..Michael Farenas at this juncture in his career?
Given Gamboa wins, most will use the Broner v DeMarco performance as Gamboa's "measuring stick" post fight.
A s*!t-storm of Gamboa 'haters' coming out the closet on this one, beware!
Ring rust etc i dont expect nothing too crazy and if you want to make a fair comparison give Gamboa Demarco watch what happens to Demarco If you want a measuring stick watch both of them fight a tough as hell new and improved Ponce de leon.
here is farenas ..he was winning against uchiyama before the cut.
but i still think gamboa beats him..
there's a reason why yordan and mikey garcia cancelled their fight against farenas..
more like penalosa style of fighting duck and dodge, slick puncher.
I'm not worried.
Even with a major lay-off and a very decent opponent, I'm so sure of Gamboa that I virtually expect him to look great. He's just that good. I expect the same Gamboa as before, and if so, he's quite simply the best fighter around those weight classes.
Whilst I feel Gamboa is an exceptional talent, I believe Farenas can give him problems. Gamboa may make it look easy, hes that good on his A game, but baring in mind his inactivity & me feeling Farenas is very underrated, I feel this is a good fight.
Farenas is a very tough, awkward southpaw with a big punch. hes a good bodypuncher, he has a nice uppercut. Hes got speed, he lets nothing go too waste and when he has you hurt, he's a good finisher. I genuinely do see a bit of Pacquaio in him. Not just because he is a southpaw and Filipino, but the style, the way he loops his lead over the top, the angles, hes a good balanced fighter.
I feel hes been a bit unfortunate with decisions and he does cut easily.
I expect Gamboa to win but I'm not one of these that expects this to be a walk in the park.
i think he cana fford to look rusty at times, because he has been away for a year after all, one thing thought that he has to absolutely do on this big stage is win by ko , no doubt about it
I think Gamboa looks impressive even on his worst day, without even trying .Am I gonna be disappointed if he doesn't KO Farenas? Nope cause Farenas been down only once and never KOed. Plus when was the last time Gamboa KOed someone. To me watching Gamboa for 12 rounds straight is like watching a p0rn in 3D, amazing. Posted from Boxingscene.com App for Android
Gamboa will starch farenas. I love to think Farenas has a chance.. I just don't see it..
No shame in losing to Gamboa. The man's a beast. He's one of the few boxers in the world with superstar potential.
With you on this one. Gamboa WILL win I feel. Question is how will he win?
He needs to look even more impressive given that he's on an undercard imo...
Anything less than great in this fight might put him in a bit of obscurity.
I don't think the moment's lost on Gamboa. Much as I like Rigo, Yuri isn't him. I have a feeling Gamboa is going to look to make a statement: "I'm back!" He might work a few rounds, just to get the motor running, but then he's going to open up and let 'em fly. Once that happens, Farenas will be looking up at the lights....
I wouldnt make it that exagerrated. Anything could happen. Its why they fight the fights. Gamboa is probably gonna win by ko..but farenas might catch him napping due to gis inactivity for all we know.
I was just goofing. But I would say it would be a big upset, even with an inactive Gamboa.
We already have Ponce De Leon as a measuring stick.
Not using PDL as a measuring stick, sorry.
Broner already has proven he can hang post Ponce... I'm expecting Yuri to do the same come Dec. 8th.
I'm prepared for a "less-than-optimal" Gamboa on December 8. Yuri's been gone for over a year; his timing will almost certainly be off. In that regard, I expect him to be "less-than-stellar." On the other hand, he'll be on a Pacquiao undercard, fighting under a new promoter, trying to get his career back on track. The incentive might just be enough for Gamboa to shine. I can't wait to find out which "Ciclon" will show up.

C'mon...you're comparing Farenas to Pac and Nonito? Saying "it could happen again" against Gamboa is like saying a meteor is going to strike the earth tonight and wipe out all humanity. Sure, it can happen, but probably not...at least not tonight. lol

Did u remember the Past? Donaire was just an opponent against Darchinyan? Pac was just a quick replacement opponent against Ledwaba! Lookk what Happened??? It could happen again!

Stop touting this kid, Farenas, "Oracle." :lol1:
Save your exuberance for the Pinoys that are actually worth a damn, like Manny and Donaire. Michael is going to be there as an "opponent", nothing more. Gamboa is gonna paste him. It's only a question of how bad.
