I liked all of them, but the first the most.
The 2nd was by far the closest fight, with solid action, not as great as the first, but definitely enjoyable to me. Fan Man was just crazy. The 90s had so many crazy moments in HW boxing.
I remember Larry Merchant saying during the 3rd that the crowd wasn't into it as much because they couldn't see a lot of the action because it was so up close. I loved watching the in-fighting, there was some brilliant stuff in there with great exchanges. Bowe's uppercut was really nice, I remember in the 5th he landed two straight right uppercuts in a row. They were fluid and short. Beautiful to watch him work with those short uppercuts. That had the most dramatic, "where did that come from?" moment in the trilogy (concerning the actual two fighters) when Holyfield almost took out Bowe in the 6th.
All 3 exciting???? Only the first one was. The other 2 were zzzzzzzzzzzs with a bit here n there.
none of those damn fights were zzzzzzzzz..dont know what the hell you were watching
The first fight, the 10th round was classic, Holyfield showed alot of heart, don't know how he didn't go down from the uppecut.
I was gonna say which ever fight had that 10th round comeback by Holyfield.
yeah looks like everybody agrees that the first was the best...great thread...green k send to the TS...this is something i really wanted to know what the people are saying here...even if i knew the majority would say the first...this was a classic HW battle just like the Ali - Frazier saga!
1st one was most entertaining although the 3rd had its moments.
Bowe hit Evander with several low blows in that 3rd fight an it led to the action being fought at a much slower pace. It never really caught fire until Evander dropped Bowe in the 6th. Karma caught up with Bowe in his next two fights.
Riddick said Evander was alot stronger in the 3rd fight and even though Bowe won the battle I think he lost the war because he was done after that whereas Holyfield went on to have a great career.
The first one for sure, one my favs of all time. The 3rd fight was also great and had one of the best memorable moments when Evander put Bowe down and almost got him out. Considering the context and the road to that fight, seeing him battle like that again he could do no wrong to me after that ..I started the trilogy rooting for Bowe.
The Fanman spoiled the momentum that the 2nd fight was building, there was good ebb and flow starting up and it looked like it would have turned into another classic down the stretch but instead it lives in infamy.
The 1st by far, two young unbeaten heavyweights in their prime, met in the center of the ring and FOUGHT to see who was the better fighter. ****ing beautiful, that is what this **** is all about
do you think that knock down should have been counted as a knock down??
