Richard Schaefer is talking about a card that could possibly break PPV records on Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Mayweather card discussion begins at 3 mins...
GB will need a stacked card to even think about competing with 2.4 mil. What realistic card could Oscar and Schaefer put together for May 4th that would come close to breaking the May 5th, 2007 PPV record?
Hopefully we get a stacked card similar to the ones Don King used to put together in the early '90s, maybe something like this...
Maywether vs Guerrero
Alvarez vs Cotto/Trout/Angulo
Ortiz vs Khan/Berto II
Santa Cruz vs Anselmo Moreno/Darchinyan
...or something like that.

Canelo should fight Trout. Also I doubt Cotto is coming back by May, he's said he will be taking a long break.
Ahh, so mostly speculation. Would be a great fight for the undercard and I do remember FMJ saying AB would be on his undercard. I hope they make it, would help make up for the disappointing main event.
I agree... a win over Trout (which is not a given) legitimizes Canelo as a champion. Trout could spoil it for Floyd vs Canelo though. Don't know who else they could match up against Alvarez to build up a fight with May in Sept.
I wonder who else will get put on the card (4th bout). Mares? Santa Cruz? Angulo?
I'm guessing here... looks like Broner is fighting Rees in Feb (stay busy fight) and May is talking about AB fighting on his May card... do the math (they're both from the UK) and it adds up to Broner vs Burns (which GB wanted to do in Feb) for May 4 (a Lightweight unification fight).
I've read Canelo don't wanna fight Cotto cuz he's lost two in a row and would rather fight Trout. Good matchup... Cotto makes for a bigger event though.

Broner vs Burns? That's a damn good undercard. When did this news break?

This card's looking pretty decent after all (with the addition of the Problem)...
May vs Ghost
Canelo vs somebody
Broner vs Burns (probably)
Now give us a strong opening fight and I might buy this card.

Schaefer always over estimates PPV buys. I think it was against Shane Mosley he said it would do 3 million buys or something like that.
If it's floyd vs guererro I would imagine they would simply do the same thing they've been doing which is have Canelo on the undercard, against Angulo. So I would imagine around the typical (fantastic) Floyd numbers around 1.5 million give or take.
I agree, Schaefer and Oscar are full of shit. The question now is, who will they put up against Canelo? Angulo seems about right; he's on the verge of another loss anyway.
I hardly ever miss a PPV, but if this May card is Floyd vs Guerrero and the undercard is shit, I ain't buying it. If Shaefer's idea of a "Record Breaking" event is Floyd vs Robert G with a weak undercard, they ain't getting no where near "Record Breaking".
Mayweather is fighting either Alvarez or Martinez. A long stretch, but I'd expect him to fight even Trout before he fights Guerrero.
Why not...
Mayweather vs. Martinez
Alvarez vs. Angulo
Cotto vs. Guerrero
Khan vs. Garcia II
Trout vs. Bundrage
Nah, the availability of streams has killed any chance of approaching that.
Back when May/DLH set the record streaming service sucked.
Now decent quality streams are everywhere.
first things first.... grab a delorian, go back a few years...
because the only thing that breaks records is mayweather vs pacquiao...
like i've said before, i know this is boxingscene, but the reality is the majority of people that buy a ppv dont watch..... and dont even care for the undercard, so i have no idea where you guys think having a stack card makes some sort of difference

I would jizz in my pants if this was a legit card. Throw Trout vs. Bundrage on there for good measure.

I watched it live anyway but I didn't pay for that s**t and I dubbed on a DVD a week after the fight on demand.
Without a major superfight to headline it aint happening. And for them to even attempt it by stacking the card would be stupid.
I love boxing a much as the next guy but I am not gonna make iy through 4 or 5 televised 12rd fights without being too hammered to possibly miss the main event completely.
Also from a business standpoint it makes no sense to stack a ppv to break a record and ley all your other ppvs for the remaining year tank completely.
