From the place that Hypes Floyd
Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Promotions CEO:
First of all, nobody is going to go back and forth about one's religious beliefs because there's only one that can judge us all. As far as Floyd not selling in Grand Rapids, let me set the record straight. After Floyd won the title from Genaro Hernandez 15 years ago, when he first went to Grand Rapids to defend the title against Carlos Rios, the fight was a complete sellout in 90 minutes with over 12,700 in attendance, and there were all kinds of fire marshal issues because there were so many people standing in the aisles. I know because I was there. And for the record, Floyd wasn't responsible for promoting or marketing any of his fights in those days. He was under someone else's banner. But one thing's for sure, once he gained control and became his own boss, the enourmous record-breaking pay-per-view and box office numbers speak for themselves, making him the highest paid athelete in sports today.
As far as Broner is concerned, it's simple: it's a big brother/little brother mutual admiration and nothing anybody says is going to interfere with that. I think Andre Ward is an excellent fighter and I wish him the best. He can root for Guerreo all he wants, but the outcome will be the same with Floyd whooping that ass and Floyd taking a Brinks truck home full of money that night. We won't be talking about this anymore because we gotta stay focused and take care of our business at hand, which is this huge pay-per-view event on May Day.
I notice Ellerbie decided to not talk sh1t about J Prince, probably a smart move because thats a war his gay a55 couldn't win and would probably end up face down in a river somewhere :lol1:
ellerbe knows better than to diss prince.
"Mayweather also found himself in some trouble when he was in a fierce contractual battle with former manager James Prince. Top Rank stepped in and advanced him $610,000 to settle with Prince, and also cut Prince a check for 20 percent of Mayweather's $3.05 million dollar purse for fighting Phillip Ndou.
The situation with Prince, a well known figure in the rap world, escalated to a dangerous level when several men showed up to the Top Rank Gym on September 11, 2003 and roughed up Leonard Ellerbe and former camp member Thomas Summers, sending both to the hospital.
Mayweather's camp has never confirmed the story, but both DuBoef and Arum claimed to have saved a "shaken" Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who told DuBoef 'These are bad guys, you have to help me save my family.'
"I said, 'Let me give James a letter of credit,' " Arum said. "And Floyd said -- I'll never forget it -- 'James don't take no letter of credit.' "
1) Broner isn't really that popular yet so he's not the best example, and Chavez Jr is the son of a boxing legend, Eubank Jr. will get a similar lift here.
2) I don't know why Canelo generates the interest he does. Maybe it's because he has power and stands toe to toe or maybe it is because he looks the way he does.
3) I'm not sure Ward's is mis-managed, he hadn't really fought anybody good until 2009 so he's only been in the public consciousness for 3 years or so, he's about where you'd expect him to be.
4) At this point Ward needs some fights against opposition the US public knows well. Pavlik was a good choice in that respect as was Dawson, Hopkins would be another good choice.
1) Broner is a good example to use. He is not the biggest thing in the sport but his name is more well known than Andre Ward's? Why is that? He is less accomplished and has faced meek competition. The answer is down to the way his promoters have marketed him. He's sold as the next Mayweather, the next superstar so people buy into it.
Chavez Jr. is the son of a Mexican legend? So what? It all boils down to his promoters marketing him.
2) Canelo is successful because he has promoters who know how to market him. There are plenty of Mexican fighters out there yet Golden Boy's promotion has sold the kid as the next Mexican star. People buy into it.
3) He is mismanaged. There are two ways of looking at things, one is from the point of view that he won an Olympic gold medal. That right there should have been enough to kick start interest in his career. Look at Audley Harrison, look at Amir Khan ( A silver Medalist). Many people were interested in those fighters sake of the medal they won. They market them as representatives of the country and people become interested.
Then there is the second way of looking at things. Okay he didn't fight anyone good until 2009. Why? He became a professional in 2004. Moving passed the why. 4 years have passed since 2009, why is he not a name now? The Super Six tournament gave him a major push, all he had to do after that was put a beating on Bute but the fight fell into the hands of Carl Froch.
4) At this point in time he needs promoters who will tell the community that he is the best in the business and ram it down people's throat. Casual fans cannot spot the difference between a can and a solid contender. He needs to be more active and he needs people creating a buzz about him.
What?? by beating up women in front of children, being a degenerate gambler and hanging round with a bunch of gun toting goons? Yeah, way to go!:nonono:I meant what was the purpose of that article. J. Prince is a bad man and Floyd choose not to go that route. Not saying hes a saint by any means but dont get purpose of posting article. It was meant to bash but came off like a floyd made a good choice at this particular time in his life
So Floyd wanted to be a thug but then wised up and choose the better route in life? How is this negative on him?

