Chavez is clearly the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, but Marquez is up there too along with Sanchez, Barrera, and Morales. But those 3 names are pretty much done, while Marquez is still active.
Do you think Juan can still surpass Chavez as the best Mexican fighter ever? If so, what should he do? face Floyd again? unify the 140 lbs division?
And you also said the right handed he knocked out Pacquaio with wasn't something he practiced or planned...
You know what, your one of the most dishonest posters in this place, seriously. I NEVER said any of those things. See, what you don't know is that you spoke out of turn, I wasn't saying that the right hand was lucky or that it wasn't worked on, of course it was and I said that a million times.
My response in that thread was that someone came on and said that JMM's game plan was to get hurt and move into the ropes, that's absurd. You don't purposely get hurt in any fight, and that's what I was referring to.
The off angle right hand behind the right handed jab is of course something you work on, I teach it myself. I just don't think JMM was purposely getting hurt to lure Manny into the ropes like the other guys were saying.
you should slap your self never disrespect marquez like that.
Everything he does, Lopez did better. My bad, I'll stop talking about fighters you haven't watched.
Skillwise, Marquez is a poor man's Ricardo Lopez but since he was lucky enough to fight in weightclasses filled with big names he will probably go down as the greater fighter P4P.

I'm Puerto Rican but I follow boxers from every country and I'm not biased, so I'll post my thoughts.
If JMM could be like Foreman and remain world class in his 40's while beating guys like Ríos or Bradley, he could have an argument. As it is, he still has Morales, Sánchez, Chávez and, possibly, Ricardo López ahead of him. I rate him over Barrera, Pintor, Zárate, and José Luis Ramírez, to name a few.
By the way, what's the rating of Ramírez in Mexico?
marquez has to be number 2
Juan Manuel Marquez is derived from Ricardo Lopez Nava.
Ricardo Lopez is so overlooked :/

If he took bradleys strap and beat floyd mayweather i think the would be equal to chavez accomplishments
equal? i think a win against floyd after knocking out pac would officially put him past chavez... marquez at 39 or 40 would have beaten two of the best fighters of this era.
Damn, that's crazy. There are so many great Mexican fighters from a long time ago. I always liked Jose Luis Ramirez, but I don't know too much about boxing history. You forgot Ruben Olivares who should easily be among the top 5 greatest Mexican fighters.
I like Ramírez too and think he is very underrated. He lost some of his major fights against Olivares, Arguello, Mancini, Camacho, Chapo, and Chávez, but he did his thing also. He beat Chapo in a a spectacular rematch, regained the title for a second time, beat tough guys like Terrence Alli and Boza Edwards, and had over 100 wins. He was similar to Chávez, even in his fighting style although he was a southpaw.

No one is following you. You, a professed Mexican biased supporter, just happen to be on every Mayweather topic.
Don't be mad.

So you mean there are only about three champions today?
You never call someone that holds anything but the lineal, or better Undisputed, title a champion?
You honestly refer to only those with an Undisputed title or the clear lineal title as champions today?
Correct...
Well no he's not because its a paper title, as is his 140lb title.
