I liked his fight, he looked impressive, but he didn't look like a perfect boxer to me.
Very impressive with his power and composure etc, but at the end of the day we saw one fight of him against another boxer who we didn't know either.
He deserves credit and a shot at a title, but to date he still hasn't beaten a top ten fighter - so let's just keep monitoring him until then.
Stop mentioning the Wards, Frochs, Martinez, etc. as he hasn't reached that level yet.
Let's not turn this guy into another Juanma Lopez, etc where we all fooled ourselves into thinking he'd be 10x World Champ by now!
Some people will be overly impressed and overhype the sh*t out of a fighter, others will not be impressed no matter what he does. It's the same thing that has been happening on here forever now.
Very true. There's very little moderation around here. Its either one extreme or the other.
a man should be allowed a level of "hype" proportionate to his talent.
after the proksa fight i quickly settled in with the idea that i'm probably going to be seeing a lot of gennady golovkin over the next few years.
he's one hell of a puncher, with some nice offensive skills to back it up. he's 30 and looks to be ready to be thrown in the fire. i want to see if this kid (grown man,) can swim.
he called out everybody from 154 to 168
i also think that people appreciate the means by which he's come up. he's really not some promotors goldenboy at this stage. lots of the people here hate that stuff. he's not an american, but he's gone to great effort to come here to impress an american audience and fight, train, and spar with the best, which i really appreciate.
he does plenty that i respect personally, and i'll have no issues calling myself a fan of his, or any of the other boxers for whom i have the greatest respect.
a dog likes a bone. sue me.

in the amateurs he beat dirrell, lee, korobov, and stopped bute.
he's a very promising fighter. if you can't see that then there's not a ton i can do for you, unless you're willing to learn.
may be better to judge this by watching, whom decides to avoid him instead of face him! regardless of what you think, Golovkin is not a dude to overlook!
lol Even the British announcers thought Proksa clearly won in spite of Proksa getting cut in the 2nd round and bleeding badly for 10 rounds. Showing your desire to descredit him without objectivity or truth was nice of you though. I'll make sure to disregard your garbage posts from now on.
I'll do the same with yours, if you can't stop crying about that loss and accept it like a man. But given your post history it's pretty clear that we can't expect much objective analysis on your part anyway.
its the 'regular' belt of WBA...so no, its not even the full WBA Belt, now held by Geale!.
Look, I really like the guy and he reminds me of one of my all time favs, in Kostya Tszyu, but the fact is, settle down fellows, let him earn his full due by fighting the top fighter and beating them first - which I want him to do!
The only reason he isn't the sole WBA Champion is due to the WBA's corruption and Njikam and Sturm being allowed to duck him. You must also believe that Roy jones was Lineal LHW Champion
I'm not saying he's the #1 MW or anything but simply that he is the legit WBA Champion and that Proksa was a top 10 MW.
Proksa has also been beaten by the likes of Kerry Hope.

Yeah I remember the JuanMa Lopez Hype Train on this forum in which people actually thought he was better then Gamboa at one point
not only JuanMa but I also remember people hyping up David Lemieux (what in the hell ever happened to this guy anyway  ), of course Lucian Bute recently, don't know what happened to the Bute Fans, I haven't see any of them since the Froch fight,
Well said!

- Golovkin has the WBA and IBO Titles

A lot of his hype is unwarranted. I mean think about it the dude has a ****tier resume than both broner and canelo and he's 10yrs older than both. But ppl on this site are chicks like that.
thats how I see it as well...looks like time will have to kill another illusion...illusions always seem to crumble under the pressure of time!!!....the countdown has officially begun...tick tick tick
I thought he basically destroyed a welterweight this past saturday. He looked good doing it, but this is not an elite middleweight he just beat. I feel people are definitely getting too excited. Let him prove himself some more.........
Geale who beat Sturm this weekend won a close split decision over Sylvester. Five months after that Proksa brutalized Sylvester and stopped him in 3 rounds. Proksa is a top 10 MW with good power and Golovkin outclassed him. It's a good start and showed his potential. Part of the problem is guys like Njikam and Sturm ducking him but hopefully with HBO and two belts that will change.

he was a great amatuer and he seems to be a skillfull pro with a lot of power.
personally I like seeing the excitement he's brought to boxing. over hyped? time will tell.
Damn your sig gif is great. Surgical punishment.
Cast Iron chin, Foreman power for 160 division, better skills than Mayweather
Perfect fighter = Golovkin
Better skills than Floyd lmaooooo I've heard it all today.
Proksa Top 10?? In the Middleweight division?? I'd like to see those ratings...or are you talking about some specific organisation of the MW Division?
Top 10, I'd expect it to be someone that I'd had heard of...
So in the MW, that would make me think like a Martinez, JCC Jnr, Geale, Sturm, Njikam, Pirog (look forward to that one), Macklin, Murray, Quillin, etc ....

You'll have to check today, he'll be out when the update hits tomorrow. It was a bit generous to put him back in for the Hope rematch
Guys like Golovkin and Rigo got this intimidating quality about them, their contemporaries would rather pretend like they don't exist. Golovkin's been stopping everybody in his path, but isn't a really vocal character. On the other hand, Rigo has resorted to calling out and trash-talking cuz he simply doesn't a give a **** anymore. I can't wait til both guys get their shot at the notable names in their division, it HAS to happen.
