How is Robert Guerrero a cherry pick for Floyd?

I think Mayweather did a lot of cherry picking in his mid-career (most notably choosing to fight judah after he lost to Baldomir) Wait...wasn't this fight locked up before the Baldomir-Judah fight? No one thought Tata would win that... So let me get this correct...Floyd cherry picked Judah who should have been the undisputed champ at 147 at the time, then when he couldn't get a good deal out of Arum to fight Margs, he leaves to fight Baldomir and then eventually gets a mega-million fight with Oscar... What?

this is really a 50/50 fight. I've said before and ill say it again....Floyd has looked slow, planted, and sluggish in his last 2 fights. you will continue to see him slow down even more so. will he lose....I woukdnt bet on it, but it would shock me either at this point in his career. At 147 outside of Pac/JMM/Bradley, Guerrero's a solid fight. so fighting the 4th best guy in a division is good enough? and when you combine that with all the guys from 154 that could be better trout, canelo, martinez, lara, and molina. possibly the 10th best option. low standards.

FACT: Berto was PEDs free. FACT: Berto had a very suspect resume prior to Ortiz and Guerrero. Summary: Berto needs to improve on his defense. You are wrong about Canelo wanting to fight Mayweather in September. Canelo made it very clear months ago that he wanted a big fight on May 4th 2013 and Mayweather was his first choice. His next picks were Cotto and Martinez. He wants to fight Mayweather most of all and the sooner the better. I don't think Mayweather wants to fight him. If he did he would be fighting Canelo on May 4th because that is a better paying fight for Money Mayweather than the Guerrero fight. As for Mayweather's fight with Guerrero being a cherry pick the fact is every time Mayweather or Pacquiao fight, no matter how tough the opponent, some will call it a cherry pick. I sure don't think Floyd fighting Guerrero is a cherry pick. If Floyd is going to stay at 147 then Guerrero is the fighter he should be fighting. Floyd is the WBC welterweight superchamp and Guerrero is the WBC regular welterweight champion and Floyd's mandatory defense. Unless Floyd is going to defend his WBA Jr. middleweight title that he won from Cotto last May for his September fight he needs to drop that title and give other good contenders a chance to win it.

Peoples idea of cherry picking is open to interpretation. But the way i see things is Floyd is the laughing stock of boxing, as he hardly fights. So for Floyd to shut people up hes got to do something amazing but fighting Guerrero isnt amazing. Its a good test for Floyd as Floyd isnt as good as some make out, but Guerrero is a nice name to pad out Floyds resume which certainly needs padding out, as its a little bare of late. Its definately a cherry pick though as arguably most would think Trout is more dangerous an opponent as would Canelo be, not to mention Sergio at 160. If you fight the people want you to fight, then its not a cherry pick. Not many people would have put Guerreros name forward as the most dangerous opponent though. Some accuse Pac of cherry picking,(but arent taken seriously) but when you fight as often as Pac you are afforded priviledges that people who like long layoffs and taking it easy arent given or entitled to. But come on, Pacs opponents are hardly cherry picks.

it's the sorrounding circumstances that makes this fight not a cherry pick...like welterweight being a weak division right now and the stupid promoters' fued that's preventing other matches from happening. for what's it worth though this is not a good fight like some people are saying. you can't find a single relevant advantage that guerrero has over floyd or even close to matching floyd's attributes for him to have a chance of beating floyd. you can't point out guerrero's inside fighting that he displayed against berto to be his weapon against floyd. berto almost leaned on the ropes by himself in theat fight so that guerrero can pin him without having to cut the ring. that's not gonna happen with floyd at all. guerrero will eat floyd's counters coming in and even if he gets sucessful getting inside, floyd would just smoothers him with his shoulder roll. he can't box with floyd too as floyd is the master of that. with floyd's reach, speed, good control of distance and ring generalship...what is there for guerrero to capitalize on? Agreed! I can't see how Guerrero could win, it's not a cherrypick, but not a good fight either, in my opinion.
