that was a good fight. Yes Cotto lose this fight, but the judges was really bad ! To my personal pointage i have 116-113 for Trout.. I think Canelo gonna beat trout :boxing:
Cotto's stamina was ok to me. He just got outboxed. Trout really fought a good outside fight. He's a bigger guy and used his reach accordingly. If Cotto wants to fight against real 154 Lbs he's going to have to box better. He's not going to hurt any of them.
Since he'll never go back to 147 where I think he'd be strong against guys like Alexander and Guerrero he might as well just retire. While i think he is a better boxer than Canelo, he doesn't match up physically at all. Canelo would overpower him inside of 8.
I saw this fight live and maybe it was due to sitting high up, but I honestly thought the fight looked closer than it was. I saw Cotto attacking often and he seemed to be landing some nice shots although Trout was getting in as well. I gotta rewatch it on tape and maybe I'll see it differently. Cotto just doesn't seem right at 154lbs and should consider retirement if he won't get his ass back down to 147lbs. Although since that won't happen, retirement should be in his mind right about now... He's done all he could and put on great fights for the fans. I loved watching those fights but now at 154lbs where he looks a lot less effective in every aspect, it's not fun anymore watching him get hurt or beat up.
"Canelo" Alverez walked out of the arena when Trout called him out, so I highly doubt that fight will happen soon. I would like Austin Trout to fight K-9 to unify the W.B.A ( Regular ) and I.B.F belts.

I wanna see what K9 has to say about Trout now. If I remember correctly, he didn't want to fight Trout or Lara, only Canelo.

neglect the jab? lol
dude had a substantial reach disadvantage against a guy who threw a ****load of jabs, his best bet was to fight the way he did, in an ambush style leading with power shots. only problem was Cotto was gassed after 6-7 rounds
Cotto's mouth was hanging open after 6 rds
Cotto sets up everything of the jab, that's how he fights. If he didn't use the jab, he was a fool. So you think it's better to jump in with a wide looping haymaker trying to get on the inside than it is to pump or double pump the jab while slipping under Trout's punches? Cotto was on the outside way too much and when on the inside, he was ineffective.
When Cotto got on the inside he didn't throw enough punches. He would just stand there waiting....when he let his hands go, he landed punches. Like I said, it looked like Cotto didn't properly train for this fight.
119-109? Hahahahahah
What did you score it Shawn?
Looked as though you gave Cotto a lot of rounds, but I figured you smarter than that and you were just trolling. What did you end with?
You can still throw your jab against a taller southpaw even if you don't land it, use it as a range finder and as a way to set up your left hook, like Ward did against Dawson, Hopkins against Tarver, etc.
Cotto's jab disappeared in the 2nd half.
that jab and straight to the body caused that methinks
neglect the jab? lol

Trout forced Cotto to revert back to his old swarming/pressure style, and he simply doesn't have the endurance/stamina to make it work anymore. He also doesn't have that kind of punching power to effectively swarm his opponent.
Most definitely not the best way to start if off for sure but $50.00 down the tubes is certainly better than $500.00.
It looked to me like Cotto didn't even train right or something. I've never seen him swing so wide and neglect the jab so much before.

I don't know what fight the judges watched, but Trout was a clear winner. He outworked and outpunched Miguel, his stamina was't improved, his skin is very easy to mark up now, and he looked very slow at times tonight to me, which is hard as hell for me to say. Trout would turn him and Cotto throw a wide left hook into the air and eat a jab. If he does continue, I'll support him till the end. If he does retire, I'll support that too.
With that said though Trout is going to run his ass of tonight. Mark it down. Fortunately for us boxing fans Cotto is great at cutting the ring off.
So great he won
I think Cotto could still beat him but he needs to rest after those 2 defeats and he should note take that fight in May.
Cotto's wear-and-tear is becoming a factor now. His face can no longer handle punishment anymore. Did he get cut in this fight?
Cotto has been softened to the point where GBP feel that it's safe enough to make the fight happen. That shit really bothers me, cuz I don't wanna see him go out like that. I'd rather him retire instead of allowing a pampered and over-hyped fighter to use him as a stepping stone. I know I'll be devastated if he loses to Canelo.
