He has had a great career, earned a lot of money and had given boxing fans a lot of memories. He has now lost 2 fights in a row, what do you think he should do next? I think he is at the end of his career and id hate to see him go on and becom a stepping stone for up and coming fighters.Id like to see him maybe fight 1 more time in Puerto Rico and leave out with a win and start promoting and training up and coming fighters. He really has nothing else to prove and does not need to keep taking punishment
I'd like to see Cotto matched up with Carlos Molina. I think its a good fight between two good fighters, PR v. Mexico, grab a good win to cap off a career. I'd hate for him to become a stepping stone.
This was a bad matchup and Haymon was given a huge favor from GBP to boost up Trout some. At this point, get some good matchups, not one where the guy towers over a fading former champ.
While Molina won't make for a pretty performance, its a good stylistic matchup
that would be a good way for cotto to go out, whooping on margarito one more time. but margarito will have to come to p.r. to fight since no one is interested in seeing him fight again,
Texas doesn't have pussy docs m8.
Tony knees him again.
Margarito vs Cotto III in Texas:boxing:

I think he should try to leave on a win,and give his home land a great fight, thats how a champion should bow out imo
that would be easy for cotto to do since he still can beat alot of guys in the 154 division. outside the top 5 of the division atleast.
I think he should retire and enjoy his wealth and fame. If he continues I think he should go to 147 and fight guys like Guerrero, Bradley and Alexander but leave Floyd and Pacquiao alone. If he stays at 154 he should try to beat Bundrage and defend that tittle against some of the lesser contenders.
This is tough, 147 lb figher, just lost, older then 35. hmmmm

That makes no sense...
Cotto is a 154 lb fighter who just lost. Chances are Canelo is going to go after a 147 lb fighter who just lost. ENTER BERTO
Even better, the drug cheat gets another vicious beat down. :lol1:
going to 147 now would make him a hypocrite....he said 150 was to low to fight Manny
I think in this regard, cotto is just a tad lazy and/or conceited. Hed definitely have to restrict his calories, but he could healthily make it imo.
As far as if that would make him a hypocrite....idk....and dont really care. Things change, and a bump in the road of miguels career has appeared.

Wrong that is total bullsh1t...........he will try to fight a 140 pounder who just lost and who is also old..enter Guzman
Cotto still has alot left to give. With that said, i dont want to see him taking any fights at 154. Canelo would be a good stylistic matchup, but cotto doesnt need that fight for the very potential punishment. All the other fights at 154 are irrelevant imo, and do nothing but put cotto as a stepping stone for others. He doesnt win much, and potentially loses alot with these fights.
At 147 tho, theres plenty of good fights for him to add to his legacy. Guerrero, pacquiao, marquez, bradley, etc. These are all fights he could easily win, and would be big for his legend and pocket.
I guess we just live in the day and age of adhd. Cotto loses to potentially the greatest fighter of our generation....and people deem cotto as overrated/shot/over the hill/etc. Next, he loses to a much bigger, undefeated young and hungry champion, and the same sentiments are repeated. Who knows how history will remember trout, or how great he actually. But cotto still has much more in the tank imo, and mentally he is not done.
Id much rather cotto fight a few more times, and be mentally and spiritually ready to hang up the gloves, than to retire prematurely and come back years later in much worse shape. The latter is a joke and depressing.
Move down to 147 try and get a rematch with either Pacquiao or Mayweather. If he can't, then maybe he should retire.

Needs to get fed to Canelo while he still has namesake.
