I agree with some of the fighters on there. But it's ASTONISHING how you could have the likes of Alvarez and Broner on there and not Ward. Sure, Ward didn't fight twice in 2012, but given who he faced and how he won, as well as the dominant stretch of wins from November 2009-December 2011. It's just crazy to me. I like Broner, but No. 4?! Yet someone like Ward isn't even in your top 10? Ludicrous.
american... like pacquiao, perhaps?
look, earl, you're probably trolling, but i'll son you anyway. the best fighters aspire to fight here. other than CW and HW, and the tiny men's divisions in mexico and asia, the best money is here. you fight your way out of the british domestic scene. you don't fight your way out of america.
we have the best trainers, the highest purses, the best sparring, and the deepest talent pool in virutally every division.
tony thompson hit price so hard he was rolling around on the ground like a baby.
Don't forget the highest taxes...
Showing 6 hours of boxing in a month is not dedication, what they are dedicated to, is bringing the biggest names in boxing.
According to Hunter, Ward has never been defeated, ever. Do you think Ward born a great boxer? Hunter has molded him into the fighter he is.
Being with boxing for 30 years is dedication - HBO is the only channel that has stayed with boxing for such a long time, other than Sky sports (22 years).
I think it's since he was 12, his amateur record is 115-5. Listen, as I said, no doubt Virgil is a good trainer. But he needs to prove himself with other fighters. So let's see what he can do with Amir Khan, someone who has tremendous natural ability already. Nevertheless, just because America has a great trainer in Virgil Hunter, it doesn't back up the fact up that "America has the best trainers".
Did I say they were boxing channels? I said dedicated to boxing. BoxNation is far too new to compare to something like HBO or showtime. ESPN show boxing yes, but this was with regards to big purses.
So because Ward > Froch, Hunter is better than McCraken? Lol. That doesn't make any sense. I mean I think Virgil Hunter is an excellent trainer, and trainer of the year last year. McCracken was a trainer of the Olympic team that got so many medals. Outside of Virgil Hunter, there's not many good AMERICAN trainers left. Most are hispanic.
A good trainer brings something out of a fighter. Like a Froch who is not the most naturally gifted guy in the world, but McCracken guided him to 3 world titles.

HBO and Showtime are not boxing channels, they are movie channels which show boxing. Boxnation is a channel dedicated to boxing, I don't know where you got your info from, but you might want trash your source, ESPN and the Spanish stations show more boxing than HBO and Showtime.
McCracken's fighter got schooled by Hunter's fighter, you figure that out.

HW, CW, SMW, MW, And everything below LW is better outside of America. To say you have better trainers is not accurate imo. Good British trainers like Robert McCracken just don't get the same recognition as someone like Freddie Roach, even though Freddie has never made a fighter. You have the highest purses because for some stupid reason, the (virtually) only two tv channels dedicated to boxing are in America.

Its not just Broner. They also have Guerrero as #10. IMO Froch or Mares deserve that spot over Guerrero. My guess is they put Guerrero up there to hype up the fight vs Mayweather, which is total bs.

Couple of things....
"A boxers conduct outside the ring" shouldn't be a stipulation for his P4P status inside the ring.
However, since in this case, it IS a stipulation, let's consider.....
"The Boxer's overall performance and sportsmanship in the ring, AS WELL AS HIS CONDUCT OUTSIDE THE RING, is taken into consideration."
#4: Adrien Broner
Amir's got a chin like McCall. He just slips. A lot.
oliver khan
i always thought that amir was killing himself to make weight. what he needs is a campaign at HW, to show off that beard of his.
Not having Andre Ward in your P4P list is stupid very stupid... but... Having Andre Ward rated as number 2 in your P4P list above the likes of ummm well I don't know??
Nonito Donaire, Wladimir Klitschko, Sergio Martinez and JMM
You're having a laugh if you think a guy who fought a super six tournament with absolutely no away fights in the whole entire tournament is worthy of such a privilege!
Roy Jones Jr claimed that P4P crown by moving up in weight and challenging the champion not calling out a smaller guy to move up weight for you or for a guy to come down weight and to fight you...
That isn't the act of a worthy #2 P4P fighter.
he used to mention salita's name constantly, when it wasn't appropriate. there would be a discussion of top fighters at 140, and seckbach would bring salita's name up :lol1:
the guy doesn't make much money from boxing, and he put himself up in a hotel and flew across the pond to see khan stop salita in one round. he was badly hurt with the first punch that landed.
That's... incredibly sad. But i'm still laughing my ass off. Stupid, predictable Elie.
That guy post on Boxingscene as GAR1680-Boxing

His criteria makes sense, but I would have Rios above Broner because he has a better resume.
The guy believes Deontay Wilder will bring the HW Crown back to America. :pat:
Well Tony Thompson is your highest ranked heavyweight and he beanpoled the guy i'd put at like 4-5 of our heavyweights. So I don't see your point.
As to our "domestic scene", watch a lot of that do you?
i generally catch the major cards, yes. i won't pretend to be the guy who can rattle off the limey top 10 in each division as if they matter.
No, don't disagree with Ward or JMM.
Broner is the problem as you say, also Floyd too high imo.
Broner is just in there because of his name imo. I mean really, that's it. Maybe in future he'll be there on merit but right now, I don't even know if he'stop 20 tbh.
TBH I am kind of surprised Danny Garcia isn't in there, he's the sort of guy The Ring loves.
You scared me there for a second.
In a sense I like P4P lists in that they truly expose those who do/ don't follow the sport in it's entirety. Broner, Canelo aren't in my top 10, nor are they close, and I've never cared to list my #11-15 or 20. Skill; versatility is a main criteria for me and while those two have it, they still have a lot of work to put in.Agreed. Canelo is just now finally facing a top 5 TRUE Jr. MW, and Ward has utterly destroyed the SMW division in it's entirety as well as steamrolled the LHW kingpin (Albeit in his weightclass) and yet you have Canelo on the list but not him? Regardless of whether Ward fought more then once last year or not, to me that's inexcusably incompetent.

P4P lists are a load of **** generally anyway.
The Ring Magazines one is garbage, the criteria is as follows
1. American?
2. Fights on HBO?
3. Is he any good?
In that orderI agree with your general point Early, but are you saying you disagree with Ward and JMM being in the top 3? Mayweather I could possibly understand given his activity over the past few years, but given the kind of level Ward and JMM have been operating at lately, it's really hard to debate. On the other hand, I agree with Ring's top 5, but the bottom 5? That's another story. I love Broner, and think he has tremendous prospects, but how can you have him, Pacquiao and Guerrero there but no Mares, Froch, Viloria ETC. It's ludicrous IMO. It's not that I disagree with them being on the list, but when they are on the list and other fighters who are just as if not more deserving of being there aren't, I have to raise my eyebrow just a tad.
