Everybody all hyped up that canelo has as much drawing power as Floyd....y'all do realize that only reason he sold that many tickets is cuz tickets were 13 dam dollars??????? He'll that's only reason I went lol. I bet he can't do near that as much in Vegas or somewhere else were they weren't giving away tickets all over the state like they were free food stamps for the needy......regardless what y'all wana think Floyd still holds the ppv drawing power so canelo need to slow his role and not demand ****. Y'all act like he sold out cowboys stadium at normal ppv ticket prices.
you flomos are pathetic you do realize you guys are the only group of boxing fans that stoop to such sad levels right? not even the pactard nation stoop so low.
You should appreciate boxing little mac, I mean you do have rigondeaux in your avatar. A great technician who is known for playing it safe and calm.
I like both though, I won't bash either one.
I also like trout, this fight was bitter sweet for me. I didn't want to see either one lose. Trout is so likable and helps his community and the kids which is amazing in my eyes.
I hope trout becomes champion again very soon, we need more champions like him.
People love Canelo because he has charisma and has lots of balls. He always talks firm and even if he doesn't mean it we like the fact he fights for the fans. He said it in the post fight interview "I am very thankful to all the fans and I feel like I have a responsibility to give it my all for you guys"
I like both Canelo and JC jr but Jr, isn't a disciplined fighter.
He is 22 and won his hardest fight against a guy I thought he would lose too. He fought in a way I didn't think he could in front of 40,000 people, in the US. Canelo has the look, is working on his English and will only get better as a fighter. He will be huge international star and soon. He won me over.
he only got fans because he's mexican and has red hair. he's like the great hope of today in mexican boxing, so of course they're all on the canelo bandwagon..
The only reason why he sold 40.000 is being Mexican , young and very white with red hair ( for girls ) , it is not related to his boxing skills or his fake record .
and they are all factors not related to boxing . Alvarez didn't do anything about this .
the state of Mexican boxing today is pathetic , their champions and PPV draws are the likes of Chavez Jr and Alvarez .
those types of paper champions are bad for boxing , and if it is what gets new fans , most of them will be girls and kids , I am sure they are going to be **** fans and disgrace to the sport .
Mexican americans need to support real champions and real boxers , No wonder with all these thousands of mexican boxers throughout history , only handful mexican boxers are regarded ATG .
I am not anti-mexico , I like the country , and I am huge fan of real boxers like Chavez Sr. , Morales and Barrera .
and I think Alvarez has a promising history , but calm down , he still has a long way to go to become a real champion , I thought he was good enough to be a threat to A level boxers , but after Trout fight , I think he is still very immature , and if he has big fights soon , it will be the end of his career , and he may retire before 30s .
Don't treat the young man like he is another Tyson , he didn't show anything impressive yet .
Canelo fought that way cause he was gassed and a head on the cards. Rigo was a head yet almost looked like he was going for the KO against a much bigger threat. I didn't mean to sound like a dick. I looked over at some of your post and thought you were like elbosshogg. I was wrong and I appoligize for acussing you of being a nationalistic bigit. I respectfully not sold on Canelo yet, although I acknowlege his only 22 and has done great so far. I just wan't impressed with him, but thats more to do with the hype which in a sense is not fair on him to have to live up, but standards are standards and I don't think yet his there.
We can agree that he isn't elite yet, I get that. What I do disagree with is the notion that he did what he did because he was gassed or ahead on the cards. In the last round, you are right, the scoring system made him do that. In the 11th round though, he won that round clearly and had Trout hurt in that round.
He had to fight this type of fight because if he would have come forward and been to anxious, he could have easily lost. People may not like it, but Canelo has many different things he can do in the ring and there's no reason for him not to use all of them.
Every Mexican fighter doesn't have to be a face first warrior like Rios or Marg, there are the technicians as well like Finito Lopez and JMM.
Canelo showed he has another dimension to his game.
Im not Mexican and i totally agree with you. Littledick is just a little slow. hes alright though.
Thanks Pac-boy. You alright too. I just like to tease you thats all.:boxing:

I hadn't read this whole thread but them $13 tickets ended being sold for anywhere from $51-$78, and my tickets I bought for $153 were being sold for $250-$1050. Ticketmaster sold out within a couple days, within a couple minutes all ringside that cost $300 were sold out and being sold for $1400-$3800. So your statement talking about how cheap were the tickets doesn't really make sense to me because either way there was a lot of money being made in my City San Antonio!
Hold on a second, you're making two different arguments. I don't remember Oscar ever describing Canelo as a "Mexican blood and guts warrior". He has just said that Canelo is a great fighter and has what it takes to be the best in the game.
Funny you mentioned Rigo because you just contradicted yourself. If you thought what Rigo did was good (I did personally, he boxed beautifully) then you should have no problem with what Canelo did.
Canelo fought smart, didn't come face first and out boxed a very tough opponent. You should be excited about what Canelo did and how he showed a different skill set then what we are used to.

What was the debate? That the Mexican bada$$ that Oscar cons Mexican with that his a blood in guts warrior who plays it safe against a fighter that couldn't hurt him.
Funny this same people that call Rigo a coward and a runner stood his ground and pressed the action against a much bigger and most desasting puncher in the division while Canelo the warrior decides its play it safe against a guy he already dropped, out powered and a fighter that couldn't hurt him.

That's you're only response hu? Well thanks for playing and losing the debate, this one was simple.
I'm Mexican and could care less if Canelo is Mexican or not. I call them like I see them and he is the truth.

I get it you like Canelo cause his Mexican. Guess what am Mexican too, am just not blinded by my nationalism.

You ever been hit in the face with 8-10 oz gloves by a world champion boxer who weighs 154lbs?
Pillow puncher.....hahaha I love the way internet tough guys act as if getting punched in the mouth doesn't hurt or can knock you out. He may not be a big puncher but look at Cotto's face after the fight and tell me if he thought he punched like a pillow.

Kev people wanted to see him fight so much that they paid $10 for **** seats, and FULL price for parking or mass transit/cab ride to the arena, just to be in the building when they could have seen it for free at home.
I say that makes Canelo a huge ****ing star in the mexican community.
The real money is on PPV. If he fights Cotto, we'll see what he can do. I'm sure he'll do something around 400-600k. If the PPV surpasses 600k , that would show Canelo is the real deal in both terms of selling out arenas and selling PPV. But he needs Cotto to do this, he needs the Mexico vs PR rivalry and he needs some one who has already been watched by millions on PPV . If it's any one else like Lara, Angulo, Kirkland, Molina, the PPV #'s would be poor, something like 200-300k and that's being generous. It always takes two, and Canelo vs Cotto would be the perfect fight at this stage of their careers and it would sell like crazy.
Well no one believes that drawing 40-60k is having drawing power, especially the way tickets are priced for these supposed sell outs. The real drawing power is what a fighter does on PPV. However, it does show something when a fighter can draw big crowds like that, because not every fighter can do that. The next step for Canelo is what he can do on PPV.

Lowering your hands against a puncher > Lowering hands against a pillow puncher because your tired
Why did Canelo not press Trout in the championship rounds?
