Even with instant replay the commission blew the second knockdown. Murray clearly knocked Sergio down a second time. The punch grazed his head, but got him in the ear. The ear controls equilibrium which is the reason Sergio lost his balance. Even with the failure to count the knockdown Murray won by 1 or 2 points. Another hometown GIFT decision. Now you know why Dibella is protecting his fighter from Pirog, GGG, and KC etc. Any of those three beat Sergio hands down.
Personally I had Murray winning by a point. I thought at best for Sergio it was a draw. Hella credit to Murray, but dude, Sergio looked pretty awful.
Can we just chalk it up as an off night for him? Doubt it. Dude was fighting in front of his home country. IDK, his curtains may be closing on him. He is nearly 40 after all.
Early on there was a body shot that landed on Sergio and he clinched in pain and acted like it was a low blow, the ref fell for it and gave him time to recover.
When they showed the replay, the HBO cameras went blue and you couldn't see it land. At first it looked like a clear body shot to me though.

Name dropping Pirog invalidates your argument
Lol Pirog....
sorry but no LOL.
Murray had a great chance after round 10. But he clearly got dominated in rounds 11 and 12 and lost the fight. He wins those last two rounds, and he wins. Simple as that.
Macklin didn't beat Sturm. It was very close, Sturm came strong the championship rounds. I had it a draw, while giving the close rounds to Macklin.
Macklin didn't have the WBA title, but Pirog did have the WBO title when he called out Sergio.
Nonetheless, Dibella will make excuse after excuse in avoiding the top MW's.
You're right, Sturm was WBA Super champion, that's my mistake. On the scoring however, we have a difference of opinion. I thought Macklin clearly beat Sturm, more so than Geale did in their unification match. Pirog did have the WBO title, but to date his best wins are over Jacobs and Ishida. Not only that, but he seems like he is constantly having his return date pushed back with his back injury, not to mention having to drop out of HBO date with GGG last year, which would have been a big stage for him.

Nah man, Macklin clearly beat Sturm.
Macklin got ROBBED against Felix Strum before he fought Martinez, he should've been WBO middleweight champ going in to that fight. Murray had fought Sturm to draw before the fight too.
Barker has not fought anybody of note, Pirog's win over Jacobs is better than anything he's done.

Also for those who say it was a punch on the back of the head. The punch clearly hit SM's ear which controls balance and equilibrium. SM was already buzzed and EVEN IF HE STEPS on his foot the determination must be made if the KD was a result of a punch or a slip, and it clearly was the punch that caused the KD.
It actually grazed the back of his head (illegal punch), but you're too high on that hatorade to see it...
Your avatar and signature clearly show you are not an impartial observer. BTW, i don't take control substances. But you seem a bit preoccupied with your right hand thinking about SM.

You still didn't answer his post. If Pirog made his living off of Danny Jacobs and wasn't worthy to fight Martinez. Then who has Barker, Murray and Macklin fought and why were they worthy opponents?
Oh right, because they were never supposed to have a chance. And all 3 fights were supposed to be easy work for Martinez.

No...Quillin holds the WBO title. Pirog was stripped long ago Of course, he (Kid Chocolate) fought today. Pirog hasn't fought in over a year. He hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning since Jacobs. He's a some dude who is living off the name of a prospect. Nobody takes him serious. He got close to 15 minutes of fame, then ran off to Russia, speaking of Martinez name.
Martinez had plenty of mouth watering matchup, why waste time with nobody. Ggg and Kid Chocolate deserve time with Sergio

The punch grazing punch hit him in his ear which controls equilibrium, and that was after a few other punches that had him buzzed.
If that is not a KD than what does that make the Hagler-Roldan KD? The only time Hagler was ever down was when he slipped, but he was hit by a grazing punch on the top of the head and yet it was still counted as a knockdown.
Standing his on his foot didn't help his equilibrium either, Murray did land a couple of grazing shots, but Sergio made him hit air on most of that sequence too.
Roldan wasn't standing on Hagler's foot, unless I'm missing it.
Murray is standing on Martinez' foot and the punch that put him down was to the back of the head. That's not a KD.

What i meant was that Pirog held the WBO title when he called out Sergio. Instead you and dibella thought Barker and Macklin were more worthy.
Do you really think Dibella will put Sergio in the ring with GGG or KC?:rofl::rofl:
I don't remember the circumstances behind the barker fight. Seemed like a tune up. I didn't have a problem with the Macklin fight, he was coming off a fight with Sturm, in which he was robbed. Macklin is a good fighter.

Well when you have a referee missing a KD, and than EVEN with instant replay they fail to get it right it does add to the drama that the decks were stacked against Murray.
I find this funny because hbo didnt have an angle that showed the feet so how do you know if it was the wrong call.
Fwiw it would have been a draw with the knock down called.
