Mike Alvarado could not do it.
Neither could Urbano Antillon.
It looked like Miguel Acosta was able to do it, but even he failed to do it.
What do all three men have in common? They shared the ring with unbeaten Brandon Rios in memorable fights that featured some tremendous ebb and flow action.
Okay, that is easy to point out for diehard boxing fans. How about all three boxers failed to knock Rios down to the canvas.
That honor goes to Joel Ortega.
Who? What? Someone knocked down Rios and it was not those three hard-hitting men.
Yup. Joel Ortega. Not only did Ortega knock Rios down once, but he did it twice. While Ortega was a second or two from beating Rios, who was then an 8-0 fighter, it has been the closest anyone has come closest to beating Rios (with the exception of Manuel Perez, who has a draw against Rios).

Doesn't change the fact that on a level playing field Abril won the fight handily and got screwed
Exactly. Rios doesn't like to talk about the fight the same way Mayweather never likes to talk about his first fight with Jose Luis Castillo :lol1:
Why when I go to Rios boxrec I see the "W" next to his name for that fight.
amazing.
Is that how you feel about Bradley/Pacquiao? If so, props for being consistent.
Abril is garbage, he has all the ability in the world and fight's like a b!tch. Expect him to get robbed alot more if he keeps up with his holding routine.

"The judges said Rios beat Abril so that's final. Abril didn't look impressive and he missed a lot of punches, Rios won."
thats that Bob arum paid logic.. anyone that saw the Rios VS Abril fight and can count know that Rios didnt win a round in that fight.... no matter what $h!t anyone talks boxing is a get hit dont get hit sport and Abril skoooooled the crap out of Rios....
Rios is just more marketable because of the mexicans fans plain and simple
Using the same logic that flomos use to try and convince the public that Bradley beat Pac, some could easily say this:
"The judges said Rios beat Abril so that's final. Abril didn't look impressive and he missed a lot of punches, Rios won."

As long as you know that was a robbery:fing02:
But its okay for Molina to fight that way. Rios won't be fighting any boxers anytime soon. He got schooled and sonned in that fight after all that tough guy fanfare. His face spelled being lost and defeat in that fight
Im not a fan of their styles, but Molina lets his hands go and works, i suggest you watch Molina vs Kirkland, no power and he still lit him up. Abril holds and is passive, in his last fight in the only reason he won was because the ref was about to take points away for his holding, he started to counter pretty good the last 3 rounds if i remember correctly. But had he kept holding those last 3, he would've lost and i wouldn't have been complaining.
Nothing Rios really thinks he won that fight.
Acosta and Ortega both hurt Rios with body shots. Alvarado would be wise to go to the body early in the fight.
i don't think he does i never heard bam bam say he beat up abril all i ever heard him say was all he was doing was grabbing but i don't i ever remember heariing i beat the **** out of him

If Abril is garbage wtf does that make Rios considering Abril schooled him for 12 rounds.

What did the Abril fight do for him?
