Now that rios has moved up in weight this fight can actually happen an considering the back ground they have together I always wanted to see it go down. What do you guys think????? I got victor winning SD only cuz victor can box more
You could say the same about Maidana.
Right, and if you read the rest of my post, you'll notice that I said if Ortiz doesn't break down mentally (which is why he lost to Maidana) he'll win via KO.
Let's face it, Ortiz clearly has more talent than Rios. Rios doesn't box at all. Victor has power, accuracy, reasonably good defense, physical strength and good boxing skills. He's also a southpaw.
Rios has... a great chin? Thudding, consistent power (possibly overrated). No boxing skills whatsoever.

Ortiz is bigger, stronger, faster, harder hitting and has the better boxing ability.
That said i cant get it out of my head that a die hard warrior like Rios would break his will
i pretty much got the same views as most in this thread. if ortiz shows up determined like he did for berto, i see him winning. but if he gets careless or shows any kind of mistakes, i think rios can overwhelm him and probably stop him. ortiz is more skilled and stronger than rios imo, rios just has a stronger will and heart. and that sometimes can win you fights. hopefully it becomes possible after ortiz gets some wins going.
Victor will quit on his stool, there was already talk before the Josesito fight that Ortiz was looking towards his retirement. Talking about how he doesn't want to be permanently damaged and not enjoy his life after boxing. And he's a surfer on top of that. Rios is a banger and doesn't give a ****, he'll win in the mid to late rounds possibly 9 when Ortiz quits.
They'll both get hit. A lot.
The fight would come down to who breaks down fastest. I'm willing to bet that it would be Ortiz. He's not going to be the same fighter who fight Berto, or Mayweather even.
I'll take Ortiz. A motivated Ortiz is an elite fighter imo. Rios isnt an elite talent (imo). Ortiz too fast, strong, and has an underrated chin not to mention has more power... Ortiz would t quit against Rios. Well anyway... If he is able to fight again i've got him over Rios 9 out of 10... But ortiz has awful luck. Dude's fights are unpredictable as s hit
I think Ortiz would get the better of the action, even if he eventually lost. Whether Rios could break Ortiz down and get to him later on depends on how he would do at 147.
I think it depends on how Ortiz fights him. If he behaves like a boxer puncher then I think he'd **** Rios up something fierce. He's more talented than him, stronger and a heavier hitter, he should be capable of beating on him and whilst boxing to ensure he fights at a pace comfortable for him.
If he gets into a slugfight with Rios then I feel he'd lose.
7 times out of 10 I would give it to Ortiz.
Ortiz can do whatever the hell he wants with Rios.. He can beat the sh1t out of him for 12 rounds or he can outbox him for 12 rounds (but he might get robbed) either way Ortiz wins.
It's always nice to look into a thread and see everyone posting sensible responses, rather than "Rios destroys Ortiz."

And like everyone else is saying, it's definitely up to whether or not Ortiz loses it mid-rounds and either starts hugging Rios or trying to order a big mac and small fries from the ref.
Ortiz via KO.
Ortiz' mental state is the key in this one for me. He's an enigma. This fight, given the history, would definately ensure Ortiz would not give up, similar to the Berto fight. He seems to rise when the chips are down. Coupled with Ortiz's superior ability to box when he's on his game, he's definately got more dimensions to win this fight.
On the flipside, he could also come in too pumped, play into Rios's hands in a slugfest and do something stupid. The extra aggression in this fight would only boost Rios, who'd just keep coming and coming. Ortiz by a very close UD or possible SD.
My head says that when it comes to guys who like to bang, you go with the bigger and stronger guy.
However, Rios has shown the heart of a lion and has never been badly hurt while Ortiz has been dropped numerous times and has quit...he was also beaten in a war by Lopez, who was smaller than him.
I've got Rios.
