"Sugar" Shane Mosley is 41 and 0-3-1 in his last four fights -- with each loss a one-sided decision -- but the former champion is ending his retirement for a world title shot.
Mosley will challenge welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi on April 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Malignaggi's hometown, in a Showtime-televised main event.
Mosley told ESPN.com on Monday that the deal has been agreed to and that "on my end, it's a go."
Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer also said the deal is agreed to and that the paperwork is being finalized.
This is gonna be a terrible fight. I have absolutely no interest in watching it.
SSM is my fav all time fighter but man he has to go. Its time to retire, at least back in the pac loss you could have said that an ATG retired your az not a never was
WTF say it aint so SSM
My bad I forgot the *** fought Canelo after the Pac fight
Mosley loses... Paulie is still mobile, and even though he only uses the jab, he uses it a lot... and he will land them because Mosley never moves his head, on top of the fact Mosleys punch output is terrible.
Paulie via Boxfest.
Not too mention Paulie has a good beard in case Mosley lands a nice punch here or there.
Shane Mosley has as much of a chance as Roy Jones does in beating Andre Ward.
Shane Mosley has as much of a chance as Roberto Duran has of beating Floyd Mayweather today.
Basically, No Chance in hell.
I know Paulie is not a great fighter...but have you guys seen Shane Mosley??????
Dude is shoot as ****, almost Roy Jones shot.
Mayweather fight - tired, sloppy, super slow
Mora fight - tired, sloppy, slow, got outpointed by a B level fighter
Pacquiao - ran away like a coward, a disgrace to the Sugar name
Canel - a asswhooping
What here gives me any hope for Shane?
To me, Shane Mosley is no different from Roy Jones, dude is washed up!!! point blank period.
I love how people just seem to gloss over a cheater like Mosley, they talk about others but somehow Mosley seem to be conveniently left out and now he is getting another payday SMH.
How can anyone be excited to see Mosley in the ring again? All of his fights following Margarito have been just terrible to watch. It might be a neat idea that these two big names of boxing are fighting eachother, but how can anyone expect this fight to produce any ounce of entertainment?
My only question is, if Mosley wins, does he make a title defense or does he retire? Maidana/Mosley anyone???
If he wins, I think he fights Alexander or Brook. If he wins that, the sport of boxing is in deep **** because he would set himself up for another big megafight.
But Shane hasn't won a fight in 4 years. This isn't the Shane that was in the ring with De La Hoya or even Margarito. This is a flat footed, pity pat, love tapping fighter that has nothing left in the tank. Paulie will box circles around him.
