I cant think of a time when facing a guy top 5 (top 3 really since pac and bradley are out of the question for obvious reasons) in your division has been considered a cherry pick. Ive been waiting for months for someone to tell me who he should have fought without it being considered a cherry pick.. ill continue to wait :booty:
How Floyd prolongs the announcement of his opponents and keeps everyone waiting as if the opponent is going to be something extra special (people were expecting Andre Ward or at least Sergio martinez as his opponent almost) and it will have been worth the wait, Guerrero is indeed a cherry pick and is a bit anticlimatic after the big build up.
If Floyd isnt going to be fighting extra special people he should keep his announcement a little more low key.
the nerve of floyd. Its as if he had his team announce a fight scheduled for Novemeber 2013 against a JWW moving up that just lost, in April 2013. whoever does something like that must be a real jerk.

It's a decent fight. I actually think the Ghost might give Floyd a rough fight.
Floyd fans shouldn't act all innocent when they have lived on here for years and called Pac's last 5 years a cherry pick.
When you have popular fighters you tend to get strong (stupid) opinions.
Right. Not even Marquez is calling out Floyd, although it would make sense since Juan beat the man. Marquez is a legit welterweight now with that humungous win.
But most people already know the deal. Marquez and his people know the deal. Marquez need to savour his win 'till the last drop and until someone else shows up to claim his title and belts.
JMM is a legit WW for anyone not named Mayweather. You're right, most everyone knows the deal. However as you see some still want it until it actually happened. Then we hear that JMM isn't a WW. Is old. Is fat. Is this or that. It's the same broken record we hear every time.
Well he was willing to drop to 154 (or below!) for the past couple of years. I think he earned the right to make the call with regards to what his body can take, he is a grown man and p4p top 5 after all. And as you saw this weekend, he truly is a small MW, at a disadvantage among full blown MWs.
Martinez will look like Hoya when he fought Pac. Sh*t fight. Unless Floyd moved up to Martinez, nobody will give him credit. Hell EVEN when Floyd moves up to fight the Champions at THIER weight, people STILL cry and make excuses. What do you think they will do about Martinez? Martinez is nearly 40 years old. Is past prime, is this or is that.
Would I pay for it, hell yeah but I wouldn't give Floyd any more credit than I did Pac when fighting Hoya.
You mean Floyd's next fight is Canelo. Okay. I'll take your word for it, man.
Mayweather vs Canelo on September. :biggthump
I'll be looking forward to it.

Ha ha I don't think so buddy. If this fight goes well, there's a chance, but the longer he waits the more money Canelo becomes. So how long can he afford to wait, it's not like Floyd is still a youngster.
Taking Canelo before he fought Trout would be a stupid move. Guerrero is a SOLID opponent on the paper.

You should realize by now that anyone Floyd fights will be considered a cherry pick by the clowns who spend most of their time on this message board (even if his name ends in klitschko).
Why are you a P4P great fighting most of your fights that given you recognition at catchweights and are then consider #1 at those weights when you are making contractual agreements on your opponent having to reach a catchweight to give yourself a handicap?
.
Pac collected a record 6 divisional belts before asking for his first CW. Let me know when your favorite fighter wins his 7th divisional belt without a CW. But chances are your favorite fighter is too small to fight top contenders in his 5th weight class.
But you know, I'd have given Floyd loads of credit if he'd gone for his 6th belt vs Sergio at 158, for example. So would have most Floyd "haters", and his fans would be tripping all over themselves to give him credit. IMO he'd deserve more credit than if he'd taken on Sergio at 154. But 0 credit for refusing to answer the challenge altogether, yet again.
I wouldn't like to see Martinez at 154 due to his age and the fact that he hasn't made that weight in quite a long time. It only makes sense at 160, but we're now going in to the territory of expecting Floyd to do unreasonable things.

DAM! Really? What's the numbers on his Showtime Contract? I heard it was huge, but no one has made the actual numbers public yet. $40 million + per fight is insane!
He has a 6 fight deal over 30 months... it was rumored it was 200 million and with ppvs it will push to 250 million... which is 6 X 40k is 240 million.
Floyd basically confirmed the 250 million in his lead up show on CBS when he said... "All of this is based on 100 million, imagine what Ill do with 250"
Dude's guaranteed 40 million plus to fight Guerrero... Id say he can call himself Money all he wants.
And fight anyone he wants. I have to agree.

Mexican superstar Canelo would have been a more lucrative fight on May 4. Instead, Money Mayweather picked Guerrero who has three fans. Floyd needs to stop calling himself Money.

Floyd had one very easy choice after leaving jail. Canelo was waiting. For a guy who calls himself money this was the most logical and most lucrative fight outside of Pac... Floyd went on a long vacation again. He had to wait for the Guerrero/Berto winner.
:unitedstaNot really. Canelo needed a name on his resume and he got it now. I still dont think itll happen next cause Canelo is going to build still but maybe May 3rd, 2014.

I agree it's slim pickings at 147, but there's a load of fights I'd rather see at him take at 154 than Guerrero, Alexander, or Khan, and some of them are even more marketable (Martinez at 54, Canelo especially)

There's only 1 welter weight that is deserving of a Mayweather fight, and that's Bradley. Everything else can be easily criticized at this point. We're going to see the Canelo fight most likely. For 2014, the fighter that comes out of that 140 tourney will be the most deserving to fight Floyd. Since opposition is thin and they want to fight in the UK...Khan can just have two more wins vs credible opponents (most likely can't do it though) and they're have a fight in the UK for late next year. Either way, they're all not on Floyd's class, even if one of them looks impressive in their previous fights. Pacquiao will be a cherry pick too, unless he avenges his JMM and Bradley losses then it becomes a legit fight again.
