what do people believe is the main reason pbf has high ppv numbers ? i maintain that its because a large part of the buyers do not like him and pay to see him get beat !!! in fact that a good a##whipping thats the only reason i would buy his fights , although after the ortiz joke i wouldnt pay again for anything he does.
Are you being serious? Nmo matter how much you guuys try and down floyd, people pay to see him, people like watching him fight. Just accept it and move on.
I am not sure anymore, 2 month ago i was diagnosed with prostata cancer and its located in such a way that surgery= I lose my ability to become erect.
Since then either i am crying or being a total *******.
I have nothing against Floyd except his money flaunting, but I love watching him box, always have always will.
Forgive me
have could I forget
Pac ****ing man, everyone wanted to see them fight and in the process Mayweathers name was constantly spoken of or written, that started the whole myth.
Pacman is the singel biggest reason why he have the status the have today, when floyd fought Marquez the whole point of that fight was to see have floyd did against Pac´s toughest apponent, the same with Pac vs Hatton, when Pac flattend hatton the whole world where dying to see Pac vs may and that made them both famous too damm rich and fat.
****ers

Because he is a anoying litttel prick that dossent deserve the skills he have.
Who the hell likes a fighter that openly says he dossent give a **** about legacy, pride,or the fans, the only thing he cares about is milking the sport for as much $$$ as possible.
There is nothing wrong about being rich or wanting to be rich, but floyd is something else, he likes nothing more then to flount his money and expenvis ugly bling bling cars in faces of the fans that payed for it all.
And what dos he give us back? sucker punching ****ing Ortiz, and avoid every meanningfull fight the fans want to see.
He is a great fighter but a serious anoying littel ****er that many people would love to see get knocked out so a more deserving fighter gest the spotlight and money.
Imagin what Sergio martinez would do it he had all the founds floyd have ?, he would try a change the world for the better.
While floyd is just a greedy, deluded littel anoying ****
Because he is the Joker of boxing, the boggyman, the evil one, a ruthless unmoral criminal that flaunts the same money he have robbed the fans for in there faces.
That is what makes him interresting, there are plenty supremly talented boxers out there, broner is at least as skilled as floyd, but floyd is floyd and that is why people wanna see him fight.
you had to answer the question twice? let the butthurt flow through you.

I'm not exactly sure why these fans feel to attached to PPV numbers, as far as myself....well I'm a boxing fan I come to see FIGHTS! Get the fights rollin, I don't care about how good your PPV does or does not do! Fight!
Intelligent fans understand that this is also a BUSINESS, and the fights you see are largely based on how much money they will make.
Why did Arum say that they are making Marquez-Pacquiao 4 instead of Bradley-Pacquiao 2? Money. PPV buys.

If Mayweather-Cotto had bombed the way that Bradley-Pacquiao bombed, would May-Cotto 2 even be considered?
No one in their right mind would (and I understand that 90 percent of the people who who post on this message board, including you, do not fall in this category) would pay $60 to see a fighter lose, especially when they know that the chances of that fighter losing are very slim. Floyd has high PPV numbers because he is the most popular fighter in the U.S., and that is all that matters when it comes to PPV numbers because poor people in the Phillipines don't pay for PPV. His popularity is the result of a combination of his skill and his self-promotion efforts. Comments like yours are the retarded musings of the ill-informed and the intellectually challenged.
People paying to see him lose goes along with the hope of being entertained, just like going to see a movie hoping that you're entertained. I love watching Floyd fight, but I've been to many a household who literally hoped for Mayweather to lose and paid $60 for it. It doesn't matter to Floyd because it's a purchase at the end of the day love or hate him. But overall Floyd's popularity can be divided up by his adoring fans, haters, and casual fans who are intrigued by his character.

1. Casual fans are intigued with his character
2. Some fans want to see him lose
3. His die hard fans have 45 minutes to salivate. Interestingly enough, hand lotion sales go up 74% the day of the fight.

