I believe he has the skills to beat Ward but Ward has a Hagler like tunnel vision.
I don't think he'll ever fight Ward...after the cancellation of the scheduled fight they were both acting like they weren't interested in making it happen any time soon...
I also agree that Dirrell beat Froch, but it was a very sloppy fight
Dirrell wins by UD or beats Froch by KO if they fight again. Froch's true kryptonite are skilled boxer/punchers like Ward and Dirrell. If Dirrell had not been mental and unconfident the first half of their fight, he would have probably KOed Froch.
Not sure about KO but I agree with the view that Dirrell got confident in the latter stages & if he had fought confidently earlier he could have won.
Dan Rafael of ESPN (of whom I'm not a fan but he knows his stuff) had Froch winning so there's another pointless exercise of naming someone famous to try to back up your view.
It. Was. A. Close. Fight. It. Could. Have. Gone. Either. Way.

Oh, so Barry's view on ALL fights is the final word then.
I'm just bringing him up as one example out of many objective observers who thought Dirrell won.
But the past is in the past. Dirrell has to start making some noise in the here and now if he wants to be seen as one of the top super middleweights.
Dirrell clearly won that fight. Just ask Barry McGuigan.

Like I said, it was a close fight. Dirrell made Froch miss but didn't do enough offensively to clearly win. Froch 'made' the fight but was too sloppy to to win clearly. Neither man performed that well although I did feel that Dirrell 'got it' in the last couple of rounds.
I have no problem with people thinking either man won, but it was a close fight & no robbery.

That said, it's in the past. He needs to get active and start working his way up the rankings to a title fight.
Sounds more humble than usual, good on him. Wasn't no robbery though, close fight, Dirrell seemed to be looking for a way out for most of the fight as I recall.
Dirrell beat froch in nottingham, he made froch miss all night
Making someone miss doesn't win you a fight (unless you're Judah v Matthysse), especially against a champion away from home.
But that was 3 ago years now, Dirrell could have had that rematch and then some if he had stayed active and beat some names.
I will say that the Showtime commentary was disgraceful & I can see why many think it was a robbery, not because of the fight but because the idiots with the mikes had to create a controversy.
It was a close fight that could have gone either way, but nowadays those sorts of fights have people screaming.
I've always wondered why the US posters are so vocal about this bout. I had Dirrell by 2 rounds but it wasn't like he was dominating the fight, no one was, it was just a mess.
He grew up around the 9th or 10th round of the Froch fight.
Something clicked & he realised he could hang with the big boys. I had the fight a draw but no complaints either way. But I really really thought that Dirrell was going to go from strength to strength after that but he seems to be lacking some mental fortitude. Good luck to him though. I believe he has the skills to beat Ward but Ward has a Hagler like tunnel vision.
he shook of Froch. Dude was about to say how he loves froch mentality cause he dont have one and then changed up.
I noticed that, but in fairness to Dirrell he has exceptional skills and he knows the mentality he needs to hold for 12 rounds against Froch and i wouldnt be shocked if he beat Froch in a rematch
He needs to get his career off again, very talented guy, hope he can recover it
