In the quarterfinal OL 2004 Ward was fighting Southpaw Makarenko who won a bronze in 1998 as a heavyweight at the 1998 European championships and dominated light heavyweight between 2001 and 2006.
He won gold medals at
the 2001 World Amateur Boxing Championships,
the 2002 European Amateur Boxing Championships as a heavyweight
the 2003 World Amateur Boxing Championships where he beat Rudolf Kraj.
and the 2004 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Pula, Croatia.
He also participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics as a light heavyweight, his results were:
1st round bye
Defeated Yoan Pablo Hernández (Cuba) 30-18
Lost to Andre Ward (United States) 16-23
In 2006 he beat highly touted newcomer Artur Beterbiev but lost to him in 2007, preventing him from participating in the World Championships in Chicago.
The guy was HUGE and had dominated everything.
In this fight Ward against all odds beat him, despite the other guy physically being hugly superior.
Dawson should know that his size or style wont matter much, what he should be worried about is ward`s relentless ability to ajust and find a way to victory.

Aren't you two idiots part of the "Bradley beat pacquiao!" fanclub? LOL
Rd's 1 to 5 were close in the Ward-Abraham fight, hilarious that arthur actually got 3(you could probabley give him 4), and won them simply via boxing ward, before inevitably blowing his load ofcourse.
Imagine if abraham had some stamina, he probabley would've won it hands down lmfao.
Round 1 is almost always close with any fight, it's usually the round where they feel each other out. Just watched round 5 and Ward won it convincingly, 2 rounds to 12 isn't bad considering the 1st could've gone either way, Ward dominated AB.
In what world was he getting outboxed by Abraham?
judge: Stanley Christodoulou 120-108 | judge: Ingo Barrabas 118-110 | judge: James Jen-Kin 118-111
Not this one.

The zero really is like magic, like some hypnosis.

Does Ward adjust? seems to me he always fights in the same way, it's just that opponents find it difficult to counter.

You're right I saw his Gold medal win. The guy was a lot bigger then him.
There is no stopping Ward, he's an incredible boxer fighting in one of the toughest divisions in boxing. Like Nazim Richardson said, the only time Ward was beatable was early in his career when he first started out. He's just barely entering his prime, he will clean out 168 and 175 with ease. He's got everything except power, the fact that he had a severley broken right hand and STILL schooled Froch with ease is amazing.
The only way he loses is by robbery.
Yeah, maybe the dominating wins he put forth would have not been so dominating in Europe some where. Maybe winning 12 rounds over here only accounts for 4 over there.
:rofl::rofl: LMFAO
Ward hasn't lost a fight since he was like 12 or something, but according to some on here it's because the ref's allow him to do whatever he wants and that he's a fraud....Maybe he's just better, ya know?

Every amateur boxer or boxer in general should watch this fight
For the hardcore boxing fan that loves the technically aspects that goes on inside the ring,This is as good as it gets.
True, while I won't argue with anyone will claims it will be "boring as hell", I'm a huge fan of technique so this is a big one for me.
Literally can't wait for this fight!
