Whats the difference between Margarito and Berto?

I see a lot of folks talking about Tony the plaster cheat. Granted he got caught against Mosely, but let's not forget Berto also got CAUGHT CHEATING with PED's Who honestly believes Margarito wouldnt have snatched Bertos heart & soul? Even today out of the game and partially blind his chin would walk through Bertos flat footed flashy punches and beat the brakes off him in a corner. If Guerreros jab can stun and drop Berto, Tony lights him up

Margarito was a compelling fighter to watch despite or perhaps even because of his relative crudeness. He was exactly the type of guy you wanted to see boxers put in against so you could see what they were really made of. Berto on the other hand inspired nothing but indifference.

Cotto was the HBO hype job Margarito was bum who only notable win was a tainted one against the HBO hype Job

Both were HBO hype jobs. Both dont have a signature win of note. Both got dominated everytime they stepped up in opposition. Both were caught cheating. The only difference between the two is Berto has some boxing skill. Margarito is a complete bum in my opinion. Basically theyve had the same carreer. You could argue Berto was an underachiever. What are these skills you speak of? Berto is one of the most unskilled fighters to hold a world title.

IMO Margarito had a much better career than Berto. His biggest loses were to the best of the era (Cotto, PAC and Mosley). Margarito even bested Sergio Martinez early in his career. TBH, in regards to career, I look at Margarito a lot like Oscar (I believe Oscar was a much better fighter though). Took on all the greats and came up short. No shame in that. Berto on the other hand got beat down by tier 2 fighters. Berto doesn't even have a tier 1 fighter on his resume, win or lose.

Margarito had like an 8 year winning streak at welterweight and was the man at that weight class for about 4 or 5 years, he basically made Floyd retire for 2 years and everybody knows that Floyd was and still is scared ****less of Margo, the video don't lie, I found it funny how Floyd fans always discredit any fighter that has a chance if beating him by saying that he need to earn his shot but what about most of Floyd's last opponents, how did they earn their shot? On the other hand Berto is and will always be a hype Job just like Khan they might had been great amateur boxers but the pros is a lot different sport, Margo's will always be remembered for being a fearless warrior, too bad that PAC ****ed up his eye I still wanted to see him fight a few more times against the best 154 pounders.

Margarito was an overachiever. Berto is an underachiever. The biggest difference is margs will impose his will on his opponent. As a result, he beat a guy who maybe he shouldn't have beat in Cotto. With Berto, fighters impose their will on him. He was favored over Ortiz and Guerrero but didn't rise to the occasion. Both fighters are mediocre to me but one maximizes his talents and the other neglects them.

Margarito has fought 6 top 10 welter and went 3-3(prime clottey, prime cotto, Sergio Martinez and lost to Paul Williams, manny pacquaio and shane.) Yes he might have cheated against cotto , but clottey and Martinez might have been legit. Berto has never beaten a top ten welter in his career and was always a paper champ. He lost two cherry pick fight.

Margarito a network hype job? Cintron was a network hype job and margarito was the b-side, same thing would have happened with Berto, margs would have been the b-side and he would have crushed Berto.

One can say the same about Berto. Berto was always on PEDs and does not have a notable win EVER!!! At least Margarito won some big fights! lol! The one thing that makes me curious, is why would the athletic commission themselves rule later that the sample was contaminated and then reissue his license... Huh? If that is true, than there are no grounds to truely believe something the commission later dismissed as possibly a fraudulent case.

Berto has no boxing skills lol. He's all flash, makes no adjustments, always head hunts. Margarito was never hyped by hbo in fact alot of people had no idea of who the dude was beside Mexican fans. Berto was hyped to the max I can recall him saying hed like the winner of floyd vs mosley when he hadn't fought anyone. I would say a major difference between both would be margarito had to fight his way to recognition even though he cheated while berto had the luxury of being an al haymon fighter fighting on hbo.
