I never knew why Golden Boy never protected Amir Khan like they do with Canelo. Not that I'm complaining. I respect the fact that Amir Khan is facing tough oppositions. But this is just out of curiosity. They were trying to turn Amir Khan into a star.
With Khans situation it's different. Khan is in a sport where he is gonna get hit. How do u protect someone with a glass chin from getting hit?? Khan can't compete in the elite level. Khan will just have a to a sparring partner so he can put head gear on to protect him.
Yep mate. That wasn't directed at you, just seen many a hindsight expert on this forum try to discredit Khan for that win over Maidana. I myself at the time thought Maidana was gonna knock Khan out.
Alright but don't act like those who predicted Maidana would kill Khan were on crack. They weren't far off the mark.
Errrmm yeah ok.
I myself thought Maidana was gonna kill Khan.
Fact of the matter is he didn't, no matter what happened in 1 round of a 12 round fight.
:D No one gives a flying **** if he ''almost'' did. Chavez Jr ''almost'' knocked Martinez out. But he didn't. Almost's dont work in Boxing, it's either you did or you didn't.

Yes mate i agree :ANYWORD:. That was a hard fight for Khan that everyone said he wouldn't take, but he stepped up and took the fight.

And he almost did. Roach admitted he was on the verge of throwing the towel in the 10th round.

When you say "protected" about Khan, I also consider the fact that he is fighting at 140 as "protection".
The guy's body is CLEARLY welterweight-ready. But GBP feels Khan would get mauled at 147...I guess.
Frankly, I feel that Mayweather's left hooks would demolish Khan quickly. And Floyd is not a big puncher at that weight.

It's all well and good being a hindsight expert now and calling Maidana a ''zombie'' and ''no skilled plodder'' but at the time Maidana was supposed to KILL Khan.

Lets just clear one thing up.
There is no such thing as a lucky punch. You throw a punch with the intention of hitting someone; if you hit them then you did what you intended to do, there is no luck involved.
It would be lucky if you tripped over your shoe lace, put your hands out in front of yourself to stop your fall and you connect on someones jaw and KO them.
This.
This squared!

Khan's CV is a mix of decent fighters and not so good ones. He could of took easier fights..he could of took harder fights at times.
Madania seems to get dissed these days but at the time 90% of this forum was saying Khan wouldn't dare face him. Khans fought in DC when he didn't have to.
I have no doubt his promoters picked fights such as Garcia and Peterson fully expecting him to win but if you want to see a protected fighter(s) there is bigger ones out there..Alvarez and Cleverly for example.

Khan was easily outboxing Garcia however Garcia was trying to and did a few times land that counter left hook prior to the big one.
Any Boxer with half a brain cell of ring knowledge would have clicked on that Garcia was wildly swinging that counter left hook and if it lands it's gonna be curtains so they would have changed up a little and watched out for that left hook.
Khan however, as we all know is not the smartest and continued on his way and la di da'd till that wild left hook swing caught him and we all know what happened thereafter.

Danny was getting beat up until he closed his eyes and thew a hail mary. To say otherwise makes your opion trash, like your jokes.
I give you the benefit of the doubt, Khan was winning on punches. However, what you did miss is the moments Khan went in to exchange look at who finished the exchanges. Danny was frustrating khan. It Danny who lured Khan to fight his fight. To me that's smart. Danny was also landing some good right hands too, but you didn't hear the commentators calling those shots much.
I think its down to Kahn itself and its admirable.
Ever since he was knocked out by Prescott hes had a chip on his shoulder about his chin and since then has always wanted to fight the best and trade with the biggest bangers to his detriment. Its a shame more fighters dont have this attitude.
What fight were you watching? Danny was getting smacked around until that ONE shot. As for no such thing as lucky shots you say? So i guess Rahim whole game plan was to get dominated, wait for Lennox to smile, swing and get the knockout. Yeah....ill buy that for a dollar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Garcia wasn't getting smacked around, he was getting closer and closer with his left hook. Do you think the shot he dropped Morales with was a luck shot too? This guy must have a four leaf clover in his trunks.
Yeah, Hatton won all but one round, but let's be real, that stoppage by his trainer wasn't really called for. He wasn't taking the damage like he did against Khan. Khan was POURING on that damage!
He domianted him better than Hatton. . .
Hatton did more damage but Khan landed more punches. Both fights were one-sided beatings and you could argue that Hatton softened Paulie up for Khan.
To be fair to Khan, he's making GBP work for him, not the other way around like too many other fighters. That should ultimately be a promoters job and normality! Too many fighters are bothered about losing their L but if you look at Khan, he'll still be in good money fights to make a living because people know he's value for money (however long it lasts), and logically fighting better fighters equates to better purses.
