The way it works is that the bigger guy will always have the bigger opportunity to become the bigger star. The way the smaller fighter gets his name out is by demolishing his opponents (like manny was doing on his way up)
russell jr has an athletic gift from god!
Broner is exciting but not as gifted as Gary.
Tremendous Speed, Power, Great Footwork and Great Technique.. Not much more to be said.
But then I forget, about Brittle Hands.
I think Broner will be a bigger star in this sport. Once he hits the 140 and the 147 weight division his fights are going to be tougher for him to win. Gary Russell Jr hasn't done nothing in 2012 maybe he will in 2013 but he's been fighting a bunch of punching bags so far. Broner just has that thing about him that makes a star in this sport. It's called hated by many love by few which equals a fan base. A lot of people want to see him lose and only a few people want to see him win like Mayweather.
broner and it's not even close.. broner has the physical atributes to make a name in higher, more popular weightclass ... he's so far ahead right now compared to any other young guys ..
Probably Broner. I did think he looked good beating De Marco (whom I think is not bad ). Hope he looks as good as he fights more dangerous opponents.
Sadly, GRjr seems to not be making as big a splash as I'd thought he might.
21 fights but who has he fought? Nobody, and in his next fight he's fighting another nobody.
Broner has accomplished more so far. I won't argue that.
But Russell's next opponent isn't a nobody, he's a Russian ranked #7 by the WBO. Slowly but surely he's moving his way up the rankings.
gary russell has potential but american boxers with quiet personas are not gravitated to as much as those who are hated

Russell will be 25 this year, while Broner is 23. Broner will fight Rees and hopefully we see him back against another top LW, hopefully either the winner of Burns-Vazquez or the winner of Abril-Bogere.
Russell, well we'll probably see him back against another TBA caliber opponent.
Russell Jr. looks the part. He got blazing hand speed but he's being moved along very slowly. It's easy to let your hands fly when you know nothing is coming back in return that can damage you.
Add that to the fact that he's in the lower weight classes which aren't as popular on the PPV circuit.
how u gonna mention russel?Dude has no power and a midget
It's not even about his power or height, he's just not popular and he doesn't do anything to make himself popular. Looks more like he'll get praised for his handspeed and what he could've done.
Russel might end up being good in the elite level, i'm not convinced yet, but as far as big stars go...I don't see him in that conversation. 21 fights but who has he fought? Nobody, and in his next fight he's fighting another nobody.
As for the question at hand...Broner with 25 fights, has been champion in 2 weight classes and has wins over Ponce De Leon, DeMarco, Escobedo, Litzau, and Perez. He's also already gotten to the 1 million viewers mark on HBO. It's a no brainer.
I automatically associated the question with boxing ability. If we are talking bigger draw or whatever, then Broner. If we are talking more fulfilling, successful, and impressive career I'll take Russell jr.
That's not even fair. A fairer question is Broner and Canelo. They seem to be going on the path of the new PPV kings once Mayweather and Pacquiao retire.
Broner will take Mayweather's place, and Canelo will take De La Hoya's place which hasn't been taken since his retirement. It was between Canelo, Chavez Jr or Ortiz but it seems like Canelo has all the tools to take the Mexican PPV crown. A win over Trout would get him hype to epic proportions.
Probably Broner. Russell doesn't look he's going to fill out that much more, no guarantee that he carries that sick hand speed with him either. Also, quality of opposition matters too. Currently 140 has a lot of guys Broner could make a name off of if he moves up soon.
Despite what Broner says, he overlooks every opponent. Sure he trains but he thinks he is going to fly to victory easily in every fight. He has a very skewed view of the world from up on that pedestal, when reality hits, it's already too late.
