Id say it was 50-50 i was thoroughly entertained by the boxing lesson, specially the first few rounds when Nonito seemed stomped by Rigo being able to mute hes Dominating offense and land some hard shots so Donaire stopped pressing the action until desperation mode set in the last 3 rounds, now Rigondeaux's part on this is hes amateurish mode kicked in again when he felt he had the fight in the bag he settled for pop shoting and out-pointing Donaire. I was surprised Donaire was supposed to be the all mighty k.o king and he completely got stomped.
Man, that's bull****. I can certainly understand someone finding it boring. People like different styles. Some can enjoy this, while a lot more prefer two guys to beat the **** out of each other. It is more exciting when its a back and forth war. This was a good fight though. Very intense. Just a different type. If you felt like a smash and bang type fight, obviously this wasn't it, but for those guys going further than just saying 'I didn't like it that much. Not enough action, I prefer wars' and actually *****ing about Rigo like he's some kind of *****, running joke....well, that ***** running joke beat the **** out of the other counter puncher.
What pisses me off though is the cunts calling Rigo a runner, a ***** etc etc. all the usual crap for not exchanging and not trying to please the fans by deliberately taking the risk of getting KTFO for their pleasure and probably losing any future big pay days down the road to send money to his kids and **** back in Cuba. It's his life and business after all. Won't last long.
Guys *****ing about him playing it safe in this, his first big fight, are ****ing ludicrous. Donaire hasn't exactly been a war machine, and he certainly wasn't in this fight.
People are genuinely wanting the guy to have stood in front of Donaire and just swung it out with him. Instead he throws more shots, he lands more shots, he lands more in each round and at a higher percentage, but he does it while moving back, slipping, ducking and countering a guy who could knock him out with one shot.
The funniest thing is that when they did exchange, it was nearly always Rigo landing the last shot, or when he did get hit always coming back with a shot and it was nearly always the bigger, harder shot too.
Who was the guy who got most hurt? Who looked badly busted up? Who nearly got stopped at the end?
Man, those guys are cunts. Don't ****ing watch two counter punchers if you don't like it. The UFC was on, **** off to that instead. Did you morons actually expect Rios/Alvarado 3?
No, you expected Donaire to knock him out in spectacular fashion and when he got his ass beat, you could only resort to crying about it because it didn't turn like you had hoped. ****ing girls.
:notworthy green k!!!

I feel like people are over excited about Rigo in this fight. If you didn't see Nito win any exchanges before the knockdown you were listening to the crowd instead of watching the fight.
donaire has got to be able to cut off the ring.
also, for a f#cking 122 lber, he needs to throw more punches. is it a sin for the guy to jab?
he's always fought this way, though, when you think of it. he just fought guys that weren't good enough to stay away from his bombs for 12 rounds. rigo caught one big one, and he got right back up and wanted to fight immediately.
he didnt even wait for esteves to finish counting
That was some Gamboa type sh1t. Never expected it from Rigo... I had to bust out laughing when he did that.
Last night was f*cking awesome. The fight was epic. I'm not known for rewatching fights but I will be rewatching this one. Rigo did so many things in there that one can learn from. That sh1t was like an instructional video.

Too much truth in this post and the last part was 100% accurate.
I wouldn't say that. But what I will say is that if you find the art of hitting and not getting hit boring, you aren't a fan of boxing your a fan of a style. Which is OK. I don't expect a fan of hard rock music to be a fan of classical music. The problem comes when people insult these fighters just because they don't understand what they are watching in the ring.
The sport of boxing involves numerous styles and a true fan appreciates them all.
Exactly.
This fight was FAR from boring.
Look, you fail to understand my point which you are clearly making for me. It is the upity notion that people like you make and that is, if anyone finds this fight boring they simply don't know what they are watching, don't know **** about boxing or aren't real fans which is laughable at best.
It is funny to see the so called "boxing purists"peeleft: act as if they are some kind of highly evolved boxing who rule over the lowly so called "casual fan".