Rizwaan: What exactly happened between you and Floyd?
Jeff Mayweather: For me, it was a choice to leave. I always try to put my best foot forward and I’m all about family, and up until his like 10th fight, I never took a dime from Floyd Jr. I’m a modest person, I don’t need the fame. In my heart, I know what I have done. That's good enough for me. One day, when we were doing a radio show in Vegas, he shows up with James Prince. Myself or Roger didn’t know anything about this guy, but Floyd wanted him there. Floyd was the one whom put him on the fight scene, that’s how he got Winky Wright and Diego Corrales, Mark "Too Sharp” Johnson and also former IBF Jr Lightweight Champion, Steve "Two Pound" Forbes. I think he just took him to Houston and showed him the big houses, the nice cars and many other things as well. He also promised Floyd that he can establish his own rap label. Soon after, Floyd would act like he wanted to be a thug or something, he didn’t have any real life struggles or lived in the projects or did anything to give him any street credibility He grew up with a loving family in which we all did our part to help him reach his dreams. He never even worked a job growing up. He’s not 50 cent.
Hell, he’s not even 20 cent (laughing). At the end of the day, it was just wasted time and money with James Prince,So Floyd wanted to be a thug but then wised up and choose the better route in life? How is this negative on him?
Show me a source where it says James Prince goons beat Ellerbe up.And Ellerbe responded to Prince,Prince know who he`s talking about so Ellerbe don`t have to say his name.If Ellerbe was so afraid of him he wouldn`t have responded.
Go find it yourself, you lazy prick.(isnt that what you told someone yesterday?):lol1:
He did beat him up and some other guy who no longer works for floyd. I know its hard for you to accept, but its common knowledge for those who have followed boxing for long enough. I know beyond boner and floyd you dont really know anything about the sport, but being a flojob I would have expected you to have known this(unless you just block out anything painful or negative about floydie).
LOL It seems like that's exactly what they do.

Lol Floyd fanatics don't want to believe it happened

Can someone give me the cliffnotes about why Ward should root for Floyd? Isn't he friends with Guerrero?
Please don't tell me it's because Ward is half black. If so i may have to root for Guerrero against Mayweather because our skin color is closer.
I hope that's not the argument though.
It has nothing to do with race.Floyd and Ward were "friends".Also the day Ward was fighting for his first world title Floyd called him up to wish him good luck.Plus Ward trained at Mayweather boxing gym many times.
How would you feel if a guy you thought was your friend was rooting against you?
Because it's that Jerry Springer, "irregardless" (sic) junk that gets all melodramatic and ignorant. "First of all..." I can't take anyone's argument seriously if they begin like that.
fair enough
then why didn't Elerbe put prince on blast? Elerbe didn't even dare speak prince's name... cause prince's goons f'cked Elerbe up the were wiping Elerbe's blood off the floor of the top rank gym for weeks

J Prince already whipped Ellerbies A-S-S when Floyd owed him money and he had to go crying to Arum to save his life.
Yes Stan lets encourage more violent "ghetto" acts and praise them. But hey against Floyd so its all cool
So what would you call James Prince then since he defended the weight drainer?
Uh Oh guys it sounds like floyds girlfriend squad is angry. You guys hate Ward now huh? Make sure your leader Ashy Larryx doesn't try to kill Ward ok?

Harsh reality some people are that way...
To me doesn't matter what colour someone's skin is long as you beat Mayweather I couldn't care less!
Or the Klitschko's for that matter.
