My pick is morales, lol, this is why.............................................
http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4530706004181087&pid=15.1
if erik morales ended his career after the 1st pacquiao fight with a career record of 48 and 2(only 2 losses 2 barrera but 1 win for erik vs barrera)
how great would he be remembered, would he woulda wound up as the greatest mexican fighter of all time, knowing hes beaten every fighter hes faced at least one time and hes only lost to 1 fighter in a really close fight twice(barrera)
morales resume woulda been crazy(48-2 arguably 50 and 0 if not from close decision)
wins over...................
zaragoza
j.jones
espadas(twice)
hernandez
ayala
j.chavez
k.kelley
mc collough
chi
ramirez
barrera
pacquiao
would he been considered the greatest mexican boxer of all time considering hes a 3 weight division world champ and last fighter to have beaten pacquiao in boxing at 48 and 2
i personally think he was the greatest mexican fighter ever but everyone disagrees and i think if he ended his career after the pacquiao fight, i think morales woulda been easily in the top 15 greatest fighters of all time
what do people think about morales, the most exciting fighter arguably in boxing history, the type of fighter who fights for the fans
el terrible:boxing::boxing:
after his prime, morales still did something even though he wasnt as great as he once was...........................
morales should be a 5 division champ, got robbed vs diaz(only 4 division)
vote, there is a poll, multy picks
Like I said Dunn, the people have their reasons and they will never change.
Some because regional stuff like Greatest "Barrera hates TJ!"
I been following JMM since the Fight Night at the Forum days but im new school. LOL. Its stuff like this.
Even this guy has to take a jab at me for stating what is clearly the truth .. Marquez outlasted Morales in the fight game because he fought smarter and ultimately fighting smarter has allowed him to climb heights that Morales and Barrera never could. You even try to throw out the last few years of morales career to make him look better. Man, if Marquez retired right now he will be all the things you said Morales could have been. Case closed!
you speak for yourself, lol, not for me, lol, once was a barrera fan but he is classless, lol, you spoke what you insinuated for yourself cause that was your statement, not mine:boxing:
Wow, it's very hard to choose. Both of these guys are great fighters and have represented the country of Mexico with pride and honor. Both of them get my vote as the greatest modern Mexican fighter. Both should be ranked number 1.
i understand what you insinuated about yourself without being honest about your choice, lol, you are new school so you voted marquez, case closed, lol, i never liked barrera but it because he was a rich scumbag who talked sh1t about poor people in tijuana

Serious question-what do mean by agenda against JMM?
he has a agenda against morales, lol, ive never hated marquez, lol, he probably backs barrera(over morales) so he voted for marquez(over morales), lol, hes biased morales hater , barrera supporter
The fans are rivals just like Barrera and Morales and JMM.
Barrera and Morales started with a big push so they have an older crop of fans/backers that will root for their guy (Barrera or Morales) and never root for the other guy. Kind of like how Barrera will never root for JMM or Erik.
Barrera has a core that dont lilke Morales or JMM.
Erik has a crowd that dont like Barrera or JMM.
Since those two were stars first they had more backers and the common guy to diss was JMM.
Those backers are like the Old school beliefs crowd. New school will never be badder than old school, etc.

Come on... When Erik fought Junior Jones, Jones was already on his way out. He got KTFO by McKinney and thats supposed to be better than KOing a guy that never been KOed like master boxer Casamayor? or Juan Diaz? :boxing:
Famoso and Chavez were good titlists but I wouldnt favor them over Juan Diaz or Casamayor. Kevin Kelley was OK too but I favor the Salido win over that win.
And Morales IMO lost the first Espadas fight.
Not saying Morales is not a great fighter or that he doesnt have a great resume but lets call it like it is.
There was always an agenda against Marquez. Thats why they never fought when they were both young. Thats why they still wont fight. Even after Marquez secures one of the biggest wins/KO's there is still an agenda against him. SMH.

very vey close and difficult call to make.
prime to prime at 130. i believe morales has the tools to beat marquez.
but damn, marquez KO over pac is only something every mexican could've dream of.
a fight of that magnitude. he was the underdog. it was their part IV.
that was just mind blowing for me.
i got the three of them in a tie.. marquez wins just had a better timing.
Marquez is an ATG and finally has his career defining "Official" win over Pacquaio. Which, in fairness, probably should, be more.
But outside of that? How deep is his resume? Not very. What's his best win outside of that? Salido perhaps? Then who? Katsidis? Juan Diaz? I'd compare those to Morales win over Wayne MCullough, perhaps a tad higher.
Morales also has a win over Pacquaio. A career defining feat, also.
But outside of that, I think it's clear as day to see his resume is a lot deeper than Marquez' and I can't see how that's even remotely arguable.
Let's not even get to the fact he has a prime Barrera on his resume.
Guys like Zaragoza, Ayala, Chavez, Junior Jones, Espadas Jr, Kevin Kelley, Carlos Hernandez.
I can't see how an argument can be made unless you consider Marquez to have won all 4 of the Pacquaio fights.

My opinion on this has changed in the last two weeks.... pre Pac KO it was Morales, now it is Marquez imo.
Barrera was my favorite of all of them though.
Easily Morales
Morales made his name not just off 1 fighter like Marquez
so how did Morales make his name? by losing to Barrera 3 times?
No disrespect to Morales cause he is a warrior and a Hall of Famer, but in my book there is no way in the world Morales won a single fight against Barrera.
With Marquez's knockout of Pacquiao fresh on everybody's mind and Morales' last great fight (not a shell of himself against sub par boxers with heavy hands) many years behind him, I will be very surprised if Marquez doesn't get the votes. Skewed poll.
To me Marquez was never given a real chance because sadly enough not many Mexicans enjoyed his safe first counterpunching style back in the feather weight division so because of him being less exciting he was always in their shadows.
To me, Morales is greater in resume and accomplishments but I think JMM has always been the better boxer.
Morales is greater IMO. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Marquez, he's a legend, but it feels like he's piggy backing off of Pacquiao's accomplishments. Pacquiao fights all these guys, climbs all these divisions, does things that Marquez probably couldn't have done, and Marquez just happens to have Pacquiao's number so he beats him and gets tons of credit almost by proxy.
I can certainly understand having morales higher, but by quite a margin? I'm not sure that's possible. If you really compare their resumes there just isn't that much difference any more. Similar accomplishments, similar resumes. I'm not sure either could be considered higher by quite a margin now...
I wanna hear it either way?