I think any 'fan' who found that boring only has themselves to blame.
Excellent way to put it! You want brawling and KOs, go watch UFC! If you want to learn something and enjoy a beautiful display of boxing skills, you watch this fight a few more times!
For me this fight wasn't boring at all. Rigo gave a masterful performance, a great display of skills and concentration. He made Nonito look like an amateur.
At the end of the fight Nonito threw only 20-30 punches more than Rigondeaux, but Rigo was way more effective.
Nonito was the one losing the fight, he's the one who should've done something more in the final rounds.
Actually, Rigo threw more punches than Donaire in the fight. Threw more, landed more, and landed more in each of the twelve rounds apart from the 10th I think. He landed more in each round, except that one I believe. To be honest through, I wouldn't be surprised if he landed more in that round too. He won the rest of the round pretty clearly after the knockdown.
Say what you want about his movement, he was still the one throwing and landing more punches. He just didn't get hit much, which I guess is what some people don't like.
I found it quite a good fight so.....
Exactly this is why Boxing is suffering IMO because the average person don't know crap about boxing. It's easy to figure out MMA go in there tackle a guy and pound on his face. Not so easy to master boxing.
When I read some posts about this fight I was literally cringing. What rigo did last night should be celebrated. When was the last time we got to see pure boxing like that? Nonito was a top 5 p4p guy by almost everyone and he had no idea what to do last night.

I'm doing it. i'm just trying to remember when I've seen a top pfp fighter get dominated like that. But forget the edit and stay on topic for sure!!
Corrales and Floyd, Floyd and JMM, Floyd and SSM, Floyd and Hatton???? See the common denominator? :D
Good post. Hbo has also contributed to by selling kos over skills. This way as long as the fighter they promote is getting kos no matter how poor the comp is well everything is ok. If a guy is wiNning and doesn't try to ko his oipponent then they criticize him. A fighters job is to win not make hbo happy.
They've made it such that so many new and younger fans value power over skill. So when rigo does what he did last night they don't appreciate it. Well I loved what rigo did.
Devastating and explosive KO's are great. They are the epitome of boxing viewing, but they generally happen when a powerful guy has skills, ala Tyson. What grates me is that the commentators and boxing media just criticise criticise criticise fighters or perfomances like what Rigo just put up, then whine and complain about the "state of the sport." They should have been calling this performance what it was (masterful) and trying to educate the casual viewer behind the screen as to how excellent Rigo actually is. Too negative.
I can guarantee you there were pro boxers like Martinez, Hopkins, Mayweather, SSM, James Toney sitting in their lounge rooms watching Rigo perform and thinking damn this guy can box!!!!!
Cmon bush let's just stick to rigo nonito today.

I was anxiously awaiting the conclusion of the fight. It had me on my toes, It was dramatic to me. I was thrilled. I don't remember seeing such a highly decorated fighter being so thoroughly outclassed in recent years.
Edit. Floyd did dominate Marquez. However it was infinitely clear why.

Want to know who made it boring??? The boxing media.....read the articles on yahoo and espn. Instead of bigging up Rigo as being a masterful wizard they are writing junk!!!! Why?? Because he beat the exciting fighter. Utterly classless on the their part.
From yahoo:
""I'm a Hall of Famer at 12-0," Rigondeaux exclaimed."
Few agreed with him. The sellout crowd of 6,145 at Radio City Music Hall booed lustily throughout, unhappy with Rigondeaux's defensive wizardry. Rigondeaux spun, ducked, danced and made Donaire look bad repeatedly in winning a unanimous decision.
Asked why the crowd booed, Rigondeaux beamed.
"I was the matador and he was the bull," Rigondeaux said. "They don't like seeing the matador."
Classy reply from Rigo.

Because he was better? In a battle of technical counter punchers, the faster counter puncher wins. That's why Floyd caned him, not the size difference. Floyd walks around at 155 and under.
