to me he still shows no ability to adjust and his style is not entertaining to watch. The guy is completely intent on throwing 5 power punches a round, exploding and fighting in spots then just coving up. Even when he gets a guy hurt, Shane Mosley, Trout, he doesn't even follow up he just dances around the ring throwing 0 punches at all then takes it to the cards. He has no killer instinct.
The moment he faces a strong fighter who can take his punch he's getting stopped because his stamina obviously sucks and he cannot work for 3 minutes a round.
both fighters were unimpressive. I overated Trout and underated Canelo, but make no mistake Canelo was not impressive at all. THe guy gassed after 6 rounds and trout could not take advantage at all. Canelo will get smashed up very soon.
I agree man. Canelo could obviously hurt Trout but wouldn't follow up with nothing when he did, even when Trout was on queer street Canelo was fighting like it was a feel out round. I appreciate patience in fighters, but that was ridiculous.
Trout was sloppy and threw pitty patty arm punches with nothing on them. I couldn't tell if he was hitting Canelo or just tapping him. Even when it looked like Canelo was dead tired, he'd only throw a few jabs and wouldn't sit down on his left.
Mexican fans have changed. They used to boo their own fighters for boxing instead of brawling but now that the two best mexican fighters are both conservative they are suddenly fans of the sweet science.
how is it boxing when he's clearly not throwing any punches, getting outworked, and not throwing any counter punches back? Just because you're taking the punches doesn't mean you are winning the round. Canelo style is pathetic and will be exposed very soon.
Rigondeaux 129/396 33% PP: 73/176 41%
Canelo 124/431 29% PP: 96/224 43%

I was watching Trout miss and do the salsa.
If merely pressure is suppose to win fights then why call it boxing?

Nah, he didn't look gassed (That one was drilled into your thought process by the fact that Trout's trainer said it in the corner). It seemed like he was conservative by choice. He toyed with Trout occasionally with that defense, and was just generally more focused on the defensive side of things than going for broke against a slick fighter.
no he was clearly gassed, evident by him throwing ZERO PUNCHES, covering up, and going to the ropes.
Then we see this clown hurt Trout and knock him down, then not go for the kill but then lose the remainder of the round. Get his dick out of your mouth, he's not impressive and will get knocked out very soon. Scratch that, if Canelo is getting outboxed and down on the cards 5-0, 6-1, CAnela clearly has the mentality to not adjust and be aggresive, he wants to take it to the cards.
Good luck in the future trying to make 154lb in the future Canela, you will need it.
Trout didn't look amazing, but Canelo looked worse most of the time. Seriously.
Canelo would land 2-3 real significant punches a round, not punch for half the round, and tried to showboat and make Trout miss, while Trout kept his activity up.
To take off the round like Canelo did in every round, because his stamina is s**t, you need to land a major major game changer to win the round, what he did in the 7th round early on.
Canelo controlled none of the rounds, didn't even throw 40 punches a round, was out landed and than out throws by over 300 punches. Seriously, what the f**k were people watching???

I don't think he's boring, but I wasn't impressed with his conditioning or ring generalship (or lack there of). Trout looked even worse, throwing pitty patty arm punches. I had a very negative experience viewing this fight, I don't know, perhaps I was expecting too much. I'll just attribute it to a bad clash of styles.

I completely disagree with every you point you made and reject it all.
It's actually the opposite. He was very impressive tonight and unlike "Rigo" for example, was very aesthetically pleasing to watch. Either way, you can't qualify your points about someone being boring when you got the Cuban on your avatar.
sorry, Rigo footwork and counter shots MAKE the other opponet stop throwing, Canelo doesn't make his opponent stop throwing with skills, only power and his stamina sucks. I will love the day this guy gets exposed, because when he does he's going to get knocked out and stopped.
Needs better conditioning, looked tired from 6th on. Defense/movement was way better than I thought it could be. He just beat his best opponent in what I thought was a fairly close, good fight. He is only going to get better and be a bigger attraction. I like him.
For a guy who gets labeled as having no head movement at all, his head movement wasn't impressive at all to you? Really?...
ok i apologize, upperbody movement sure, that was nice. But besides that he didnt show much that would have you think hes the best thing since sliced bread. I understand he young doe but op is atleast part right. And i can get someone saying rigo was boring, but he was far from unimpressive
to be fair, canelos stock really didnt rise from this win. He didnt do anything that was very impressive. Compared to rigo who destroyed a top 5 p4p easily. Not saying its boring though
don't worry, next ring magazine he will be #4 p4p or something along with broner and GGG
I've always thought his style to be a more calculated version of Matthew Hilton.Very heavy-handed and an explosive offense, but a questionable level of conditioning.
His combinations have looked really neat and compact in the past against stationary targets, but he looked really desperate with the single right hands he was throwing and was telegraphing the sh^t out of them at times.
Still a very raw, limited talent.
he's gettign knocked out or stopped the moment he faces a guy who takes his punch and will outwork him.
