Did anyone else find that as funny as i did? Lol my initial reaction was " oh no not another mayweather wanna be" but that game plan went out the window ASAP!!! Lol
Berto's stance to me showed he was uncomfortable even stepping into the ring Saturday night. Something was up with him. We may not know right away but he seemed so out of sorts and it was like he didn't know what to do.
It is not like Guerrero was some master fighter that someone would have a hard time figuring out, but Berto just seemed lost. It was either the layoff, dehydration, or he is just showing signs of being shot.
I give the Ghost a lot of credit for doing his thing, but Berto should have been more competitive. Berto was showing signs that he was not even prepared. It was like he had no legs the entire fight, even from the opening bell. I never considered either guy an elite fighter, but that was the worst Berto I have ever seen.
not at all. One fight doesn't make history. Even floyd has problems with southpaws. Didn't say a sp wins ever time, only that its less effective.
floyds super trouble against southpaws... Another myth!!!!!!!!!
I laughed because of how goofy he looked trying to do it. Its like his little trex arms couldnt even cover his whole midsection.
His trainer isnt that good imo, and his brother or whoever that was shouting out over tge trainer is an even bigger joke. Its like berto did not prepare to fight a southpaw whatsoever, didnt do anything tactical, etc. Should have gave guerrero a steady diet of straight rights, circling to his left(guerreros right), etc.
Bertos still a good fighter, still has some good fights left in him. That much was the evident last night, he really needs a trainer change imo.
I agree & I can't count how many times I yelled out 'go to your left.' He could have fought a completely different type of fight. I for one would have rather seen the dude get beat up in his normal style than attempting the shoulder roll.
What do you get when a guy with no skill, no reflexes, no defense, no footwork, no ring IQ, and a weak chin attempts the shoulder roll?
You get Andre Berto getting dropped twice by Robert Guererro in 2 rounds.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I was like Berto trying to shoulder roll and then got caught with a straight left. He got dropped in the 1st and 2nd.
what i found funnier was berto doing the same mannerisms floyd or toney does with the lip pouting and head shaking. broner also does this but he's been successful at least. berto looked like a clown.
Strangely enough I also noticed this.

Lets try and keep our panties on dude....floyd is the most known for using that style as of late which is why i said floyds defense....clearly u missed the whole point of the thread which is how foolish berto looked using it. Lets stick to the subject plz and calm down its not that serious To be callin ppl tools. Lighten up
You had no idea it was called a Philly Shell or Shoulder Roll defense did you?
i don't know about opening up a fight with it, but I've seen him use it before. not as frequently as he tried last night though.
He does here and there but I don't think he's ever taken such a flat footed, side profile to that extreme like he did last night...he's always been in position to throw his jab naturally and parry what's coming back in other fights. It didn't look like he knew how to get his jab off as frequently as usual, it's one of his best tools and it was out the window very early on. Robert walked right in almost, I was surprised that he seemed to be welcoming an in-fight which he isn't as good at
plus it's something that takes years and years of practice. It's not something a pro fighter can all of a sudden just pick up at age 29 or whatever.
On top of that he tried it with a Southpaw, the entire thing had me scratching my head.
Mayweather didnt invent the philly shell.... stfu about it u tools...
everybody uses it.. theyre not "trying to be like mayweather ". if youve watched boxing for more than 5 years you would know that plenty of boxers use the philly shell.. even cotto does it sometimes.

I'm pretty sure berto has always used the shoulder roll/philly shell before this fight. i don't know why some keep mentioning it. maybe I'm seeing things.
