Just picked this up from BBC news... anyone know what the story is here? It doesnt say very much in the story, just that its for tax reasons. I'm wondering if thats why promoters are looking at doing shows in tax havens..

*note - I know i expect the usual flojob retards to use this as an opportunity to claim that multi millionaire Pacquiao is somehow on the bones of his arse, but please save yourself the bother because that isnt the purpose of this thread and you will only end up making yourselves look like pricks. Thanks.
I'm not a flojob or whatever it is you Kool kids call each other now a days and I think your a Floyd hater. . . . its not hard to hate that douche but you obviously are hating for the wrong reasons. . . Anywho the faster this two vaginas retire the better for boxing, the fighters that want to fight well fight and won't have any reasons to hold out for that lottery ticket.
Not at all, I just think his fans are cunts...well, 98% of them, and this thread isnt about Floyd, that guy wont even fight outside of Vegas and on the money he can earn there, you cant blame him...cant see him becoming a tax exile any time soon.
I agree with the last sentence though. I will be Glad when they both retire, for different reasons, but i'll be happy all the same.
Most flojob bumsniffs think that, its a defense mechanism and thats why you silly bastards make me laugh...I dont hold it against you.:fing02:

Some of this seems to be posturing. We will see if they actually do it. Why wait all of a sudden until the tail end of his career to do this, hes been on PPV now for what 6-7 years.
Yeah the tax rate changed a few percent but that is not enough to move it to another country where the gates and everything else will change by more than a few percent.
Why not have had JMM-Pac 1-4, Morales 1-3, Barerra 1-2 all in mexico the entire time? see what I mean
You handled it beautifully. The "disinterested" facade fell off pretty quickly when you answered the first mealy-mouthed attack, disguised as general information. He's not so subtle when it's gone into properly.
The result of the switch to overseas seems to be that it's good for Pacquiao, (never mind the "dumb" comment that Pacquiao will lose by it-he's just trying to show he's "concerned" about MannyP's welfare) and perhaps not so good for the promoter. But, where top fighters are concerned, who have already made their reputations, and are money draws, the boxer dictates whom he'll fight and where. The promoter presents the most likely top money earning fights and arenas, but the boxers along with their advisers, make the final decisions.
Of course this doesn't go well with the crazies who frantically shriek that Pacquiao is a slave and Arum is a slavedriver...... So they ignore the facts.
Absolutely bang on post.
if you PM me I'll be glad to answer. while I think junior gong is generally a POS floyd hater, its his thread and I'm not going to fvck it up.

this isnt the topic of the thread. Floyd isnt my idol, magic johnson is. I dont know how much floyd spent to prove manny was on PED's. I don't know why the case was settled. I haven't thought about why the case was settled.
The topic is manny fighting outside the US to avoid taxes. I answered that it was a possibility that is why he will fight outside the US. the other reason could be the more stringent testing in Vegas.
So it's YOU who is trying to start another RUMOUR...... you can't eat your cake and still have it. Of course, the way you twist things around perhaps YOU can.
And Pacquiao is trying to avoid just US taxes. He will still pay his full tax owed, in the Philippines. Be more precise and quit your insinuations. You must spend your whole day searching for anti-MannyP and ant-Arum crap.
I won't even pretend to know the tax codes for anywhere in the world. But I believe that if Manny (or anyone else who gets punched in the face for a living) can put more money in his pocket fighting anywhere else, they should do it. Most fighters are past prime earning years by their mid 30's (BHop is the exception, not the rule), so they need to put as much coin in their pocket and should never be ashamed of that no matter what the circumstances
Its also not true as he has been tested for every fight(no testing at all...my god you're reaching, lol). If he was leaving the states because of more stringent testing then that looks bad, but I just think thats a wild ass guess that floms have already stupidly(and all too predictably) appropriated as fact, sad gimps that they/you are.....
....however, As I'd stated earlier in the thread, the bit you didnt read or pick the bones out of(you just saw Manny leaving for tax reasons, felt the pre cum bubbling and charged in like an flojob oaf), I'm not particularly interested who it is. Manny was just the example and I wanted a heads up on how the US tax sytem worked for high earning sportsmen, particularly boxers as thats the sport i'm most interested in, and what future implications it could have on the sport in regard to marquee events being held elsewhere in order to increase revenue.....
But thanks for running in here in your floyd cape, bearing your arse and looking like a nob. Its not what was asked for, but I consider the giggle it gave me a bonus!:fing02:

