.... Once again very easy work for Mayweather.
There needs to be an understanding on who simply is the better counter puncher/overall boxer. No matter what weight.
Folks your thoughts...
How? Everything JMM does very well Mayweather does it better.
JMM is at his best when he is the counter puncher instead of the aggressor. We already saw what happened in the first fight when he was the aggressor.
I already went into that. MW didn't seem to have the same legs against Cotto that he had against Marquez either.
JMM is a counter puncher, yes. And he did hit Floyd it just didn't phase Floyd. This time it would. Explain it how you will, but Marquez is like 4 times stronger than he was against Floyd. That counts for something. Always does. Without technique, it doesn't, but coupled with the skills Marquez already has and it makes one hell of a difference. The fight would look different. Higher stakes, and JMM, in his current incarnation, could at least physically be able to compete with a guy like MW, style question aside.
He could NOT match MW's physicality last time. He was a fat midget last time. All will and grit but no true plan how to face MW and no ability to hurt MW.
i want to see this. New buff Marquez against Floyd.
for me its a very legitimate fight

Floyd speed is gone legs are gone very hitable size will no longer be a difrence marquez is strong and his speed is ok floyd is no longer in his prime the only reason he beat jmm in 09 was cuz jmm was fighting above 140 for the first time he is a natural welterweight now
Floyd at 147 is faster than JMM everywhere !
Floyd outclassed JMM, one of the most intelligent fighters today. I don't see his knockout of Pac justifying this rematch. JMM should stay away from Floyd because he's a completely different puzzle.

Floyd had way better legs back then, I actually think that was his last fight as a prime fighter. He has lost a step and goes to the ropes more often now so that would give JMM more opportunities. On the other hand Floyd is making these fighters take random blood tests so that might throw a wrench on JMM new found 1 punch power.
I wouldn't mind the fight but it most likely won't happen.
I understand what you're suggesting but for all of Floyds antics outside the ring an idiot inside the ring; he is not. Mayweather would not lunge that close into intermediate range like Pacquiao did against Marquez in the KO animation, even when he jabs he laterally travels backward.
Yes, I agree Floyd would never be caught by that KO shot. I wasn't referring to that shot though, I was referring to the knockdown shot in round 3. Floyd could possibly get hit with that. Mosley just had to jab to the body to hit him with that overhand right. Likewise, Marquez was working Pac's body to open him up upstairs.
I'm not really buying the 'malnourished' line from Camp Floyd, so that counts as nothing to me. Sounds like the whining of a guy who went from privileged to prison in my book.
Also, Marquez has looked much better in every outing he has had against Pac then he looked against Floyd. That's because Floyd dominated him and Pac didn't. You always look better in those fights you do well in then those in which you don't.
Marquez caught Floyd, yes, but he never caught him like he caught Manny and he's not likely to because Floyd doesn't fight like Manny.
I'm also not thinking he all of a sudden has more ability to hurt Floyd just because of this KO or even the knockdown shot. This was more about timing and the openings Manny gave him, not strength.
The fight doesn't look different to me just because Marquez got a career defining KO victory.
four things.
Weight is a very important issue. Downplay it all you like but JMM was fat and outsized in their match. This would be evened up in that respect. Even though Floyd would still be bigger.
If you haven't seen the change in physique compared to the Floyd fight then I don't know what to say. Of course an increase of strength and speed is a factor in whether he could hurt Floyd...
Floyd still served Jail time. Tyson did the same thing (well, prison) and came back worse after. Who knows how Floyd will be when we finally see him in the ring again?
The dynamic would be different. Marquez would be trying to (and fully capable of) knocking Floyd's head off, so that would bring out the best in Floyd as well. Floyd would in turn try to KO Marquez... To make a statement he was better than everyone all along, and to combat the tenacity of a hulk Marquez in full beast mode. It would be a much more exciting fight than the first one, because the stakes would be higher.
This time Floyd did jail time and was supposedly malnourished and dehydrated. Also, Marquez looked much better in this outing than against Floyd. His form, his physique, all looked superior. He's really grown into his weight. The style matchup suggests Floyd would try to finesse Juan again, but if Juan can catch Floyd with a similar punch he hit Pac with in the third round, it would change things. Furthermore, Floyd did get hit in their fight, Marquez just didn't have the ability to hurt him. Now I have to say he probably does.
If Juan can get comfortable and find a rhythm, then there is no one better than Marquez to figure out how to thread punches through that defensive shell of Floyd's. Floyd was coming back from a layoff last time, so that's not a change.
It's an intriguing matchup because Marquez's stock just went up, but nothing about him looks different enough to suggest the fight will go any differently.
Marquez is smart, but Floyd is the smartest fighter of this generation. I'm not knocking it as a fight that shouldn't be booked, but nothing has changed enough to expect a new outcome.

Marquez is smart. He and Nacho will have learned from facing Floyd the first time, and be trying new things. Also he wouldn't be blown up, and Floyd may have lost a few steps from his layoff.
Its a very intriguing match all over again. Floyd was coming back from a layoff last time, so that's not a change.

just say no! *****s! it would be a repeat 12-0, Marquez is smaller p4p would be more competitive prime for prime/ equal size aka both natural welters either way Mayweather is the superior counterpuncher and has all the size advantages plus he makes marquez be the aggressor.

Marquez its a living legend ... but yeah Floyd its just a bad matchup for him, Manny goes to him when Juan waits for him.
If u fight a waiting fight against Floyd u are just givin it away he would just potshot marquez all night and it would be a scorecards wipeout again.
Still new buff marquez rocks ! im still pumped because of the fight that was just history in the making.
It's a good fight to sell now, though I doubt it goes much different. Bigger Marquez is a slower Marquez, which means he lands even less shots then last time and Mayweather doesn't jump into punches like Manny does, so I don't see that one perfect counter punch ever coming.
Not that I don't think Marquez shouldn't consider this match. It'll make money and Marquez is about 40 without a whole lot left to prove in his career. If he gets that perfect shot and wins, he goes down as an all-time great, no questions asked. If he loses (as I think he most likely would), it's only one more loss against a whole ton of wins and it comes against a guaranteed hall-of-famer, so I don't think it diminishes his career at all.
Win-win for Marquez and possibly for Mayweather, too.
EDIT: Just want to add that I also agree with those who say Marquez should consider just retiring now on a high note.
I would love nothing more than to see Mayweather photoshopped into racecar beds at the hands of JMM.
But he is not the one to do it. Bad style match-up.
Don't let tonight's performance deceive you either. He should get out of boxing soon. He has made his mark, money and has nothing left to prove