He's the perfect villian--as New England mentioned, the perfect salesman. An arrogant Black American who acts out every single stereotype in the book and can back it up in the ring. Lots of people would pay to watch his come-uppance.
Another reason for his popularity is what I call the OJ effect. Like OJ, African-Americans aren't in love with his behavior (a good portion of them), but flock to him his defense because of the other side's rhetoric. Floyd, more than any fighter since perhaps Tyson, has been able to get the African-American community to come out of their pockets, no easy task.
Great Post.
There is a strong rumour from reliable sources that Floyd sells more PPV. ANother reason for that is people are saving up their money to watch Pac destroy Floyd.
Floyd keeps his fans waiting to see him for so long of course many people will want to see Floyd fight to see where hes at ability wise. Its not that they think they will be entertained too highly by Floyd or get non stop action.
To be honest, i and am sure most people expected SSM and Cotto to do well against Floyd, not so much cos SSM and Cotto are that great but more cos Floyd isnt that great.
Of course they were going to punch Floyd and miss a lot but you know the fights going 12 rounds at the very least.
I don't think that's why. Most people have floyd #1 p4p and most sites do as well. I think it's more of the hype and promotion to make people believe that. Though like I said we're entitled to our own opinions.
They were expected to do well, because of how the fight was hyped. Honest question here... did you really expect SSM and Cotto to do well against Floyd? It's your opinion so I won't judge it either way, but I want an honest answer at least.

Floyd gets high PPV numbers but he manipulates the figures by not fighting much and getting people to anticipate his fights like an event as you wont see him again for while so catch him while you can.
Those figures dont count towards him deserving more money than Pac, as when Pac and FLoyd fight. They will be paying to watch Pac destroy Floyd.
Most young people got influenced watching boxing by their dad, uncles, adult relatives and friends. Not once will you hear them discuss PPV numbers and all that silly nonsense. All they wanna see are fights. Tyson was huge during his time. I mean really huge because he was an exciting fighter. Who would care about the number of PPV sold during those times?
Times were a bit different then, and Tyson was recognized as the biggest draw. It was unanimous. It didn't come into effect until there were multiple superstars in the sport in the same division who could generate the kind of money tyson could.

Are you really serious. Buy a fight for $70 to watch a guy lose?
He beat ODLH which spring board him like Pac did when he beat him.
He did WWF appearances that exposed him to a different crows alongside youngsters.
Did dancing with the stars and exposed him to millions of different viewers.
Did some commercials and kept it going.
He is controversial and he sells himself that way.
Also he is one of the best fighters of out generation

Again, Floyd might sell more PPVs if he does cos he dont fight much and if you dont see him now you may not get the chance to see him for another 2 years time.
Plus with Pac he fights so often that if you dont see him fight its not such a big deal as he'll fight in 3 months time. Also maybe cos people expect Pac to brutalise his opponent and it wont be competitive. With Floyd all his opponents are expected to do well against FLoyd. SSM and Cotto were expected to give Floyd hell. So with Floyd you will get a competive fight.

. Pac sells out every fight? Wrong even with his low-ball ticket prices. He outsells Mayweathers ppv? If selling half of him is outsells... I guess.

Cool man you do you, but I aint here to discuss purses. I'm here for boxing! Let the fighter's promoters and managers do the negotiating, speaking on another mans money is just not cool! :boxing::boxing:
Like I said I agree with that, I'm just telling you how it is. It's the same in all sports not just boxing. MJD held out on a contract this year... did the fans want it? No but **** them, he wants his money. It's just the way of professional sports as much as I hate it.
I'm not exactly sure why these fans feel to attached to PPV numbers, as far as myself....well I'm a boxing fan I come to see FIGHTS! Get the fights rollin, I don't care about how good your PPV does or does not do! Fight!
The reason people get attached is because generally ppv numbers decide the mega fights. They also effect negotiations. It doesn't matter how good you are or what you think you deserve, your purse is based on how much money you generate...some boxers can't get passed that and a lot of fights are ruined because of it. Do I agree with it? No. Though it is the fact of the matter most of the time.