I just wasnt sure what the deal was with tax in the U.S. I know that its very high here, but always thought it was a lot lower stateside, also I didnt know whether foreigners had to pay more, less or the same.
Obama's new tax rate is 39.6% (I read that with other taxes inclusive it amounts to just under 42%). i recall some years ago that there was a huge outcry from all professional sports figures, managers, advisors etc. Their reasoning-which was an excellent one- was that since professional athletes (I thik they were centring on boxing) had a very short earning life, that their taxes should be reduced to normal levels, and stretched out over a normal working lifetime. I thought that the various countries had done something on that line.
This was brought about because there was a festering sore amongst boxers, over the Joe Louis scandal, where he boxed for the various War Effort fund drives, for free, but was stioll taxed as if he had kept the money. The result was that he had to make a comeback, and all his earnings were garnished by the IRS. He may have died still up to his neck in debt to them, but I seem to recall that at the end, his debt may have been cancelled.
It was an outrage and went on for many years. I thought it had been replaced with a more lenient system for athletes.
a similar article is on yahoo. it says that Nevada is changing its tax rate to about 39.6%. SO manny would make less per fight in china but keep more of it. SO instead of $25 mil in vegas and getting $15 mil, manny will get $20 mil in china and keep almost all of it. Reasonable and a smart business move.
I will assume Manny and his team are being genuine about the money (which many of his fans swore he didn't fight for). There is also something else going on in Nevada.
The Nevada comission is looking into making their drug testing more stringent. Instead of allowing a 6:1 testosterone ratio (I believe) they are changing it to 4:1. It may just be accidental timing but it bears noting that manny and his team are discussing moving completely to Asia at a time when the Vegas and the US is making testing more stringent.
Why the TS wants to avoid discussing it, the yahoo article discusse how this gives manny the opportunity to fight lower profile fighters for easy money.
You have to get your little 'stab" in, don't you. Weell..I believe that Arum announced that he was considering venues abroad as soon as the new tax rate was announced. Or even before. It's no secret that many high income earners have been moving abroad for some years now, including relinquishing their U.S. citizenships.
It benefits the fighter and is detrimental to the promoter.
Yea because I know Manny still has to pay up to the Philippines as well.... at least that's what I read somewhere
You guys have it all wrong-or at least not quite right. Either all, or a specific percentage of the tax that Pacquiao pays in America is rebated from his Philippines tax due. This is the same for many 1st world countries. They stopped demanding double taxation years ago.
What made you think it's about stringent testing when Marquez or any opponent of the Pacman don't give a fvck about testing? They're warriors. Your idol is a sissy. In any event, why do care so much when your idol gets away with positive test results? I don't get it. Especially when coming from a Floyd stan. Educate me.

The topic is about taxes. You diverted it to another.
Didn't your idol spend millions of dollars trying to prove Pacman was on peds? Wasn't he forced to settle the case when your idol can't provide the ped results of his last three fights requested by his rival's attorneys? Why do you think he settled?

I thought those positives were a rumor. AT least thats the word both authors of the articles referencing the positives used. RUMORS.
Why did you parse only that piece of my post? Taken by itself, you are trying to imply that was the focus of the post when in fact it was only one point. Try reading either article.
Lets try and stick close to the thread topic.

dubai would be epic, they do everything better than the rest, their football and cricket stadiums are best in the world. I can only imagine what stops they would pull out to get a big fight
arab money!!
Incredible. Can't believe these Floyd apologists still have the nerve to talk about testing when their hero tested positive three times. First of all explain to me why testing is important when your hero gets away with positive test results. I would stay away from this subject if I were a Floyd stan. Your hero is a ped user.

My apologies then. I'm not too fussed on what it means for Manny as he isnt going to be fighting for much longer anyway I think. We had the Golovkin card in Monte Carlo(although they need some serious tweaking to the way they present boxing) and now it looks like a lot more is going to be happening in Asia and particularly Macau, so I was curious as to where this might be going and what it might mean to the sport.
no need to apologize pare, it's your thread
was just throwing that 2 cents in
Pac's simply on borrowed time from here on out
whatever he does, he's taking a chance, regardless of money/location
