Steward and Santiago, they're more laid back and Santiago let Cotto call the shots. He needs it though and needs to realize that's where we've seen him at his best.
Some guys respond to different things and even though he may not like it, this is about winning and legacy. It's not supposed to be easy.

Wins. In reality he fought a good fight against Mayweather and Trout. One was too good, the other too big.
It could be that or it could be something completely psychological.
Maybe Diaz has an annoying habit or a rude demeanor that was getting on Cotto's nerves. Maybe Diaz was getting too pushy and Cotto felt like he was overstepping his bounds.
It's hard to speculate unless Cotto himself comes out and states his reasoning.
Success and failure is usually the reason why people stay or leave trainers, but until they actually state their reasoning then it's all baseless speculation.
Just like people judge coaches in football and basketball, you aren't a good fit unless you get the wins. So regardless of performance, maybe Cotto is using that line of reasoning.
A weak chin is a weak chin.......no matter how big you get your chin remains the same. Canelo has never been hit like that ever again since Cotto's brother fight, trust me if a good puncher manages to land one on his chin he will be ko'ed!!! Canelo has managed to build a very good defense since that fight but the question remains about his chin...can he take a punch???
No one has landed a solid punch on him yet since Cotto's fight.
Jose Cotto was landing combinations, but even though he got rocked (a younger) Canelo still took them.
The pretentiousness of this statement is both hysterical and insulting at the same time.
If Pedro was a great fit then Cotto wouldn't be leaving. There was obviously something Cotto felt was lacking.

i think pedro did a good job with cotto but i think he f'ed up the high altitude training for the trout fight. he was obviously in much better shape vs. mayweather. cotto was beating trout and gassed. thats why i still have hope that he's not done.
Cotto needs to stop playing musical chairs with trainers, pedro diaz was a great fit IMO.

This isnt official so dont jump the gun. We dont know any details on the situation yet.
I sure hope so since Freddy will not do anything for Miguel. Diaz will do it for him and Cotto needs to apply himself 150% and train like it was his first pro-fight.
Clean diet, no distractions and work, work, work!!!!!!!
Either way Ill support him!
War Cotto!!!
Chin is ready.
He knows what it takes to be great and that's a start. He knows that you have to give and take. He's been hit good since the Cotto fight and he's ready. The only question I see that needs to be addressed, is his stamina. It has to keep improving and I am sure it will. He has one of the best teams in boxing. They are very knowledgeable vets who won't let him go into a pay-per-view fight unprepared. Get ready everybody because the kid is the REAL DEAL.
