Answer me this, when has Haymon matched his own against each other?
NEVER
He got tired of footing the bill for Fernando Guerrero and came to the realization that there was no financial upside to him so he gave him to Quillen to better Quillen's career. This fight was never in question. Guerrero was a gift from Haymon to Quillen.
I bet if you checked, Guerrero paid Haymon back ALOT out of his final check.
Yeah I mentioned this before, probably had to do a lot with Quillin being isolated on Showtime and lack of Middleweights to fight. Who's next for Peter now? Golden Boy has no middleweights and all the big named guys are on HBO. Maybe some UK fighter or Rubio?
The former champion who never lost the belt, Dmitry Pirog

I bet if you checked, Guerrero paid Haymon back ALOT out of his final check. This is good thing that Al Haymon did last night putting two of his fighters agains't each other. This is good for boxing. Their's nothing wrong with cashing out on your fighter if he doesn't bring anything to the table get it together.
OK so don't complain them when he don't let his other fighters fight since people are just going to make up theories when he let his fighters fight each other
Quillin was just the better fighter, it was a WIN/WIN for Haymon regardless who would have won, who ever wins that is who you Promote More
by the way Haymon is listed as an "Advisor" to Quillin not Manager, I don't even think a Manager can have his fighters fight each other
I had no idea that he was a fighter represented by Al Haymon, isn't that a conflict of interest?
Everything Haymon does is a conflict of interest for the sport of boxing. He has single handedly killed the sport by building his fighters against crap opposition that usually comes up 1 or 2 weight classes. Further, he puts this garbage in prime and valuable television spots. The fringe fan turns on the TV and sees garbage and is lost from the sport.
A singular commission or league and a singular ranking system and rules with ONE champion per weight class and a computerized ranking system would put an end to all of the Haymon, GBP and Top Rank garbage. This commission would cut the deals with NBC, ESPN, Showtime and HBO and would forecast an annual boxing schedule with these networks. ESPN and NBC would get the fights that vie for ranking between 11-20 and Showtime and HBO would get the fights that pit Top 10 fighters against each other. Managers would be like Agents and would only have influence in negotiating the boxers contract and not negotiating as to when and who they fought.
Club shows would be the minor leagues and singular promoters would be free to have a stake in the minor leagues.
I am sorry, i'm lost, since when has Fernando Guerrero been an Al Haymon fighter? Was this a new signing?
He was signed by Haymon before his fight with Jesse Nicklow on SHOBOX.
Okay I see he is.
One interesting aspect of the fight was that it marked the first time that powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon, whose stable also includes Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Garcia, matched two of his fighters against each other.

How come Guerrero is no where to be seen in Haymon fighter lists though?
This happens all the time in boxing. Arum and GBP do the same thing.
theres a difference though in the role of a "manager" vs the role of a "promoter". Per the Ali act, it is against the law for a "manager" to represent both sides of a fight. The reason is that a "manager" has a fiduciary duty to the fighter, where the "promoter" does not. So therefore it is impossible for a "manager" to adequately represent both sides of a fight.
Think about it. Say for example there is $1 million in the fight to split up. Every dollar the "manager" negotiates for fighter "a" comes out of fighter "b" pocket. How can you represent both sides when you are negotiating against one sides interests?
Now perhaps calling yourself an "advisor" skirts the intent of the Ali act, but I dont think so. I would suspect, that to be in compliance with the intent of the law, that Haymon allows one side of the fight to obtain independent representation for that fight if they want to......
Yea, looks like Haymon realized that Guerrero will never pan out to anything so he just gave him to Quillin. That and theres nobody at 160 for Quillin to fight so a soft chinned Guerrero would do nicely in BK
This happens all the time in boxing. Arum and GBP do the same thing.
Not disagreeing and yes it does. The point was:
1. Haymon has never done it
2. When GBP and Arum do it, it is about monopolizing the card because they are the promoter and don't want to let anyone else in on the money. Haymon is not a promoter(legally). Haymon invest signing bonuses, training camp expenses, stipends, etc... into fighter and recoups when his fighters fight for big purses. The promoters get TV, Gate and sponsorship revenue and don't need a particular fighter to win to further their money.
