Rios vs. Alvarado I the 2012 fight of the year and the early 2013 candidate for fight of the year Bradley vs. Provodnikov. Which fight did you think was better? and if they were in the same year which one would you choose for fight of the year award?
Bradley and Prov were wielding hammers , Rios and Alvar where throwing pillows , I think the boxing and power shots of Bradleys fight were a class above the other fight , for me Bradleys was A grade and Rios B grade and that makes a lot of difference to me , heavy heavy shots were landed in just about every round in Bradleys fight .
Ruslan vs Bradley.
Rios vs Alvarado was a good solid fight but I thought it was a very sloppy/clunky one. When I want to introduce someone to boxing I show them fights like Bradley vs Ruslan, Salido vs Lopez, Khan vs Peterson.
Bradley/Provodnikov, simply because it exceeded my expectations. This was not a FOTY match-up, but it turned out to be one hell of a battle. We all knew Rios/Alvarado was gonna be a FOTY candidate before it even happened.
I'm happy that the ref didn't stop the fight.
when freddie roach calls a fight "one of the best i have ever seen" it has to be one of the best ones ever. I really like the respect Roach gave Bradley it was well deserved.
They were both great fights but I voted for the Bradley-Provodnikov fight because Bradley predicted he would dominate and KO the Russian and instead he almost got KOed himself.
I enjoy fights more when the fighters have contrasting styles. Rios vs Alvarado are pretty similar so it was a one note type of fight. A very good note, but it loses its luster when you see the same thing over and over again from both fighters. It's why I enjoyed Khan-Maidana, Cotto-Margarito, Martinez-Williams so much since their styles couldn't be any more different.
I love watching brawlers, but I prefer them being put it with someone who doesn't fight like them. It makes for more unique fights.
Only one style primarily in one fight; while another brought out the best of both in which got Bradley to Box but allow Ruslan to show relentless aggression.
Rios/Alvarado, while a really fun, tough fight, was also a bit monotonous. It was the same thing for 6 rounds before a very sudden, arguably early, stoppage. That same thing was a hell of a lot of fun though.
Bradley/Ruslan was much more up and down, back and forth. Bradley would look like he was going, then he'd come back and outbox Ruslan and look great for large stretches, before getting badly wobbled and hurt, then he'd come back and hurt Ruslan etc etc until the whole thing nearly ended culminating in the last round. Great stuff.
Unlike most people, I never thought Rios was in much trouble of getting stopped. He never even looked hurt at all to me. He was just getting hit clean, as was Alvarado with his silly attempt at the shoulder roll, but I never once thought he was in danger of getting stopped.
I thought Bradley was done numerous times, and I thought Ruslan might get stopped too by the corner or doctor.
people are over rating last night fight. Was a good fight with like 4 great ****ing rounds. Many of the middle rounds where boring. Rios alvarado had no off rounds
rios-alvarado is clearly more exciting with a more definitive outcome compared to bradley's fighting style which is bullshit
Sounds like you may have a little held in anger from a year ago...
I never felt Rios was on the verge of being knocked out, especially so early in the fight like Bradley nearly was.Rios-Alvarado was great for sustained action, but it doesn't compare to the level of drama that occured in the Bradley-Provodnikov fight.
And let's be honest, who expected this fight to turn out like it did? We all knew what to expect with Rios and Alvarado, but nobody expected the fireworks that Bradley and Provodnikov produced. This was supposed to be a routine workout for Bradley that nobody was excited about in the first place.
Rios-Alvarado, I thought Rios was getting KO'd early but he wore Alvarado down and pulled it through. Both were great fights and clearly fights for the fans.
