Everything he's said confirms that he feels he can only win by KO as the judges won't give it to him on the cards- entirely understandable, I agree with him.
He's coming in muscly to better his chances of doing that but banging with Pac is all wrong. I remember Roach saying he thought Marquez was going to bang with Pac in the 3rd fight but he didn't and Pac is never likely to win a chess match against Marquez.
But Marquez knows he can't play chess this time. Circumstances have conspired against him.
I hope Marquez is somewhat exaggerating how aggressive he will be but deep down I don't think so. His aggression is the most likely downfall, although in a sense he has no choice but, at the ripe old age of 39, to do what hasn't been done for almost 14 years.
I predicted a close fight last time, a round or two either way. But if Marquez decides to be overly aggressive this time I think it's Pac's.
I would rather a tactical Marquez losing on the cards but winning in reality than an all out Marquez leaving himself vulnerable to a finish to his career which he wouldn't have wanted.
jmm took a calculated risk in bulking up sacrificing speed for power, his boxing talents are still there though and his style has never relied heavily on speed so i wouldn't be too worried about him getting KO'd
pacquiao is gonna win this fight though, neither guy is stopping the other guy and vegas referees seem to favor pacquiao in this matchup
How do you sacrifice speed for power when speed is one of the two main factor in punching power?
I doubt Marquez will fight like a wildman. He knows he can be badly hurt by Pacquiao. He'll press things when it's advantageous, no more than that. Plenty of hard feinting. He's started already.
He could potentially win it on the cards though. I think the judges might feel under pressure to give him the closer rounds this time, whereas last year, they probably found it very difficult to give close rounds against Pacquiao.
Pacquiao was still on a roll back then, a lot has changed in the meantime, and I think the fact that he lost a decision against Bradley is very significant. It makes it less of a big deal for the judges to give him another one.
The Arum factor is another story.
