I never understood this, is this what they call pea****ing? I don't remember boxers of old doing this, its like the fighters are trying to intimidate their opponent at weigh in or are just big fans of Mr Olympia?
Why don't they just stick to the traditional double bicep flex?

Fighters do this to assert themselves and exude confidence. I think of it in terms of someone going into battle, after all, these men are putting their lives on the line even though it may not be apparent given the level of static surrounding each fight. Their physique shows dedication and desire to win, just plain old pure posturing and bravado......
Im posting your sig quote that is deep son!

lol that one is funny like he doesn't care. He hasn't got any muscles over his fat so there's no need for him to flex
LOL at Brandon Rios doing a most musculature, you need muscle man not a soft body like this.

TS, WTF is your problem with that??! its better than talking trash and nonsense. It creates hype. It is a showcase of their weaponry and how ready they are for war. They've been working like hell for 8 weeks for that physique. Boxing Fans love seeing their man ripped and ready during weigh ins. we watch 24/7's and road to blah blahs to see how are man doing during trainings, now we get to see how ready they are physically during weigh in's and you're complaining about it?? if you are in their place you would do the same thing and showcase what you worked hard for.

A fit person did not start this thread...
There's certain guys here that have this thread posting fever and when they run out of ideas, you get garbage like this.

I think it pretty much is this. Posturing in an attempt to gain a mental edge.
I think it has an effect in some cases, Nigel Benn said he used to look at the size of his opponents and think wtf, he's huge compared to me, but then it would motivate him more as the underdog.
Chris Eubank actually used to do his poses in the middle of the fight.
Because since the huge influx of casual very young fans, their constant "ooh-hing and aah-ing at what they call "6 packs" causes the boxers to "show off".
Appearance is a big part of what they have to sell.
