Football violence has been back in the UK press in the last couple of weeks for mindless thugs fighting at and outside matches (an idiot, welfare scrounging Newcastle fan punched a police horse ffs) and when walking around my town about a month ago I saw a gang of morons get arrested just as they were about to smash up a pub.
Now, what about boxing? Every time I watch a fight on TV I seem to see people at ringside turning around to look at trouble in the crowd and a lot of posts I read on here say that fighting in the crowds is expected at an event.
Is boxing worse than football? What about other sports?
Rather weirdly the only big ruck I got close to was at the horse racing!
We were in a massive 'Big Top' beer tent at the Cheltenham Gold Cup and with a good 300-400 people inside the place; very much doing the racing on the cheap but enjoying a pint and a few bets.
One of our group said he was going for a pee and headed off across the tent only to come back 30 seconds later saying things were getting 'heavy' by the bar and that he was going to hold on.
We were just starting to take the piss out of him when the other side of the tent went ballistic; beer, tables, fists and chairs going all over the place and entire groups of guys thumping the hell out of each other.
These guys were not mucking about and when bits of furniture started coming our way; it was time to find an alternative watering hole.
When the police came past us they were not frigging about either, they'd got their batons out and had their dogs as well.
Lesson learned from this: Never let gypo's into a horse racing event!
MMA has to be much worse, but the more important question is, what the hell are you guys doing watching the crowd? I've never understood that. I regularly see YouTube comments about people in the crowd but if two guys are boxing, the last thing I'm interested in doing is watching people sitting.

I'm nearly 30, have been to quite a bit of football (I'd guess probably 150 matches) and the idiots trying to smash up the pub was the first I've ever personally witnessed. There's lots of shouting and bad language at football but in my experience a punch is rarely thrown.
You've clearly never seen a Millwall game! No but football is still the worst, England has cleaned up much of its act but have you ever watched Eastern European, North African or South American games... Absolutely brutal.
All the testosterone flying can cause a punch up here and there in a boxing crowd, but very rarely do you see riots breaking out, and I can't recall hearing about any breaking out before or after the fight outside the arena!
Just out of curiosity what did the guy punching the horse get charged with. In the US he would probably be charged with animal abuse and assault on an officer and get 10 years. How drunk do you have to be to punch a horse?
I've been to decent amount of boxing events and hardly ever seen fights in the crowds except at a Judah-Cotto event, lol. But what the hell you expect if it does happen? You got a bunch of testosterone fueled dudes in 1 room loaded on alcohol cheering their respective countries generally. Lol, it's a bomb waiting to go off.

Lol wow he punched a police horse???? I've been to plenty of boxing events and there's always at least 1 fight. I heard NFL events are crazy though.
Football is the worst , in Egypt we had 74 of Ultras Ahly killed in a football post-match riot . it was a massacre , one of the most tragic ever .
Check what happens between Lazio & Roma fans in Italy before and after EVERY SINGLE match between them .
it is impossible to happen in a boxing match , the worst won't be more than Bowe-Golota riot .

Not really. The only "riot" we had in a while was the one in Argentina a while ago. There seems to be football riots every week in the UK and we haven't had anything close that hockey riot in Canada a while ago

Dont forget that football isnt just in UK
But even if it was its still bad in places:
Maybe its just you hear more about football violence than others but to me it seems football fans are the biggest cunts around
Yeah it's got better over the years but it depends on which team you support. There is too much security surrounding the matches these days for much violence as the violence is usually between opposing fans. Football is still terrible compared to other sports across the world though and I can't for the life of me think why.

I dont think boxing crowds are so bad, you get a few scraps between individuals but generally you dont get the full scale riots you can get outside (and occasionally inside) football games.
Having said that though Martin Murray should probably chill out with the 'Argie' talk...

If he somehow did pull off an upset it could get very sketchy for him, especially with the recent Falklands stuff getting in the news again!
