Assuming this fight goes down, and I hope it does....would you mind seeing the winner of this fight get a showdown with Floyd later in the year???
I think by now we know Floyd-Canelo probably isn't happening this year, and we don't know if Canelo will even beat Trout. It's really a toss up fight.
But I don't see any possible fight for late 2013 for Floyd other than the winner of this, or maybe the Brook/Alexander winner.
If Matthysse were to win, he would have wins over Peterson and Ajose, and should have a win over Alexander, and a close arguable win/loss against Judah. And if Peterson were to win, he would have wins over Khan and Matthysse, and an arguable win/loss against Ortiz.
If Floyd stays active, a big IF, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing him take on the winner of this fight in the fall.
This Matthysse hype has gotten way outta control. :burnout: Funny thing is, I bet as soon as a Mayweather - Matthysse fight is signed, people would be saying why he wouldn't deserve credit for beating him. Hopefully Lamont stops this hype train because he actually is one of the few guys below 154 who could stand a chance.
Agree with you, but 7 lbs. can be huge for Lucas. I'd prefer him to take a tune up fight against a WW player, and then setup the fight.
I HATE when a fighter jumps up or down to a new weight class, and it's their biggest fight.
I think Matt's would become very ordinary at 147lb with the fighters mixing it up there..Hell Matt's is going to have some trouble at 140lb with the boy's waiting in the lurch there..
Here we go again the matthysse hype train rolling through again why even talk mayweather why not put the "killer" in with people who can challenge him (i.e. the terminater, predator,Hercules etc,.) because its clear when he fought Judah and Alexander he walked right through them.please don't talked about how he won those fights he lost get over it. those are two toughest bouts in his career ,yes he can knock out bums but not elite boxers.enough is enough good but not great fighter. Plus Peterson (who will probably be his toughest opponent to date)is going to show a good majority of you how good matthysse really is:sad6:
I genuinely feel Lucas would put it the fu.ck on Floyd like nobody else has in a long time and he wouldn't give him room to breathe.
Lucas applies intelligent pressure, he is one of the very best in the game at cutting a ring off. Hes got a granite chin and huge power in both hands.
His body punching is lethal.
I think stylistically hes the guy to give Floyd the biggest problems. Not Lara with no inside game, not slow-footed Canelo.
That said I don't feel for one minute he'll have it easy with Guerrero.
I would love to see this presuming they both pull through their next fight and ideally I'd like Lucas to test the waters at 147 first but I'd still have no real problem with it as a first fight at welter.
All of this said, and he probably won't even make it past Lamont Peterson. this post along with 100s of other posts exaggerating Matthysse, will be laughed at after Peterson beats him.
If lucas wins via KO nobody will want to figh him. If Lamont wins you'll hear him being dirty as an excuse too... The loser of that fight will have an easier time finding an opponent lol
I would like to see Matthysse-Mayweather because Lucas stops him big time. Mayweather might throw out the low life ghetto expletives with "ah ah ah got mah 0" "I is the best", but Lucas is a killer in the ring and nothing bothers that kid. Mayweather would run but Lucas will catch him eventually. He will also knock Peterson out(cold) in about 7. Peterson is a dumb fighter and he will try to trade body shots with Lucas and get clipped doing so. But Peterson is an average fighter while Lucas is elite. Big KO for Matthysse. Not even a close fight.
if lucas could do these things to a top jww and the number 1 fighter in the sport why couldnt he to judah and alexander?
before you say he won, dominated or got robbed fact is he both gave him trouble and both guys are known to quit but didn't against the monster matthysee.
floyd better fight again this year i mean he cant really think people will settle for rob g in a year then wait a whole damn year for another fight.
this fight is a solid fight but it's not what anyone wanted including me so he better fight again this year or he's lost a fan.
I'm down for it, If you look at the mayweather vs. ghost faceoff you can tell mayweather is really a 140lber. He's not any bigger than Lucas, peterson, or garcia. And all of those guys have pretty decent chins for the move up in weight.
No, Floyd is too big for those guys. Seven pounds is not that much but it is an edge for Floyd. I doubt Floyd will fight any 154 pounders and if he gives up his WBA 154 pound title he should not have to. Mayweather should defend his 147 pound tittle against the best welterweights. Neither of these guys has ever won a fight at 147.
I agree. Fight genuine welterweights or step up to 154 if he wants to fight there.

I'd like to see the winner of this fight Garcia (If he beats Judah) then a fight with Mayweather would be great.
I think the winner of that little tornument is definitely an option being considered for Mayweather.
Canelo is definite option and sadly I also believe Devon Alexander is. If Alexander beats Brook then that fight with Mayweather has a high chance of happening. But he'll have earnt it, in fairness.
Ideally, if Matthysee beats Peterson and Garcia beats Judah then a fight between those 2 will crown the undisputed king at 140 so it would be great if it panned out that way.
