The Ortiz stoppage was BS.. Not because of Floyd, but becaus of Ortiz. He clearly could have got up but wanted a way out, via mexican version of Judah.
Youre telling me ortiz got up from multiple bombs from maidana and Berto but couldnt get up from those love taps from floyd? Fffcckkk outta here
Anyway Floyd seemed to have Cotto gassed and hurt late in the fight and took his foot off the gas..
He couldnt KO a flabby old Marquez who he dominated
Mosley, well no one KOs mosley lol. Canelo couldnt even ko a washed up mosley
His last KO was vs Hatton
What im getting at is no way Floyd KOs guerrero..
Only person i can see Floyd Koing is khan, and MAYBE danny garcia late
I felt that he had a shot of stopping Mosley, Cotto, and Guerrero but it just didn't happen. Really wish Floyd would go for the KO late in his fights once he's completely dominated a guy, would really be icing on the cake. His dominant performances are still very impressive, but I'd like to see him revert to Pretty Boy Floyd and get a guy or two out of there.
It looked like he was trying to stop Guerrero in the 11th. He landed a **** ton of solid rights there but didnt hurt him much. Then in the 12th he didnt try.
Floyd doesn't have a killer instinct for lack of a better word, he could get guys outta there if he REALLY wanted to...but for what?
I'm sure in his mind, what's the point in taking the risk? Its easy work, I got a few more rounds to go...he has nothing more to gain punishing a guy and stopping him...he doesn't get paid overtime or for ending it earlier...
As much as I enjoy his craft unlike other greats, he's not a risk taker...
What you're saying is true, but judging from Floyd's post conferences in recent years, I believe he really feels like he should have stopped some of his opponents.
You could be right, I need to re-watch it but I thought Floyd was starting to tee off on Guerrero and he looked ready to go in one of the later rounds. Other than that, Guerrero did look really sturdy.
Floyd is being a smart boxer and letting the KO come if it comes. Why force it and risk getting hurt yourself? It's a stupid way to be.
Khan will defeat Gayweather
Got news for you, Khan will be long gone within the next year or less. He looked less than impressive in his fight last week and has been exposed many times. I'll be quite disappointed if Floyd decides to fight him.
I never felt he would stop Guerrero, I really didn't think during the fight he would either.
I felt he could have forced a corner stoppage in the Shane fight, Richardson mentioned stopping it several times in the corner if Shane didn't show him something.
And int hat 12th round against Cotto, he had him hurt. He could have finished him.

i think its his fist thats the problem. i wonder if he's really going to fight in september after hurting it again, i thought that was part of the reason why he only fought once a year
was really impressed with how he showed off his footwork at the end of the fight tho

That was not a couple years ago, it's been nearly 10 years ago since he fought Bruseles and Mitchell.
And he only had to fight Bruseles to secure the Gatti fight, and because Top Rank tested him against a Cotto styled fighter. And he only fought Mitchell because Hatton/Cotto didn't want any at 140 in 05', Judah wanted a tune up first (which he ended up losing), and Winky didn't want the fight because he felt he wasn't being offered enough money for taking all the risk in the fight.
we all call floyd a cherrypicker and while it's obviously true just look at the guys he was fighting a couple years ago. henry bruseles, sharmba mitchell. lol. by comparison guerrero does look good.

No..his right hand will never let him. You could tell he throws hard, these guys are big though, they got 10-15lbs on him in the ring. He got a right hand from hell in the first 6-8 rounds until it gets injured, that's it. At 130-140 he was able to still TKO guys, and he can TKO fighters his size. But these WW's that got 10-15lbs on him, expect to see Mayweather UD's until the end. Maybe if he fights Khan, I can see a TKO, that's about it.

Guerreros better than Rios and Alvarado.

Maybe...its not in his interest too...Floyd is smart, he won't put himself in position to even possibly get caught with something big unless he makes a miscalculation like against Shane...other than that, no...
you forget the main reason hatton was ko'd was because his head smashed into a giant pole. he gets hit with the hook and is flailing around then goes completely limp when he hits the pole. no way he gets ko'd without it. his last ko was against mitchell who looked like he just took a dive or gave up on a body shot.
Floyd was on his way to stopping Guerrero. I think he hurt his hand in the 8th round or so on a right hand to the body. He clipped Guerreros elbow and I think thats when his hand started bothering him.
Maybe not....
Mayweather probably has the ability to brawl and fight with reckless abandon, but that isn't a sound strategy. Mayweather's best attributes are his quickness and elusiveness rather than his punching power. The goal for every fighter is to play to his strengths, and that is what Mayweather has been doing since he turned pro in 1996.
As his nickname suggests, Mayweather is all about the money. While there may be a lot of money in implementing an exciting style of fighting, there is also a lot of money in remaining undefeated. Mayweather knows that as long as his record is unblemished, there will be a demand to see his fights, even if they aren't the most exciting. -- Mike Chiari
