Sergio Martinez doesn't have a signature win

I wish Martinez was about 3-4 years younger. I don't know why he was looked over so much for fights he should have had.

Williams KO - signature win Chavez decision - signature performance Does he have that opponent that would help him cement his legacy? Not yet, but he has a bit more time left to make it happen. He just has to capitalize on the opportunity if it presents itself. MW is a hot-bed of talent right now, and if the right fights are made, Martinez could find himself in the position to fight the indisputable #2 in the division, therefore cementing his legacy imho. The winner of Golovkin/Geale vs. the winner of Quillin/Pirog, and whoever wins that would be a legacy fight for Martinez.

I think he's a great fighter but just doesn't have a great resume. Even all of you said it, Williams is his signature win and what does that count for in the all time rankings - nothing. The biggest fight he's been in was against Chavez, he needs more big fights if he wants greatness. Fighting Barkers and Macklins ain't gonna boost his rankings either I don't think anyone, including the biggest idiots of his fans, are claiming he's an ATG caliber fighter.

Sure buddy, but let me guess Ward and Broner's resumes are pound for pound material? Dude is going to come off of a surgery to beat another undefeated guy who got ripped off in Germany against Sturm (the draw was a joke). Just beat an undefeated giant who was 5 inches taller than him and outweighed him by 15 pounds at least on fight night, who was 10 years younger. You see what Barker and Macklin did in their last fights? I'll give you a hint: just because HBO doesn't hype his opponents up, doesn't mean they aren't good. Guys that HBO hypes up usually haven't done shizz but they try to convince the public otherwise. Yeah, it sure was a joke. Sturm should have got the W. What is most telling about Martinez, is that both macklin and barker that both were KO`ed by Sergio , have gone on to dominate there next apponents and win championships. Martinez is not a good fighter he is a great fighter, and a fighter that deserves all the respect in the world. He may be older now but the last 3 years he was every bit a good PFP as Floyd mayweather No, they haven't. And they've been dominant against poor fighters.

yes he does, the Williams KO and that win has caused him to be highly overrated that, Pavlik, and Chavez, pretty decent run but he's not worthy of all the hype he gets he's stopped lesser guys and gotten hyped to hell for it

Agreed. Because he started so late, he really didn't start being good til his 30s. His resume wont be atg, but he beat some damn good fighters in impressive fashion.
